WEDFEST Wedding Card

A friend of mine was invited to a WEDFEST wedding in the UK – and asked me to create the wedding card, to match the amazing invite.

I had never heard of a WEDFEST before, so I did a quick Google – wow!  So much fun!!!

Imagine going to a wedding that’s styled on a festival!!!  The theme totally revolves around all things awesome & cool!!!!

The event photos are fabulous and I have permission to share the beautiful bride and her sensational Lego bouquet – amazing!!!

Now, I won’t have to tell you how much fun it was to create a lanyard WEDFEST card to fit the theme!!!

This card is ‘oversize’ at twice the size of a normal card.  An event this big, needed a card to match!

The background was personalised and computer generated to include bride, groom & their 2 children plus “WEDFEST” to keep on theme!

The middle panel is a cello bag shaker card, again personalised with the wedding details, set on a brayered shimmery rainbow backdrop.

You hear this a lot on blogs, but the photos don’t do this card justice!

Wishing the newlyweds a lifetime of happiness!  If married life continues to be the party that WEDFEST was, then it’s going to be a fun ride!!!

Colour INKspiration #05

colour-inspiration-banner

Did you love the colours from last fortnight for Colour INKspiration?

We had so many people enjoying the bold & beautiful purple & yellows!!

This week for Colour INKspiration, we take a softer turn into the pastels.

Colour INKspiration #5

This trio of colours lend themselves so nicely to so many occasions!

My initial thought was a pretty wedding card…

Colour INKspiration #05 - Wedding Card. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

I had the idea to create the background piece by repetitively die cutting the floral centrepiece die (hexagon shaped die) from the Window Box Thinlits until the cardstock piece was covered.

I then overlayed it on the bokeh piece of DSP from the Falling In Love DSP.  This DSP pack is perfect for this challenge!!!

Once the background was finished, I added my sentiment on an oval stitched shape and decorated with a pink flower & blue butterfly.

Sometimes finding ways to keep within the constraints of the challenge colours is the best fun of a colour challenge!

I loved the wedding card, but  I couldn’t shake off the idea of using these colours for a baby card.

How cute are these little babies from the Moon Baby stamp set?

This card for some oh-so-cute twin boys born just a little while ago.

Colour INKspiration #05 - Twin Babies. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

Even though it was a traditional baby blue theme I was going for, the pink worked beautifully for a shower of hearts as they drifted down!

I’m so happy with this card!!!

One of the things I love most about CASEing the Catty is the layout inspiration – it’s always a wonderful starting point!

I turned the card at the bottom right into a wedding card…

And the card at the top left into a monster birthday card…

CASEing the Catty #92 Everyday Occasions

12371218_10153736740662158_9102306381153319857_o

Welcome to another CASEing the Catty Sunday blog hop.

Today it’s all about the Everyday Occasions section of the catalogue (pages 66-91).  This section contains many of my catalogue favourites, so I’m excited to see what the crew has come up with.

I’ve used the card & bag designs on page 73 as my inspiration to create a trio of wedding cards.

I love a classic & elegant wedding card.  And nothing says wedding to me more than metallics.

The bag on the left of the inspiration picture was the starting point of my card designs.  The copper through the DSP and the textured background lead to this creation…

Did you spot the *sneak peak* items from the Holiday Catalogue?  Embossed DSP (Fancy Frost) and Copper Foil!!!

Next up was the card on the right, to create this silver stunner…

Once again I’ve used the *sneak peak* Fancy Frost Speciality DSP.  The texture is amazing – you’ll easily fall in love with this DSP when you see it in person!

I’m not sure if all the Olympics I’ve been watching has infiltrated by crafting sub-consious, but I had a desire to make just one more card – in gold!

I carried through all the elements from the previous cards – metallic foil, Sunshine Wishes heart, Wedding Wishes label – and that beautiful Fancy Frost DSP.

Plus, one more *sneak peak* – we’re getting gold baker’s twine. It’s so thin & delicate and just beautiful to tie.  It comes in a pack with Cherry Cobbler & Garden Green which makes it perfect for all your Christmas projects – and more!

Wedding Wishes – Bloomin’ Heart Dress

This idea has been floating around for a while since chatting to a friend about the possibilities for the Bloomin’ Heart die but it’s taken a little while to make it to the top of the to-do list.

But here we are – on a Saturday that I hope is the perfect wedding day for many brides around the world.  As it gets colder here in WA we are nearing the end of our ‘wedding season’.  Though you never can quite tell what the weather will be like at any time of the year!

Mr P & I got married in February, which is notoriously hot in Australia.  Low & behold it was 40 degrees + all week (and we’d chosen black on black suits for the groomsmen!) and there was a bit of weather panic going on.  Not that we needed to worry – Friday 13th rolled around and luck was on our side with a beautiful 29 degree day.

This photo is one of my favourites.  Not the classic pose & look dreamily into each other’s eyes (though we have some of those too) but a shot that captures the fun we were having on one of the most wonderful days of my life.

Enough photos???

So, back to that conversion about what else the beautiful Bloomin’ Heart Thinlit could be.  Of course – with that lace-like texture and great shape, would it make a wonderful wedding dress skirt?  Paired with the detailed little butterfly from the Bold Butterfly Framelits, it’s a wedding dress made in paper heaven!  So pretty!

Bloomin' Heart Thinlit & Bold Butterfly Framelit - Wedding Dress Art. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

The tux was a little more boring – and not nearly as important!  I made sure the stunning wedding dress was front & centre of this card.

Bloomin' Heart Thinlit & Bold Butterfly Framelit - Wedding Dress Art. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

Happy wedding day to all those happy couples out there!  Everything about my wedding day was perfect and I’d go back and do it a million times over!  Though I wish I gotten married {AFTER} I found Stampin’ Up! and Pinterest!  Kelly x
