CASEing the Catty #214 | Sale-A-Bration

If you’ve been tracking school holiday fun here at Papercraft HQ, then it’s my sad news to tell you that school goes back tomorrow!   I really enjoy school holidays – fun activities, lazy mornings and summer fun!  But all good things must come to an end!

The kids are super excited – and I am too about the potential concept of more craft time during the day!!!  And being a touch more organised with two of the three Little Papercrafts out of the house!!!

No photo description available.

I missed the deadline for sign up this week’s CASEing the Catty – but thanks to the lovely Kathryn Mangelsdorf whose blog you may have just visited, I snuck in at the last minute to share this cute little gift set I made for a friend.

I drew inspiration from a number of sources for the inside & outside of the gift set!

The calendar and gift box styling are CASEd from my ESAD Blog Hop projects.  See here for the original designs.

I filled the box with tea pot note cards inspired by a gorgeous project I saw by Dee Copus-Read – see her teapots here

The teapot styling was CASEd from this photo in the Sale-A-Bration catalogue…

I have been admiring the colouring of the striped teapot since the SAB catalogue landed on my desk!  I don’t have the artistic touch required for such amazing watercolouring.  If you’d like to have a go – Alisa Tilsner made a great tutorial – click here to visit.

Instead, I used a tip shared by Artisan Design Team member – Emma Goddard.  Emma simply used an Aqua Painter to draw stripes across the cardstock before she stamped with the tea pot & cut with the die.  Easy but amazing!  I swiped left and then right across each line so I could get some variation in colour profile – and this suited my natural technique of uneven colour application!!

Share What You Love Tea Pot Gift Set | kelly kent

I used this technique in 3 different colours to suit the DSP colours (2 of each) plus on the back of the 3″ envelopes.  It’s a snug fit, but the teapots can be convinced to sit nicely in the envelopes (which is perfect!).

Share What You Love Tea Pot Gift Set | kelly kent

To turn the teapots into note cards, I simply folded my Whisper White cardstock in half before die cutting.  I then used by Stamparatus – set up with a carefully placed template – to stamp the teapot image.

I love the collaboration of this project – all the ideas I’d seen from Stampin’ Up! and other demonstrators sharing online – helped me to create something special.  And now here I am sharing with you.  It reflected the share what we love so well!

Thank you for joining me today!  And again to Kathryn!

There’s a full supply list at the end of this post with links to the online store for easy shopping.  The fabulous teapot framelits are available as a Sale-A-Bration redemption with any $180+ order.  Don’t forget to add the Tea Together stamp set (page 49) to your order to own the coordinating set.

Speaking of coordinating sets – did you see that lots more of the Sale-A-Bration stamp sets will have coordinating dies available in March!!!  I’ll post more details during the week.

Next up you are off to visit Shannon Kissane and her cute canine creation!

Please join us on the CASEing the Catty Facebook page to join the challenge by sharing your catalogue inspired project.

See you next week!

For all my WA followers with children starting school tomorrow, I hope it’s a smooth transition for you & your family!

Paper Adventures Team Blog Hop | Photo Inspiration

Paper Adventures - Blog Hop Header

Hello, happy Friday!!!

Thanks for joining us for July’s Paper Adventures team hop.

Today the team, along with our guest designer – Sharon Dalton – are using this gorgeous photo by Paper Adventures team member Siobhan Fitzsimmons, to inspire our creativity.

Image may contain: flower, plant, nature, text and outdoor

There was no further instructions – team members could take whatever they liked about this picture and use it for their creative spark.  It could be the colours, the patterns, the nature theme, the bees…… and I can’t wait for you to see what they’ve made.

I used the colours of the flower to inspire a bold watercolour background.  I started with Crushed Curry and blended in Lovely Lipstick before adding some highlights with Real Red ink.  Watercolouring always softens the colours and gives such a lovely effect.

