Social Stamping | out of the box

Hello!  Thank you for joining me & my stamping friends as we hop on week 14 of Social Stamping.  Each week has a theme that somehow applies to the COVID-19 situation and this week it’s about the ‘out of the box’ thinking brought about by the pandemic.

I know I’ve had to be flexible in how I’ve dealt with home, work and stamping since the pandemic hit in March.  There’s been a great deal of ‘out of the box’ thinking that has resulted in trying new things and making new connections.  As we ease back into our new normal (either post COVID or between COVID depending on how things go), some of the out of the box thinking will carry on with us – making their mark on how we do things forever more!

My project for today was very literally inspired by the term ‘out of the box’.  I’ve made a floating frame card where all the fun happens on the outside of the box.

Nailed It Floating Frame Card | kelly kentYou’ll note the appearance of a long retired but in no way forgotten bundle called Nailed It.  Who still owns this?  I love those tools and this seemed like the perfect time to release them from the tool-BOX (pun intended!).

This technique has been around for a while, possibly originally shared by Jennifer McGuire.  See her post here with a video tutorial on how to use Press & Seal to achieve this look.

Although the tools are retired, the rest of the card features current products available in the 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue.  I’ve coloured the tools using Stampin’ Blends – Dark Real Red, Light Cherry Cobbler and Light Smoky Slate.

The frames have been cut using the Stitched Rectangle Dies.  The DSP is In Good Taste, the embossing folder for the Gray Granite card base is Subtle 3D and the Happy B-Day sentiment is from Happiest of Birthdays stamp set.

Thanks for coming along with us today to share in the ‘out of the box’ theme.  Next up is the wonderful Michelle Strazds who has made a fabulous project for her daughter’s birthday.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Happy Father’s Day 2017

It’s Father Day in Australia!

Happy Father’s Day to all the Dads, father figures, Grandads, Dads-to-be, step-Dads & other amazing men around the world!

Have a great day!

This is the card I made for my Dad using my favourite Large Letters Framelits – always a great option for a personalised card.

Turns out a tool card was the perfect option for Grandad Papercraft who helped me out yesterday with installing some new storage for my ever-growing stamping supplies.

I’m so excited to have easy access to all my favourites!

And look at all that space to fill!!!

Do you think Mr Papercraft needs some stamps for Father’s Day this year?

I won’t ask him – I don’t want to ruin the surprise!

Stamp Review Crew – Nailed It

The Stamp Review Crew has the pleasure of sharing the Nailed It stamp set with you today.

If you’re hopping around the world, I know you were dazzled by Charlet’s amazing project.  If you’re starting here, settle in for a great series of “Nailed It” projects.

Click on the next button at the end to visit Artisan Design Team Member and SRC chief – Tanya Boser.  If you get lost at any point – head back to the main Stamp Review Crew blog for a full list of participants.

Unfortunately, this amazing set ended up on the retirement list.  It came with coordinating framelits – which are now completely sold out.

If you’re in Australia, as you read this, there might still be a few wood mount sets available in the online store.  Check here.

Given that there’s the possibility no matter where you are around the world, you might still be able to buy this stamp set, I have used only the stamps in my 2 projects today.

It did require some fussy cutting – but the shapes are easy to cut around!

For my first project, I used the stamps & white heat embossing to create a tool background for a Father’s Day card.

Father’s Day in some parts of the world is coming up soon – so the large  “Happy Father’s Day” hexagon in this set is perfect for the occasion!

Plus the tool theme is an obvious winner for a masculine themed card.

I’ve added in the coordinating washi from this bundle – which is still available on the retirement list!  Along with other great items from the Annual & Occasions catalogue.

Browse my online store.

The second card I am sharing today is based on the inspiration provided by the Global Design Project #084.

Participants in this challenge were encouraged to CASE the designer – Michelle Last.

The tools seemed like a great way to hang a cute little frame!!!

The nails and hammer are fussy cut – a little fussy but an easy way to use this set without framelits.

To perk up the sadness around Nailed It not carrying over, I thought it would be a good time to add in another sneak peek.

Coming up in the new catalogue is a cute stamp set called Crafting Forever.  You’re going to love the craft related sayings like this one…

It basically sums up all activity in our house!!!

Be sure to click on next and see what the gorgeous & talented Tanya Boser has created with the Nailed It stamp set.

If there’s anything on the retirement list that you’re thinking you’d like to own, you’ll want to shop sooner rather than later!

While you’re browsing the retirement list in my online store, check out the clearance rack too for some great specials!

Urban Underground Tools

I love the inspiration that challenges offer.

This week it was the sketch from Create with Connie & Mary that caught my attention when I was designing cards for my Tuesday class.

I love the idea of the three panels!

We used the Nailed It stamp set to create one panel, which once we’d finished stamping, we cut into 3 equal panels.

I love the Urban Underground suite.  Yellow, white & gray is one of my favourite colour trios!!!

And those little embellishments are unreal!

You should try out this sketch, it’s a great starting point for any card!
