Stamp Review Crew | Many Messages

Hello! Happy Easter! Did the Easter Bunny arrive at your place? Easter chocolate is my favourite so I always make sure to buy a little extra to keep me going through the next couple of months.

I’m hopping today with my friends from around the world. We’re sharing projects using the Many Messages stamp set and coordinating Messages Dies.

Although this stamp set can stand alone in its use, I think it’s best used to complement other themes and sets in your collection. It’s a one-stop shop for all occasions sentiments. But, since this hop is all about this bundle, I’ve tried to incorporate more than just the greetings by using the dies to create a background mosaic as well.

Many Messages | kelly kent

The first card uses the pretty purples in the range to create a ‘magical’ themed card. To coordinate with the styling of the sentiments, I’ve paired with the Hippo Happiness stamp set & dies.

Many Messages | kelly kent

The base is Purple Posy cardstock – sized at 5″ wide and 6-1/8″ long – to accommodate the full die set. I am trying to be more flexible with my card sizing this year and this was the perfect opportunity. I’ve double layered all those die cuts, using the negative to space them as per the layout on the die plate. The double layer gives nice depth and texture without the full height of dimensionals.

Many Messages | kelly kent

The rainbow is cut using different patterns from the range of DSP stacks I have in my collection – past, future and current. The colours are Gorgeous Grape, Highland Heather and Purple Posy. They are layered on a vellum circle and finished with a heart from the Be Mine Stitched Dies. The rainbow is a cut file I used on my Cameo. You could easily cut something simliar by hand. If you have an e-cutter and would like this gorgeous pattern, you can purchase it from On the Beach Boutique.

The second card uses the same styling but in different colours and another flexible card size.

Many Messages | kelly kent

This card base is Thick Basic White cardstock in 4-1/2″ x 4-1/2″ and I’ve again used tone-on-tone for the die cut background.

Many Messages | kelly kent

The rainbow is Magneta Madness, Misty Moonlight, Goregeous Grape and Bumblebee – and from the DSP stack that is coming up in the 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue which gets released in May. They were a special pre-purchase available in demonstrators during Sale-A-Bration or part of the starter kit for demonstrators who joined during Sale-A-Bration.

Do you have a favourite? Ombre purples or the bright rainbow?

There really is sentiments to suit a whole range of occasions. The sentments are all on one large stamp and the die plate is also one full piece so you do all the hard work in on motion (well two – stamp once, cut once!). Use some immediately and then save the rest for when you get a quick greeting on a card.

To see how the rest of the crew used the range of sentiments, please keep hopping. The next stop is the gorgeous Ann Schach is the USA.

Thanks for hopping with us today. To see the full line up of amazing designers, please visit the main Stamp Review Crew blog.

Have a great week!

Peek-A-Hoot Dies | Unicorns

I shared a post a couple of days ago with my top 3 products from the Aug-Dec 2020 Mini Catalogue.  You can see the full post here including the cutest card made using all three products.

If you’re a take home message kinda person, my top 3 was:

  1. Banners Pick A Punch
  2. Peek-A-Hoot Dies
  3. All the new DSP! I used the Heartwarming Hugs in my card.

I promised that the Peek-A-Hoot Dies were super versatile and an absolute must-have for your collection.  The three part window component of the Peek-A-Hoot Dies create a fabulous structure for your project.

Here’s what they look like when combined with the unicorn stamp and sentiment from the Hippo Happiness stamp set (one of my top recommendations from the 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue!).

This is the revised edition! When I originally posted this card, I had completely forgotten to add horns to the unicorns! Whoops! Thankfully I have amazing friends looking out for me!!

I have turned the card so the dies are being used in landscape orientation, but otherwise the elements of the card are largely the same.

The DSP for this project is Playing with Patterns, which inspired the colours for the unicorns and cardstock in each window.  The cardstock for the windows is embossed using the Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder.

The unicorns are Daffodil Delight & Bumblebee, Blushing Bride & Rococo Rose and Highland Heather & Gorgeous Grape.

I added a banner in the top corner using the new Banners Pick A Punch with some white twine.  The twine is retired but I’m finding it so hard to give up that I’m just gonna keep using it til I run out or Stampin’ Up! bring it back!!!

The stitching around those boxes adds such a sweet texture to the card.  I have so many ideas on how I want to use this set that I’m already planning another card and blog post to share soon!

I hope your weekend is wonderful and filled with lots of creativity!

Social Stamping | animals

Hello!  Thanks for joining us for today’s Social Stamping Blog Host.  I’m joined by some amazing designers to share projects with the theme ‘animals’.  To see a full list of everyone joining in today, click here for the participant list.

