Try a Technique – Inked Up Embossing Folders

As you know, there are so many clever techniques out there for making ‘wow’ cards.  I have tried inking embossing folders before, but not for a while, so it was almost like a new ‘wow’ moment for me.

I’ve combined my technique fun with the Just Add Ink inspiration challenge (JAI261).  Don’t you just love the colours in the theme!?!

This is my card:

The Technique: The background is made by inking up the inside of the embossing folder (top or bottom depending on what you want inky and what you want uninked) with a brayer and ink from a classic stamp pad.  I used the Spring Flowers TIEF and the gorgeous *soon-to-be-released* in-colour Tip Top Taupe.  It took me a bit of practice (Alexa is going to love it when she finds the rejects on her craft table!) but I got there eventually.  I found I got the best finish when I put the embossing folder through the big shot sideways (rather than with the fold first, rotate 90 degrees so it goes through long side first).  It’s a bit of a squeeze but it fits!

Although the inspiration photo is all leaves, when I first saw the cushion in the picture I thought it was a tree.  And then I couldn’t shake it – great first impression!  I love all the texture and layers in this card.  And the colours!  The mix of blues, white & taupe is just divine.  Thanks JAI!!!  Kelly x

Tree Builder Punch – be prepared to get more than you bargained for!

I know you’re going to love the tree builder punch, so I don’t have to “sell” it to you … but wait until you see it’s full potential and you won’t be able to resist adding it to your very first order!

Not only does it make the obvious tree that it’s name suggests – like my life cycle of the apple tree screen card…

But you can use the pieces to make such a variety of cards/themes.  Especially when you add in the Sprinkles of Life stamp set…

Pre-order … Excellent… Plus baby bundle punch art!

Today me and hundreds of other demos will be placing their new catalogue pre-order.  Woo hoo!!!  It’s one of the many benefits of being part of the SU! family.

My pre-order list was made a little lighter this year by the wonderful opportunity I had to do a booth demonstration at the South Pacific Stampin’ Up! convention.  In order to make samples for our board, we were spoiled with a box of yet to be released products.  I am delighted to be able to tempt you with cute samples over the next month.

Today’s convention share is actually the last one I made, but by far one of my most favourite, and from the snippets of conversation I caught at convention, it was a winner there too.

With the exception of the baby’s head (made using the 3/4″ circle), the baby bundle punch art is completely made using the tree builder punch.  Put it on your wishlist, the tree builder punch will be available to order on 2nd June {Can’t wait? Join my team & get in on the pre-order}.

How to make your own baby bundle using the tree builder punch:

  • Branch – tree trunk
  • Handle – tree trunk
  • Bow – scallop circle & 2x leaf/teardrop shape
  • Cloth – tree top
  • feet – 2x leaf/teardrop shape

The DSP is also an upcoming product (Cherry on Top Paper stack) and the middle mat uses one of the new in-colours – “Tip Top Taupe”.

Is your wishlist growing?  Contact me to book a workshop so you can get some of your favourite products for free!  Or consider a virtual workshop for you & your friends.

As with all the builder punches, the tree builder punch is so versatile!  My name is Kelly and I’m addicted to Stampin’ Up! punches…. Kelly x

My SU! Secret: What I Did Today…

image

As you know, I’ve been keeping a secret …

It all starts here …

A couple of months ago, Stampin’ Up! home office in the US contacted me to ask if I would be a presenter in a demonstration booth at convention. I was skeptical when I first got the email – what would home office know about ME, a little known demo on the west coast? Well, apparently they do know about me and my love of punch art. And they wanted me to share the passion with my fellow demos at this years convention.

So, the last couple of months have been filled with new products, sneak peaks and late night brainstorms to come up with an hour of demonstrating and a board filled with samples.

What an amazing experience! Without this opportunity, convention would never have been possible for me.

Over the next little while, I’ll share my samples with you. But I’ll start today with the two cards I demo’ed.

The first card focused on the “Tree Builder” punch and “Sprinkles of Life stamp set” which will appear in the new catalogue (starts 2nd June). I used the tree shape to create a template for sponging clouds & grass and then added a stamped & punched tree on top plus a beautiful sentiment.  The DSP is from a new paper stack called “Cherry on Top” and the embossing folder is “Happy Heart” which is carrying over from the Occasions catalogue.

The second demo I did used the “Triple Banner” punch and “Build a Birthday stamp set” which are also coming up in then new catalogue.  It features a layered banner plus some current (annual catalogue & Occasions catalogue) offerings.

Tonight, as you can imagine, I’m exhausted by what has turned out to be an amazing part of my papercraft journey. I’m feeling very blessed. Kelly x
