A Rosy Mother’s Day

It’s Mother’s Day tomorrow in Australia and to help out my husband, I did my own Mother’s Day shopping this year.  I treated myself to the amazing Everything is Rosy Product Medley.

This limited edition selection of products is even more amazing in real life than any sample I can show you!  But, I’ll try…..

Everything is Rosy | kelly kent

The Rose Gold features throughout this suite are fabulous – from the foiling on the DSP to the edging on the ribbon, Rose Gold Foil, Shimmer Paint and mirorred embellishments.  Plus, there’s more Rose Gold that I wasn’t able to fit on the card in the form of printed & foiled die cuts.

The medley is $139 – and includes:

I thought I had used everything in the medley to make my card, only to realise I’d left off any of the amazing die cuts!  I’ll have to show those in another card soon.

I was so excited to have this bundle arrived, I did a Facebook Live when I unboxed it.  See the replay below…

If you have a sneaky suspicion you’ll need to buy your own present too, click here to order one for yourself!!!

No matter which kind of mum you are – human, fur baby, plant, fish, best aunty ever… have a lovely Mother’s Day tomorrow – I hope it has all the things that make you happy.

CASEing the Catty #224 | Favourite Occasions Big Shot

Hi there!  It’s the end of the weekend that saw lots of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators go to OnStage – including a large number of the CASEing the Catty Crew.  Sadly, this event wasn’t possible for me, but I’ve been enjoying opening Facebook & Instagram and seeing all the sneak peeks.  It’s going to be another great catalogue full of samples to for us to copy & share.

The new catalogue starts in June.  For now, we’re still enjoying the two current catalogues – Annual 2018-2019 and Occasions 2019.

The theme for CTC this week is our favourite Big Shot project from the Occasions catalogue.

The card that caught my attention was the one on the left of the picture above.  I loved the peekaboo background made by the largest die in the Doily Builder Thinlits.  Unfortunately, this die set is now sold out!  It’s a testament to the amazing range that Stampin’ Up! are offering that products are selling out before the catalogue period finishes.  If there’s anything on your wishlist that you have to have, don’t wait, order it now!

I have used the background – as inspired by the catalogue – to create this birthday card.

I wanted to showcase the 5 soon to be retired In Colors (2017-2019) – Berry Burst, Fresh Fig, Lemon Lime Twist, Powder Pink & Tranquil Tide.  Don’t get caught with these products!  Make sure to order inks, paper & accessories sooner rather than later.  The retirement list is due out this week and once they appear on there, it doesn’t take long for these supplies to be depleted.

The other bundle I’ve shared in this card is the Well Said / Well Written word stamps & dies also from the Occasions catalogue.  I am very hopeful this bundle will carry over to the 2019-2020 Annual Catalogue as they are amazing and I’d love to get some more use from them!!!

Colour INKspiration #53

One of the things I love most about Colour INKspiration challenges is the variety of colour combinations.  We use inspiration photos with beautiful photography and then match them to Stampin’ Up! colours.  It sometimes throws together an unexpected combination – like this week!  A shade of green, teal, blue and pink together with white make for a fabulous starting point for some amazing projects.  Add in gold or silver for some optional bling!

No photo description available.

We are joined for this week by Fiona Whitehead who was the winner of challenge #51 If you’re hopping around, you have jumped here from Fiona’s blog.  If not, keep clicking on next until you get back there.

I went with Clean & Simple for my card today – wanting to have a play with the cute dies in the Well Written die set.

I’ve seen the leafy vines used by others but didn’t realise until recently that as well as the 14 word dies, this set also contains 10 fabulous extra dies.

How cute is that little birdie!?!?!

I have layered the welcome die – silver foil on top with two layers of Night of Navy underneath.  I find this gives a great depth to the sentiment and really makes it pop.  These dies are best used with Multi-Purpose Adhesive Sheets so you’re not fighting with glue!

I’ve just realised as I share this card with you, that there’s no stamping!!!  It’s all paper, die cutting and embossing.  There’s so many ways to make pretty cards!

Please join us for this fun challenge.  All the action happens in our Facebook group.  Click here to visit.

Keep hopping for more great projects.  Next blog is by Jan Clothier with a very clever card!

Just Add Ink #449 | Colour Challenge

I’m on a roll with colour challenges this month!

Today’s blog post is a fabulous trio, chosen by Lou, for Just Add Ink #449.

Image may contain: text that says 'Join the challenge! Just Add Ink just-add-ink.blogspot.com Lovely Gorgeous Bermuda Lipstick Grape Bay Colour Challenge #449'

The creative starting point for my card came via Chloe Evans of Chlo’s Craft Closet.  Chloe is Just Add Ink alumni, having previously been on the design team, so it was fun to have her provide the inspiration for my card.

How Sweet | kelly kent

Chloe shared a couple of cards on the weekend using strips of cardstock to create a base layer, and then using the Well Said bundle to add sentiments.

These fun & bright colours look great as a stripy background.

How Sweet | kelly kent

The cupcake is fussy cut from the How Sweet It Is DSP.  There’s matching framelits for this DSP too if you love the sweet theme and have no patience for cutting the cute images out.  I love how many of the DSP patterns now come with coordinating framelits.  The final touch was some glitter dots as sprinkles.