I had a hard time deciding which stamp set to use for this hop – I’ve collected a few with animals and they are all super cute!  After receiving my preorder of new Stampin’ Up! products from the 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue during the week, I decided the new Flowers for Every Season DSP was perfect for the retiring Leave A Little Magic stamp set.

Leave A Little Magic | kelly kent

This time of year is my favourite for mixing the old & the new.  New colours and patterns are an easy way to freshen up a stamp set that has been neglected in your stash!

2020-2022 In Colors | kelly kent

The new In Colors for 2020-2022 are Magenta Madness (used here for the card base) plus Just Jade, Bumblebee, Mist Moonlight (all seen in the DSP) and Cinnamon Cider.  I’m in love!!!

Leave A Little Magic | kelly kent

The style of this card has a flat base and then a folded card in the middle.  It’s super fun to make and so easy!

Leave A Little Magic | kelly kent

There’s a fold over band, which I’ve tucked under the unicorn’s feet to keep it flat.

Leave A Little Magic | kelly kent

The unicorn was stamped on Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper, heat embossed in silver and coloured with an Aqua Painter and inks (Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry & Pretty Peacock).  The body of the unicorn has been layered with Frost White Shimmer Paint (which no matter how I tried I couldn’t capture the shimmer in the photo).

Leave A Little Magic | kelly kent

Every unicorn needs a floral crown, so I fussy cut a few flowers from the DSP and added them for a finishing touch.

I can’t wait for you to see more with these new colours.  They are bright and fun and I know you’re going to love them!  New catalogue ordering is available from 3rd June 2020, or join my Paper Adventures Team now to get early access and a great discount!

If there’s any retiring products from the 2019-2020 Annual Catalogue that you’d still like to order, you will need to do so ASAP.  Click here to browse the Last Chance Retirement List in my online store.

Just Add Ink #477 | Sketch

It’s a fabulous sketch for Just Add Ink tonight!

Image may contain: text

This sketch could take you anywhere!  The design team have had such fun with it – flipping it, rotating it, stretching it and making it into wonderful cards!  We’d like you to do the same – share your project inspired by this sketch to the gallery on the Just Add Ink blog.

I’ve added a touch of magic to the sketch with the unicorn from the Leave a Little Sparkle stamp set.  I’ve been having fun with this sweet set – it’s perfect in a house with lots of girls!

Leave a Little Sparkle | kelly kent

The unicorn is heat embossed in silver and then had its mane coloured with Watercolour Pencils – Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry & Bermuda Bay.

Leave a Little Sparkle | kelly kent

For the background, I clear heat embossed the stars on Shimmery White and then blended inks – Melon Mambo, Gorgeous Grape & Bermuda Bay .Before adding ink.

Add in a bit of Whisper White Polka Dot Ribbon, a Melon Mambo lace border, a white heat embossed sentiment and a couple of pearls  – and we’re done!

Leave a Little Sparkle | kelly kent

This card will be perfect for the next girly party we go to!  It’s always handy to have some cards on hand for when life gets a bit busy and there’s more parties than craft time!

Just Add Ink #418 | Colour Challenge

There’s a 5 year old in our house this week!!!  The Littlest Miss Papercraft turned 5 yesterday – so it’s been birthday central at our house with cake, parties and presents.

Miss Papercraft’s 5th birthday extravaganza didn’t have a specific theme, but unofficially we ended up in the direction of unicorns & princesses.

The Just Add Ink colour challenge was perfect for me this week – a beautiful, soft colour palette that was an amazing unicorn combination!

Image may contain: text

Because it’s a unicorn, and unicorns are magical, I’ve added lots (and lots) of gold to make this combination extra special.  You can add any neutrals (black, white, vanilla, kraft) or metallics to complement the Just Add Ink challenge colours.

Petal Palette Unicorn | kelly kent

The crown of flowers was made using the Petal Palette stamp set.  I’ve stamped it twice in Versamark on Shimmery White cardstock, embossed in gold & cut it out using the framelit.  The flowers are then coloured with an Aqua Painter in Daffodil Delight & Blushing Bride, and the leaves with Soft Sea Foam.

Petal Palette Unicorn | kelly kent

The unicorn touches (horn & eyes) are from a non-Stampin’ Up! set (Pinkfresh Studio – Magical Unicorn).  I recently added them to my stash so I could mix them in with my Stampin’ Up! supplies and make gorgeous unicorn creations.  As much as it would be amazing for Stampin’ Up! to have everything in their catalogue that each of their loyal stampers wanted, it’s just not possible!

The beautiful sparkle you see on the background of the card is the new & improved Gold Glimmer.  It sheds less and has a smoother background, which makes it easier to die cut & stick to projects.  There’s 4 colours – gold, silver, rose & sparkle.

Petal Palette Unicorn | kelly kent

The sentiment is from the Fairy Celebration stamp set.  I love how it rolls across the bottom of the card!

