Just Add Ink #446 | Photo Inspiration

I can’t wait to see what entries we get this week for Just Add Ink – the photo inspiration is just gorgeous!!!

The colours and textures of this vibrant photo are sure to get the sparks of creativity flying!

The tiles on the wall reminded me of the Tin Tile Embossing Folder that carried over from the Holiday Catalogue.  If you’re ever curious which items from the Holiday Catalogue avoided the retirement list, you can see them all here in my online store.

I designed this card with my February classes in mind.  Each class I try to do one deluxe card – and after some Pinterest research, I came across this gorgeous fold by Barb Stamps (Barb Mullikin) called a Pull Out Side Pocket Card.  You can see Barb’s blog post & video by clicking here.

The card is standard size with a right entry pocket flap for a writing panel.  You could also use the flap for tucking away other things like a gift card or voucher!

Barb is in the US so I slightly adjusted the cardstock sizes to match the C6 size cards we use in Australia.  Card base is 7-3/8″ x 6-7/8″, scored at 4-1/8″ on the long side and 1/2″ from each edge on the short side.

The mat on the front of the card and the cardstock for the pocket insert are both 3″ x 5-5/8″.

Although I love the white wash tiles in the photo, I wanted to try adding Versamark to the embossing folder before I made the imprint on my cardstock and then coating with copper embossing powder for an oxidised copper effect with the teal (Bermuda Bay) peeking through.

The flowers in the vase are from a new stamp set in the Occasions catalogue. They fit the existing Vases Builder Punch – which is a bonus if you already have this!

I’ve stamped the flowers in Lovely Lipstick on Shimmery White and then used an Aqua Painter to add more Lovely Lipstick & Mango Melody ink – just like in the inspiration photo.  The vases are heat embossed in copper and coloured with Bermuda Bay ink.

I can see this style of card being a favourite for when I need something a bit fancier!!!

Stamp Review Crew | Dashing Deer

My design team posts are going to be light at the moment, but I couldn’t resist the theme for Stamp Review Crew this week.

It’s Dashing Deer – which is filled with reindeer and has a beautiful coordinating die set.  I just love reindeer, they are my favourite Christmas motif.

Now of course with Baby Papercraft taking up lots of my time (see here to meet the little man), I’m only getting snippets of time at the craft table.

So I only have one reindeer creation to share with you – and it’s simple.  But that’s ok!!!  Simple can be lovely too!

To make this card I cut a piece of copy paper just bigger than my Whisper White mat and then cut a circle at the top middle.  Remove & discard the circle cut out.

Using the remaining rectangle as a mask, I sponged the circle with Smoky Slate, Rich Razzleberry & Night of Navy inks.  I then stamped the filigree reindeer in Versamark and heat embossed in silver.

The sentiment was stamped with the help of my Stamparatus in Rich Razzleberry.

The Rich Razzleberry card base was embossed using the Tin Tile embossing folder and the reindeer panel mounted on Smoky Slate then adhered to the card base using dimensionals.

Here’s a close up of the reindeer – the detail in this stamp is just beautiful.   I haven’t used it in this card, but it has a coordinating die in the set.

That is my first Christmas card done for the season!  I’m looking forward to making more in this style.

And to seeing what the rest of the Stamp Review Crew has created.  I know there’ll be lots of inspiration in the blogs ahead.

Next up is the wonderful Mickey Roberts

Until next time, happy crafting!

Paper Adventures Team Hop | CAS – Clean & Simple

Paper Adventures - Blog Hop Header

Hello!  Welcome to the September edition of our team blog hop.

I can’t wait for you to see what our Paper Adventures team have created for you this month. You may have joined me from Kim Oliver’s blog – thanks to Kim for being our amazing guest designer this month.  There’s 7 stops today – 5 blogs and 2 Facebook pages.  See below for the full list of participants.

The theme for today’s hop is “CAS” or Clean & Simple.  Of course, everyone has their own definition of what makes a card clean & simple, but I like to think of it as a card that isn’t too fussy.  Clean lines, straight edges, lots of white space and not too many embellishments.

Some people utilise this style really well, but it’s probably not my natural style.  I do love my embellishments!

Every catalogue I buy the stamp set or bundle that everyone is raving about, but isn’t an instant love for me.  I love being enabled by other people’s creativity.  For the 2018 Holiday Catalogue, my enabled purchase was the Country Home stamp set.

This is my CAS creation…

The background is the Tin Tile embossing folder.  Like so many of the embossing folders in the catalogues, they truly come to life when you see them used.

I’ve added the doily as a pop of colour against my white space.

The flowers are coloured with some of the new Stampin’ Blends available in the Holiday Catalogue (Light Real Red, Light & Dark Blackberry Bliss, Light Shaded Spruce, Dark Mint Macaron*) and the cotton flowers have been shimmered using the new (or returning – depending on how long you’ve loved SU! for!) Frost White Shimmer Paint.

*Mint Macaron is a colour shown in the Annual Catalogue.

Thank you for joining us for our Clean & Simple hop. Keep hopping to see what my talented teamie Mandy Depiazzi has created.

What are your weekend plans?  It’s a long weekend here in Western Australia – I’m hoping for good sleep, lots of sunshine and some stamping.

I hope wherever you are in the world, your weekend is full of happiness and amazing weather!!!
