Social Stamping | new normal

Hey there, thanks for stopping by for a Social Stamping Blog Host with my friends.  You can see the full list of designers who have joined in for this theme by clicking here.

As we ease from COVID into post COVID, we settle into what is now our new normal.  There’s some really wonderful things we are taking from the lessons of a global pandemic.  We’re also at the start of a new catalogue – yay!  So, the theme for today’s blog hop is “new”.

When reflecting on this theme, and my experiences during COVID, one of the things I really enjoyed was the simplicity and space that being at home more and being less busy allowed.  As we pave a path forwards into what life looks like after the coronavirus of 2020, the pace is picking up and I miss the lazy starts to the day, the time to bake (and craft!) and being able to spend time being fun with the kids.  I’d like to keep some of the simplicity and luxury of time that we experienced and build this into our new normal.

I wanted the essence of simplicity to come through in my cards for today’s hop, so as well as using new products, I’ve used simple stamping (well, simple compared to my usual style).

Jar of Flowers | kelly kent

My cards today feature the Jar Punch in a solid colour, cut twice to make it a little shorter.  Cut once as usual, then feed the bottom of the jar back into the bottom of the punch and punch again.

The white panel used as the backdrop for the card is cut from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies (scalloped rectangle) and then embossed with the new Tasteful Texture Embossing Folder.  This is a fabulous addition to the range of embossing folders – just a bit more texture than the Subtle folder, but still very nondescript so it doesn’t detract from your theme. I’ve used the same die set for the sentiment, which is white heat embossed from the Forever Fern stamp set.

With simple in mind, I just love the look of a leafy die in the jar.  Not to complicate things, I used the same colours and general styling and created two more cards.

Forever Flourishing Dies | kelly kent

The sentiment for this card is stamped directly onto the jar and is from the Many Mates stamp set.  This versatile set is going to be a favourite from this catalogue for all your greeting needs.

I’m sad that the Whisper White twine has retired, but there’s still a couple of twine options in the new catalogue.  The blue (Misty Moonlight / Night of Navy) cards feature the Misty Moonlight / silver Baker’s Twine from the Flowers for Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack.  The pink (Blushing Bride / Rococo Rose) cards feature Linen Thread – a staple favourite.

Thanks for joining me today.  Next fabulous designer to visit is Lisa Whitehead with her beautiful new project.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Stamp Review Crew | Timeless Tulips

Good morning buttercups – or is that tulips?

I’m hopping with my international stamping friends and I know you’re going to love the inspiration to follow!  If you’ve hopped from Cindy’s blog – welcome!

Today’s chosen stamp set for the Stamp Review Crew is Timeless Tulips and the coordinating Tulip Builder Punch.

For a little bit of whimsy (in a time when we can’t let life get to serious), I made my flowers into rainbow tulips.

You won’t find these growing in nature – they are dyed with split stems to create this effect, but oh-so-pretty nonetheless!  Our local farmer’s market often sells roses with this gorgeous colour pattern.

The tulips were easy to make using the Stamparatus.  I added each ink one colour at a time with Sponge Daubers, pressing down between each ink so the colours didn’t blend.  The colours are Gorgeous Grape, Coastal Cabana, Daffodil Delight & Melon Mambo for the flowers and Granny Apple Green for the stems.

This stamp set has a coordinating punch – no fussy cutting required and super quick to get all those tulips ready for a cute little bunch.  I’ve added some Old Olive splatters on the Whisper White behind the tulips for a touch of texture and tied all the tulip stems together with Whisper White 1/4″ Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon.  I’ve left it white , but this ribbon takes colour so easily using Stampin’ Blends or your ink pad.

The DSP for this card is from the Honey Bee Specialty pack which was a reward choice during the 2020 Sale-A-Bration.  It was so popular that it’s all gone now, but until Tuesday evening, there’s heaps of other products you can add to your order when you spend $90 or more.

I’m finding myself using hello sentiments a lot lately.  Timeless Tulips has a beautiful font and this ‘hello’ looks great heat embossed in black.

To see more tulip projects, please keep hopping.  Next blog to visit is my friend Charlet Mallett.

I hope your week is full of pretty colours!