The finishing touch is coloured pearls.  The pink is from the Share What You Love Artisan Pearls and the gold is from the Metallic Pearls.  I love having so many beautiful pearl options in the new catalogue.  I use this style of embellishment most often to add a bit of ‘wow’ to my cards.

The other ‘wow’ is extra layers of cardstock on the inside of the card and stamping in the corners.

Petal Palette Unicorn | kelly kent

The stars from the Twinkle Twinkle stamp set were just perfect for the theme.

Look at all that sparkle!!!

The cards I made for today’s blog hop are based on the theory of design I talk about in my Stamp In Confidence module two video.  Stamp In Confidence is a tutorial program I have developed with my gorgeous friend Lou Kitzelman.  Visit the blog here for all the info.

Stamp Review Crew - Magical Day | kelly kent

As I’ve been putting together the content for this video, I’ve been spending a lot of time thinking about design.  How I design cards, what ‘rules’ I use and what are the important elements of design when making cards.

Module Two brings all this together in a video tutorial with written information to support it.  If you’ve been feeling like you need a bit of guidance so that you can independently design cards with confidence – you’ll love Stamp In Confidence.

Here’s the close up of each of the cards – they were so fun to make!

If you haven’t visited our new blog, you can find all the details about our new online class modules at https://stampinconfidence.blogspot.com.au/.

The colours for this challenge are stunning with an awesome inspiration photo to get the creativity flowing – do I say this every week???

No automatic alt text available.

Three sweet colours – Bermuda Bay, Sweet Sugarplum & Lemon Lime Twist plus a solid neutral – Soft Suede.  You can add any other neutral or metallic to your project to complete your colour palette.  If you don’t have the exact Stampin’ Up! match, create with the closest you have.

My creation starts with a story…..

I have this amazing crafty friend.  She’ll play with any craft medium but sewing is where her passion & skill lies.  She makes the most amazing quilted artworks.  See some of her work on Instagram (click here).

We lives hours apart so don’t catch up as often as we’d like, but whenever she comes for a visit, she’s straight to my shelf of stamps checking out what’s new and suggesting all kind of crazy stamping combinations.  She sees the world in a totally different way to me – it’s wonderful!

She fell in love with the unicorn from the Magical Day stamp set and spent quite some time brainstorming a rainbow farting unicorn!

So, here you are Miss Caity…. this is your rainbow tooting unicorn…

Rainbow Unicorn | kelly kent

I used the baby wipe technique with the Star of Light swirl to create the ‘rainbow farts’.

Baby Wipe Technique | kelly kent

Making your own multi-coloured ink pad is a great way to get a variety of colour tones in your stamped image.

Rainbow Unicorn | kelly kent

And those unicorns – don’t they look happy with themselves!

Did you spy that they are facing different ways?  The unicorn at the top is stamped exactly from the stamp set.

The unicorn at the bottom is a mirror image created using the reflection technique.

Simply stamp your image onto Window Sheet (acetate) and then press onto your cardstock.  I used Basic Gray Archival Ink.

Reflection Technique - Unicorn | kelly kent

This will give you an outline, which I then followed using my Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Marker.  To get the same effect on your ‘right way’ unicorn, stamp off the unicorn several times, then stamp onto your carstock and trace using the marker.  Stamping at full strength will make the colour too dark to effectively trace over.

To cut out the reverse unicorn using the framelit, hold it against a window and line up on the ‘wrong side’.  Hold it in place with some washi tape while you run it through the Big Shot.  Or you could just fussy cut…… your call!

Using a Framelit with the Reflection Technique | kelly kent

PS….. I think our windows need a clean!

The unicorn comes up great – you can’t even tell it’s a reflection!

Use your Stampin’ Write Markers to colour the unicorn mane/tail.

Reflection Technique - Unicorn | kelly kent

I could have gone with any of the birthday (or other) sentiments in my stash, but I thought the ‘cue the confetti’ sentiment from the Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set was cute & cheeky for this card!

Rainbow Unicorn | kelly kent

Thanks for joining me for today’s Colour INKspiration blog hop.

Paper Adventures Team Blog Hop | Animals

Paper Adventures - Blog Hop Header

Hello & welcome to our February team hop.

We have another full line up for you including our guest designer – Chloe Evans.  Each post links to another – either on a website or on Facebook – so keep clicking on next or the linking address until you’ve seen all the great projects.

Today’s theme is animals – so many options from bugs & bees to birds & pandas.

I’ve gone a little rogue and my creations are mythical animals from the Magical Day stamp set and Myths & Magic suite.

Myths & Magic | kelly kent

With little people in the house, magical & mythical was an absolute joy to see in the catalogue and I added this suite to my collection as soon as I could!

My first card features the most wonderful girly mythical animal – the unicorn!