Artfully Folded Watercolour | kelly kent

To replicate the bees, I gold embossed the paper cranes from the Artfully Folded stamp set.  This set is another host exclusive – available only to purchase with Stampin’ Rewards.

The gold embossing is so pretty in the light!

CASEing the Catty #185 | Best Route

Life is chilly (and wet on some days) in the south-west corner of Australia at the moment.  Which makes it perfect crafting weather.  I confess to a few pyjama days lately spent at the craft table!  And perhaps plans for a few more!

Thanks for joining me tonight for CASEing the Catty where we take inspiration from the pages of the Stampin’ Up! catalogue.

This week it’s the Best Route suite and subsequent pages.

I seem to make a lot of baby cards for challenges!  This one was inspired by the pink dreamcatcher card on page 54.

The card is going to the parents of a little princess born during the week, so I kept the pretty Blushing Bride colour scheme.

Follow Your Dreams baby card | kelly kent

Other colours in this card are silver embossing & foil, Blushing Bride watercolouring on Shimmery White and Rose Glimmer paper (new & improved).

The Follow Your Dreams stamp set & coordinating Chase Your Dreams Framelits are beautiful!

I added the Tufted Embossing Folder to the background layer – which I had previously overlooked in the catalogue, but quickly added because it’s gorgeous!!!

The personalised name pennant was made using the Pick a Pennant stamp set and that beautiful ribbon you see is from the Metallic Ribbon combo pack.

Stamp Review Crew | Beautiful You

Hey there!  Thanks for joining us for this edition of the Stamp Review Crew.

You’re hopping with an international line-up of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators, all creating with the same stamp set.

Currently, you’re with Kelly Kent in Bunbury, Western Australia.

I’m nestled in between two lovely roses from the US – Linda Callahan before me and Heidi Baks after me.  Click on the ‘next’ button below to visit Heidi when you’re done with my projects.

Today’s stamp set is the very popular Beautiful You…

We first saw this at the Brisbane OnStage event in November 2016 and there was a very collective ‘ooooo’ around the auditorium.

Since it’s release, there have been some truly beautiful and very innovative cards made with this set.

You’re going to love the fresh eyes the Stamp Review Crew bring to it today!

I’ve decided to combine it with the newly released “Beachy Little Christmas” stamp set.

The beach shack stamp is just perfect for the dancing/cartwheeling lady.  She’s my favourite – so carefree & happy!

The first concept has been swirling around in my mind for over a week now and was such fun to bring to life!

Stamp Review Crew Beautiful You | kelly kent

It has a shaker portion within the card front, the lady dancing across the card and the shacks peeking through from the middle!

Stamp Review Crew Beautiful You | kelly kent

I’ve stamped one of my favourite sentiments from the set in Black Archival ink directly onto the Window Sheet.

Stamp Review Crew Beautiful You | kelly kent

This is the middle of the card – the shaker section is hidden by a third panel which I folded into the middle of the card.

Stamp Review Crew Beautiful You | kelly kent

How cute are those beach shacks all lined up?

Once this card was finished, it inspired me to make another card, with similar elements, but not the shaker section.

Stamp Review Crew Beautiful You | kelly kent

I’m actually tempted to say I like this one better… Isn’t it funny how things sometimes come together out of nowhere!

Stamp Review Crew Beautiful You | kelly kent

I stamped the lady first and then used the masking technique to block her out while I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to line up the beach shacks.

The colouring was done using ink pads & an Aqua Painter – my preferred way of colouring.  So quick, easy & forgiving!

Thanks for joining me for today’s hop.

Next up is the lovely Heidi Baks & her fabulous use of the Beautiful stamp set.

If you’re visiting from Australia and need any stamping supplies, I can help you out in my online store.

A full list of supplies for my cards is featured below.

CASEing the Catty #116 Succulent Garden

12371218_10153736740662158_9102306381153319857_o

Hello Sunday!  Did you have a great weekend?  Are you already counting down the days until the next one?

I am!  Because next weekend I’m going on craft retreat!!!  A whole weekend to do nothing but make cards!

