Just Add Ink #463 | Choose Two

Hello!  Thanks for stopping today.  You’re joining me for a Just Add Ink challenge card.  The theme is “Choose Two” with foil-ribbon-sequins as our choices.

The design team have lots of great projects to share with you – see them all over at the Just Add Ink blog.  You can also enter the challenge there too.

My project was made especially for a crafty friend.  In fact, it was this friend that first invited me to a Stampin’ Up! workshop which would ignite the papercraft journey!  So, it seemed fitting that her birthday card would be made using the new “Follow Your Art” suite.  Between the stamp set & DSP, it’s filled with artwork of all the things that are important to Stampin’ Up! addicts including markers, buttons, ink refills, twine, hot glue guns, colouring tools – and sequins & ribbon!  So it was also perfect for this challenge.

The style of card is a Tri Fold Pocket Card.  I first made one of these for our May team hop (see the card here).  I’ll post measurements and instructions below again in case you’d like to make one.

The card is shown above when folded & closed.  Here is the front side when opened out…

The middle panel has a removable piece for writing your birthday message on.  I just love the bulldog clip stamp!!!

I’ve used the Sale-A-Bration Grapefruit Grove foil to cut a ‘birthday’ sentiment and added ‘happiness’ under this in glitter embossing.  The glitter embossing powders (in Shimmer White & Shimmer Black) are beautiful and add a fabulous touch of sparkle to your project!

The right panel is the one I created with Just Add Ink in mind and features my favourite stamp from the It Starts With Art stamp set – the stack of ribbons finishing in a ribbon heart!   I’ve added stamped sequins across the DSP and also adhered some sequins from the Woven Threads pack.  These feature the new 2019-2021 In Colors and go well with the colours in the art suite.

The Tri Fold design is very deluxe and when you turn it over, there’s a whole other side to enjoy!

Tri Fold Pocket Card - Follow Your Art | kelly kentThe stamps in the It Starts With Art stamp set are designed to be stamped & coloured – perfect for the avid crafter (or a casual crafter who loves colouring!!).  On this side I’ve added the three colouring tools (Stampin’ Write Marker, Stampin’ Blend & Watercolour Pencil) to the left pocket cover.  I’ll put a gift card in this pocket for the birthday girl.

As well as dies to cut the image stamps in this bundle, the Arts & Crafts die set has extra dies for finishing touches on your projects like the scalloped edge on this pocket (or the button runner on the first side).

The right panel is finished with some cute little ink refill bottles – so classically Stampin’ Up!  In the pocket at the right is a fridge magnet for the recipients craft room reminding her to ‘do something creative every day’.  Craft is such wonderful therapy!  The sentiment for the fridge magnet is from the Crafting Forever stamp set – it coordinates very well with this suite!

Although lots of decorating goes into this style of card, the finished product with all it’s pockets, details and chance to use your new products is so much fun!  Here’s the instructions to make your own:

Start with a piece of cardstock 12″ x 9″.  Along the 12″ side, score at 4″ & 8″.  Along the 9″ side, score at 6″.  Cut along the bottom score lines to create your flaps (see picture).

Once you’ve added your cardstock to each panel, you can adhere the pockets in place.  Panel dimensions are 4″ x 6″, so mat size for each panel is 3-3/4″ x 5-3/4″ (largest size) and 3-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ (smaller size).

I found on this card that just using a larger size DSP layer on the panels with pockets gave a nicer finish.  I added a cardstock mat and DSP on the panels without pockets.

The pockets measure 3″ x 4″.  Make sure to only adhere down the left & right edge, leaving the top edge free of adhesive so you can put things in there.  Ideas include writing panel & fridge magnet as shown, gift card, bookmark, photos, lotto ticket, money – anything less than 4″ x 6″ and flat will fit!

Thanks for joining me.  If you can make the tough decision to only choose two (foil-ribbon-sequins), we’d love for you to share your creation over at our just Just Add Ink blog.  As I write this, I realise that I’ve used all three across the panels of my Tri Fold card… so we’re going to ignore that and just focus on the pretty ribbon & sequins (hehe!) on the right panel!!!

Happy crafting!

Paper Adventures Team Hop | Fancy Folds with Jan B

Paper Adventures - Blog Hop Header

Hello!  Thanks for joining us for another team hop.  It’s awesome to be part of a wonderful group of inspirational crafters.  I know you’re going to love what they share with you for this hop.

We welcome Jan Brown today as our guest designer.  It’s Jan’s first ever blog hop – and we feel so blessed that she agreed to join us.  The team are constantly inspired by Jan’s work and often use her tutorial videos for personal projects and classes.  Jan is so generous with what she shares online – thanks Jan!

So, in honor of Jan’s contribution to the world of papercraft, this theme is all about her!  We are each CASEing one of Jan B’s fancy fold designs.

I have chosen a Tri-Fold design that Jan shared in April.  You can see Jan’s original post here.  I added a couple of extra pockets to the fold, so I’m calling it a Tri-Fold Pocket Card.

This style of card was perfect to show off the new Mosaic Mood DSP from the 2019-2020 Annual Catalogue.  It’s full of amazing designs that you can cut & use or use as full pages.

The DSP in the new catalogue is so fabulous!!  If you’re in Australia a want a sampler of all the designs, I have a couple of places left in my DSP share.  Click here for all the details.

Let me take you on a tri-fold journey.

It starts folded…

And then opens up to reveal 3 panels of beautiful panels…

The left is a Terracotta Tile mat, full piece of DSP, vellum and then carefully snipped roses (from the DSP).  The middle panel is a pocket with a Stitched Rectangle mat in Sahara Sand, a Blushing Bride pocket and cut images from the DSP with a Terracotta Tile sentiment.  The Very Vanilla Stitched Rectangle is for your written message & pulls out of the pocket.  The right panel is another Terracotta Tile mat & full piece of DSP.

I designed this card with extra pockets – one at the front, which left two at the back!  So, it was time to decorate & embellish the reverse side of the card…

With all the pretty pattern & colours of the DSP, I featured yellow & mint as my ‘side B’ theme.

The left panel is pocket style – a So Saffron mat & full piece of DSP with more So Saffron on the pocket and cut images from the DSP (the roses are layered using segments).  The middle panel is a Sahara Sand mat & full piece of DSP.  The right panel is another pocket, with a So Saffron mat, full piece of DSP and more DSP across the pocket.  In the pocket is a bookmark made from cardstock, DSP & cardstock layers with a cut bird from the DSP and stamped sentiment from the Strong & Beautiful stamp set.  I’ve used masking tape to cover up ‘like a diamond’ before I inked it up.

The bookmark can be inserted to sit over the top of the pocket, or completely in the pocket.

This card was so much fun to make!  I’m definitely going to have to make another using a different DSP pattern.  Anything with designs you can cut (like the Mosaic Mood) or a suite with matching stamps/dies will work perfectly.

To make one in your craft room, you’ll need a piece of cardstock 12″ x 9″.  Along the 12″ side, score at 4″ & 8″.  Along the 9″ side, score at 6″.  Cut along the bottom score lines to create your flaps (see picture).

Once you’ve added your cardstock to each panel, you can adhere the pockets in place.

Panel dimensions are 4″ x 6″, so mat size for each panel is 3-3/4″ x 5-3/4″ and DSP size is 3-1/2″ x 5-1/2″.