Magical Day | kelly kent

It’s fun & blingy with sparkly clouds made from shimmery embossing paste, more sparkly clouds from the Myths & Macis Glimmer Paper, a pastel rainbow using the Rainbow Builder Framelits, a coordinating sentiment from the Magical Mermaid stamp set and of course, a shimmery unicorn to finish it all off!

I love how the stamps & accessories in my collection complement each other so well.  There’s there separate stamp/die elements in this card – but they all go together so seamlessly.

The second card is a quick & fun card that uses the clever DSP to create the background.

Myths & Magic | kelly kent

This DSP is a ‘specialty’ pack and one side of each design has glitter features.  So stunning!

So I just added a sentiment – again coordinating my existing stamps (Thoughtful Banners stamp set) with the ‘magical’ from the Magical Day stamp set.

I didn’t have to think too much about colours for this card – I just picked from the ones used in the DSP.  Smoky Slate for the card base, Tranquil Tide for the mat and Lemon Lime Twist and Bermuda Bay for the sentiment.Using the power of the DSP is an easy but stunning way to make cards!

Thanks for joining me to see my mythical animal creations.

Next stop is Mandy Depiazzi and her awesome animal creativity!

If you get lost at any point of the hop, there’s a list below of everyone who is joining in.  I love my wonderful Paper Adventure team!!!

To see the list of products I used for each card, see the gallery below.

And, just a reminder about the great joining special available until 31st March…

CASEing the Catty #162 | Sweet Soiree

I’m excited to be hopping today with the CASEing the Catty Crew.

The theme for this beautiful Sunday is pages 10-14 of the Occasions Catalogue.  Most of this section is the gorgeous samples showcasing the Sweet Soiree Suite.

Image may contain: text

It was the shaker card on page 10 that caught my eye – the card below next to the yellow cake…

Sweet Soirée

I didn’t buy the stamp set & framelits from the Occasions catalogue – I started with the Sweet Soiree Embellishment Kit…

It’s full of the same elements & features of the stamp set and DSP – but already beautifully coloured and cut.

The embellishments formed the first theme for my CASEd shaker card…

CASEing the Catty #162 Sweet Soiree | kelly kent

I used a 4″ x 12″ piece of the Sweet Soiree DSP, scored at 6″, as the card base.  Because this is a specialty DSP, it’s crisp & strong.  Such a deluxe touch to have DSP across the whole card!

CASEing the Catty #162 Sweet Soiree | kelly kent

The flowers, ribbon & tassel are all from the embellishment kit.  The sentiment is from the Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set.  The shaker fill is silver glitter.

There’s two other Speciality Papers in the Occasions catalogue with the same texture/weight – Painted with Love and Myths & Magic.  So, I created two more variations using the same layout & styling.

Painted with Love…

CASEing the Catty #162 Painted with Love | kelly kent

This card has the new Gold Glitter Flakes as the shaker insert.  It doesn’t shake – but clings to the Window Sheet due to the high surface area & static content.  Cool effect!!!

CASEing the Catty #162 Painted with Love | kelly kent

Myths & Magic….

CASEing the Catty #162 Myths & Magic | kelly kent

The shaker component of this card is the Metallics Sequins.  Sequins are my go-to when I want a really good shaker insert!

CASEing the Catty #162 Myths & Magic | kelly kent

How cute is the unicorn???

In a house of girls, it’s going to get a good workout here!

There’s so much I love in the Occasions catalogue.  I could buy the whole thing without taking a breath!

To see more beautiful projects using the Sweet Soiree Suite and other new products, click through the blog hop – the Crew have done a fabulous job (as always!).

From here, you’re visiting Queensland and the wonderful Megan Lenske.

If you’d like to join the challenge to CASE the gorgeous catalogue project, you can find the challenge page on Facebook.  Click here to take you to the Facebook page.

Thanks so much for visiting today.  I hope you have an amazing week!!!

Cool & Cute Shaker Cards

Hello Saturday!  I’m in total awe of the weekends now that our weeks are so busy!

It’s a time to sleep in, catch up with friends and, when the weather is good, find some sun!

This weekend we have a 4th birthday party to attend, so I’ve been playing around with some girly shaker cards.

The first version is yesterday’s class card using the Cool Treats bundle.

Cool Treats Shaker Card. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

How cute are the Sprinkles Embellishments???

The second version was inspired by the awesome unicorn card that Jenni from paulinespapier made.

I just loved the cute unicorn & couldn’t wait to add one to a card of mine!

Cute Unicorn Shaker Card. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

The Sprinkles not only make for good shaker material – but also as a unicorn crown!

This is one of my favourite little sayings!

I hope you have a fabulous weekend with perfect weather & filled with the perfect mix of weekend magic!