Heaven – right???

But there’s a whole week of work ahead, including a full schedule of posts this week.

You can look forward to a CASEing the Catty hop tonight, Stamp Review Crew tomorrow, Colour INKspiration on Wednesday and Just Add Ink on Thursday night!!!

So much inspiration as I join lots of talented demos around the world who will freely share their creativity with us.

So, what is the CTC crew up to today?

It’s all about the Occasions catalogue today as we’re CASEing projects and ideas from the Succulent Garden section – pages 20-31.

CASEing the Catty #116 Succulent Garden

It’s quite a big section covering the Succulent Garden suite plus That’s the Tag bundle, Beautiful You, Watercolor Pencils, High Tide, Dragonfly Dreams, Milestone Moments, Chase Your Dreams, Lucky Elephant, Mediterranean Moments, Custom Tee bundle & Tie Dyed.

Lots of best sellers in that list – so you can expect to see some blockbuster creations on this hop!!!

Quite a few of the sets mentioned above are in high rotation on my craft table at the moment – so it was hard to narrow it down.

But, I kept coming back to this pretty photo using the Beautiful You stamp set…

Images © Stampin' Up!

I have actually already CASEd the bottom card exactly – because I love the colours and styling.

But for this CTC hop, I wanted to step it up and use the elements I love so much to ‘make it my own’.

CASEing the Catty #116 - Beautiful You & Mediterranean Moments. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

So, I…

  • kept the DSP panel but shifted it left
  • used a doily but as a centerpiece rather than hiding it behind the DSP
  • featured the girl but added in a gold embossed Mediterranean Moments scene
  • changed the sentiment
  • used vellum behind the doily, rather than for the sentiment
  • changed the yellow to Sweet Sugarplum

CASEing the Catty #116 - Beautiful You & Mediterranean Moments. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

I’m very happy with the final layout (it look at little bit of putting the pieces together!).

It contains so many of my favourite elements (Sweet Sugarplum & Pool Party, gold embossing, amazing doily, my favourite lady & vellum!).

Looking at a card like this and knowing that I made it, makes me very happy.

What a hobby!!!

CASEing the Catty #114 Sending Love

12371218_10153736740662158_9102306381153319857_o

Hi there!  As we get closer to a big week of love, today at CASEing the Catty, we’re being inspired by the “Sending Love” pages of the Occasions catalogue – pages 14-19.

Images © Stampin' Up!

When I say a big week of love, I’m not kidding in my house.

Next week sees Valentine’s Day, our wedding anniversary and Miss Papercraft’s 6th birthday.

There’s a few cards still to make on my to-do list!  I should have multi-tasked, but there was a photo in the catalogue that I couldn’t go past.

I’m totally in love with the cute images from the Moon Baby stamp set, and love the catalogue sample.

Images © Stampin' Up!

But it was the ‘swirly’ type embellishment that caught my eye.

This and the cute bow die was the sole reason I bought the Balloon Pop Up Thinlits!!!

So, when I saw it in the catalogue, mixed with the Moon Baby stamp – I knew I had to CASE it!

I wanted a softer, more traditional colour pallette for my baby cards, so I created pink & mint versions.

CASEing the Catty #114 Sending Love. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

The dotty background was a bolder version of the subtle splatter on the sample card.  I made it by stamping the spotty stamp from the Perpetual Birthday stamp set in Blushing Bride or Mint Macaron, Smoky Slate & gold heat embossing.

CASEing the Catty #114 Sending Love. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

I swapped the rectangle for the largest stitched circle – because so in love with those framelits.  And it’s all about love this week!

And finished the card off with the sweet ‘twinkle twinkle’ sentiment from the stamp – gold embossed of course!

Thanks for sharing another blog hop with me!  I hoping you’re enjoying all the weekly inspiration from my blog and my stamping friends.

Next up is the lovely Elizabeth Gross & her take on the same photo inspiration – you’ll love what she’s created!!!
