Just Add Ink #461 | Inspiration

The photo inspiration from Rachael this week for Just Add Ink couldn’t be more perfect for me.  It’s my favourite colours and it works beautifully with a new bundle that just arrived on my doorstep from the 2019-2020 Annual Catalogue.

Let me know you the bundle first –

When I first saw this in the catalogue, it was instant love.  Over the years, I’ve used different methods to create silhouettes.  I just love the effect of having the solid black image against a colourful background.

Here’s what I created using the beautiful swinging girl stamp and the weeping tree die…

The yellow background panel for the card was made using the new Pigment Sprinkles.  They come in a pack of six Stampin’ Up! colours.  I’ve used Daffodil Delight in two stages to get different intensities of the gorgeous yellow tone.

The swinging girl was stamped in Versamark and heat embossed in black embossing powder.  I love the solid colour of black embossing powder.  When using the silhouette stamps, you are best to set up your Stamparatus and ink at least twice (if not three times).  This will give you a truly solid image in whatever colour you are using.

The Smoky Slate background of the card also features something new – 3D Brick & Mortar Embossing Folder.  I was so excited by this too!!!   Stampin’ Up! have decided not to make us wait for new embossing folders & dies while they continue to perfect the design on the new cutting & embossing machine.  These products will still work with whatever die cutting & embossing machine you own, but you may need some workarounds in the short term.  This 3D embossing folder worked in my Big Shot (which is quite a tight roll) with two upcycled shims – a piece of 6″ x 8″ cardboard that comes with our foil packs and a piece of 6″ x 8″ cardboard from a DSP pack.  You may have to try a few combinations to see what works in your machine.

The workarounds are totally worth it though – there’s some gorgeous new 3D folders in the new catalogue!!

The sentiment on this card is from the Itty Bitty Birthdays stamp set.  Many of my favourite sets in the Annual Catalogue don’t have birthday sentiments included, so this set will be on regular rotation to keep up with all the birthday cards I want to send throughout the year.

Just Add Ink #370 – Sketch

It’s sketch week at Just Add Ink – one of my favourites!!!

Image may contain: text

As always, this wonderful sketch by Narelle could take you so many places on your creative journey!

I seem to be on a run of baby cards for challenges in July… so here’s another one!

I really can’t get enough of the “A Little Wild” stamp set but haven’t used this cute little bear as much as the other animals.

The sentiment didn’t quite fit where the sketch had it – so I moved it over a little!  It’s white embossing on coloured cardstock – still a favourite choice!

I dusted off my forgotten Watercolor Pencils to add some colour to the honey bear.

More practice is definitely required (I don’t have a natural knack for pencil colouring), but I love trying!