This project is made much easier with multipurpose adhesive sheet.  Cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock to size (mine is 3-7/8″ x 3-7/8″), add MPAS and then lay your strips across the adhesive.  Trim the edges and you have an awesome background for your card.  Experiment by using different WW bases, different size strips and different colours.

Tip: MPAS is also amazing when you’re cutting out the words from Well Written.  No messy glue and a perfect finish!

Colour INKspiration #49

So excited today – Colour INKspiration is back for 2019!  The Design Team is refreshed and ready to share fabulous projects with you.  We take our inspiration from the colour palettes of beautiful photography.

The year is starting with Colour INKspiration #49 and these gorgeous colours.  You might be starting here or you may have come via our lovely guest designer Virginia Hampson.

I’ve been wanting to try some colour blending.  At our last team meeting my upline shared a tip on using glycerine with reinkers to create smoother blending.  I’m pretty sure this isn’t a new technique – but you know me… never the first to be trying things (but I get there in the end!).

I started with a piece of Whisper White cardstock and drops of the four colours on one of my large acrylic blocks.  I added a blob of glycerine in the corner of the block, ready for blending with my inks.  The process of blending is the same as if you just used ink, but after you’ve added ink to the dauber, pick up some glycerine as well and then apply the ink as you usually would.  I used circular motions and built up the colour gradually.  The glycerine acts as a lubricant and helps to distribute the ink more evenly.

Once I had my piece of cardstock blended with the four lovely colours, it was time to make it into something!  My original plan was a couple of cards, but I had leftovers, so I made a tag too!

Blending with Glycerine | kelly kent

The card on the left is simply a strip of the coloured cardstock (5-3/8″ x 1-1/8″) adhered to a thick Whisper White cardstock base, with white baker’s twine tied around.

Blending with Glycerine | kelly kent

The sentiment is from the Well Said bundle in Basic Black.

For the second card, I cut 4 x Stitched Shapes circles and arranged them across a thick Whisper White cardstock base.

Blending with Glycerine | kelly kent

The layout of this card was a happy accident.  I was planning something much more geometrical – but in the end the ‘random’ placement seemed to work best with the bright & fun colours.

Blending with Glycerine | kelly kent

I used the same bundle (Well Said) to add the black happy birthday sentiment – this time in the reverse pattern of the first card.  To get the die cut words to adhere easily, be sure to attach Multi-Purpose Adhesive sheet (MPAS) to the cardstock before you run it through the Big Shot.  It makes it so much easier and cleaner to add the words!Blending with Glycerine | kelly kent

I had some pretty blended cardstock left over, so I added MPAS to the back and cut happy birthday from the Well Written dies.  I attached this to a piece of Whisper White cardstock finished with the tag topper die from the Beautiful Layers thinlits dies.

Blending with Glycerine | kelly kent

There’s so many possibilites now my blending skills are at next level (thanks to the glycerine!).

We’d love your project to be among the great entries we receive each challenge.  To join the challenge, simply create something using the 4 challenge colours for this fortnight and upload your card to our Colour INKspiration Facebook group.  Click here to visit.

CASEing the Catty #210 | Sale-A-Bration

Hello 2019!!!  After several years of using the same graphics, CASEing the Catty has had an update!!!  I love the new graphics – so bright & fresh!  Thanks to the crew members who contributed to the redesign!

A new year also bring us new CASEing the Catty crew members!!!  Welcome to the talented ladies who are joining us – Tina Gillespie, Lauren Meiklejohn, Michelle Strazds, Siobhan Fitzsimmons & Shannon Kissane.  All of these crafters have been regular contributors to CTC in 2018 and have been asked to join the design team.  Is joining a design team on your goals for 2019?  Make sure to participate in your favourite challenges on a regular basis as you never know when the design teams are on the lookout for more members!

We’re starting CTC for 2019 with a Sale-A-Bration hop.  There’s 19 pages of fabulous showing not only the great free products on offer until the end of March, but also Occasions & Annual Catalogue products they coordinate with.

I’ve chosen to case the layout & colours from the bag on page 6 and turn it into a card.

This layout is very versatile – an embossed background, central element and overlayed sentiment.  You could make it work for pretty much any set in the catalogue.

Needlepoint Nook CTC#210 | kelly kent

I’ve used the Needle & Thread bundle – primarily inspired by the sensational embossing die in the Needlepoint Elements Framelits.  I could use this on every card I make – it’s so pretty!

Needlepoint Nook CTC#210 | kelly kent

The detail in the stamps are amazing – just like they’ve been stitched!  I’ve used Crushed Curry, Calypso Coral and Crumb Cake to match the inspiration picture.

The ‘friend’ word is from a fabulous new bundle called Well Said.  It contains 51 cling stamps in the stamp set with various greetings and 24 dies containing staple words for papercrafting.  It’s an investment – but worth it with all the use you’ll get from this set.

It’s great to be back creating for challenges.  They are always such a source of inspiration for me.  I’m most inspired with a purpose and some direction – I suffer from severe lack of motivation without a specific card or task in mind!

There’s more fabulous inspiration on the hop.  Next stop is one of our talented new crew members – Michelle Strazds.