Stamp Review Crew | Beautiful Bouquet

Happy Monday!

I’m delighted to be hopping with the Stamp Review Crew today.  It’s the first SRC hop of the new catalogue cycle and to give ourselves a little breathing room with our new catalogue orders arriving, we are sharing projects today with a gorgeous stamp set that’s carrying over from the 2017-18 catalogue – Beautiful Bouquet.

There are coordinating thinlits for this set which increases the wonderful creative options for everything floral you could ever want to make!!!

I’m sharing two projects today.  This z-fold card is the first….

Beautiful Bouquet | kelly kent

I’ve been wanting to try this layout since it arrived in my mailbox as a birthday card from one of my wonderful Paper Adventures teamies – Siobhan Fitzsimmons.  See her card here.  The full card front z-fold is so luxurious – especailly when layered with gorgeous DSP!

Beautiful Bouquet | kelly kent

There’s so many floral bouquet options you can make with this stamp set – my favourites are tulips.  Mr Papercraft scored lots of brownie points for my tulip birthday delivery!

My tulips are Lovely Lipstick, Crushed Curry & Pineapple Punch.

The tulip colours were a wonderful match to the the bright & fun Garden Impressions DSP.  The reverse patterns in this series are lovely for adding a pop of colour to your project.

Beautiful Bouquet | kelly kent

While I had the Garden Impressions DSP on my table, I was reminded of my other favourite floral – blue flowers!  The Farmer’s Market near us does the most amazing flowers and they often have blue flowers in their posies – always so stunning!

So, this simple, no-sentiment card is an ode to the power of a pretty blue flower!

Beautiful Bouquet | kelly kent

The blue for this card is the new 2018-2020 In Color – Blueberry Bushel.  Doesn’t that colour just pop – especially when paired with white!

I can’t wait for you to see what the rest of the crew have shared today using all those pretty flowers!

Next to visit is Jay Soriano from Mitosu Crafts in the UK.

Stamping Sunday Blog Hop – Wood Textures Suite

Hello! And welcome to blog hop #2 this afternoon.  It’s a packed schedule, but I have a shocking habit of not saying no!!!

Our Stamping Sunday team has grown, so welcome to the new members who are hopping today!

Sara has chosen the awesome Wood Textures suite today and I can’t wait to see what everyone has made!

My projects today were inspired by the gorgeous flowers Nanna Papercraft sent me on my birthday.

Birthday Tulips | kelly kent

Tulips are one of my favourite flowers!!!  When I saw the Tranquil Tulips stamp set in the new catalogue I let out a little squeal!!!

It will be available in the Annual Catalogue as a set that can be purchased with host rewards.

Project number one for this blog hop is a tulip planter box.  I love the glass vase my tulips came in – so stylish!

To recreate this, I made the Wood Crate Box made from Window Sheet.  But I slightly changed the look by  lining the inside of the crate with the white wood page from the Wood Textures DSP.

Having a close look at the tulips, I decided that Berry Burst & Wisteria Wonder would be a good match.

I added a panel across the middle of the planter box to get a fuller set of tulips.

Some sit at the back, some on the back side of the middle strip and some on the front side of the middle strip.

The box is packed with some of the brown paper we get with orders to add more texture.  There’s so many great ways to use the packing paper.

The final touch was to add a Berry Burst bow using the gorgeous new Finely Woven Ribbon.

The second project I’m sharing is a coordinating card to go with my tulip planter box.

I love the Wood Words stamp set – and I know you’re going to get a lot of use from it!

My favourite stamp in the set is the floral splatter.

It makes a great background stamp, which is how I’ve used it in this card!

The tulip posy sits on top of the floral background, with a trio of ribbons – Copper Trim, Berry Burst ribbon & Burlap ribbon.

The Copper Trim is super special – and sure to be a standout in the new catalogue.

It comes in a tight 1/4″ ribbon format – but when the tube is cut apart, it can be teased into a flat netting layer.  So beautiful!

The Hello Friend sentiment is from the Wood Words stamp set.  I do love a bit of copper embossing!!!

And that white wood DSP page – oh my!  I could use a whole pack of that without blinking!

Here’s the card and planter box together…
