Paper Adventures Team Blog Hop – Red, White & Blue

Paper Adventures - Blog Hop Header

Hello!  I hope you had a wonderful Friday and have a weekend that you can look forward to!

Welcome to another Paper Adventures team blog hop.  We’ve got a great theme for you today!

Siobhan selected a red, white & blue theme since July is filled with theses colours around the world – particularly Independence Day & Bastille Day.

So, for today’s hop, the team are creating with all or some of these red, white & blue Stampin’ Up! colours…

As well as international celebrations, these colours always remind me of a nautical theme!

With the new Message in a Bottle stamp set in my hot little hands, I set out to create a card using the cute little boat stamp.

I added a father’s day sentiment – it’s only July, but Father’s Day always seems to sneak up on me, so I wanted to start early!!!

Paper Adventures Blog Hop | kelly kent

There’s not too many options for Father’s Day at the moment (our Father’s Day is out of sync with the US date which is in June!), but the Thoughtful Banners stamp set has a great range of sentiments including some for Dad!

There’s a fabulous joining deal during July, which means you’ll get an extra $112 of extra gifts when you join my Paper Adventures team during July.

Stamp Review Crew – Thoughtful Banners

Good morning!  It’s my birthday today!  And I’m so excited to spend it celebrating with you!

Today for Stamp Review Crew we’re creating using the Thoughtful Banner stamp set.

It’s full of amazing teeny tiny sentiment words  – perfect for building all kinds of phrases.

I can’t wait to see what the crew comes up with!

Since it’s my birthday, I have created birthday cards!

I’m all about white embossing on coloured cardstock at the moment.

This card was inspired by the colour chart that appears in the new catalogue.  I can’t show you the inside pages of the catalogue online yet, so you’ll just have to trust me that it’s amazing – until you can get your hands on a copy.

The clever designers at Stampin’ Up! have put all 50 colours together so they flow through a rainbow of awesomeness.

I can’t show you the catalogue rainbow, but I can show you mine!  I left out the neutrals (I’ve never seen a Chocolate Chip rainbow!) and split the remaining 40 colours into 2 halves.

The top half…

And the bottom half…

How pretty is that rainbow?

Projects like this celebrate the joy of having an amazing Stampin’ Up! collection where I am lucky enough to own every colour.

Stamp Review Crew - Thoughtful Banners | kelly kent

The ‘happy’ and ‘birthday’ dies are cut from the upcoming “Happy Birthday Thinilt”, which will appear in the 2017-2018 Annual Catalogue, starting 1st June.

Stamp Review Crew - Thoughtful Banners | kelly kent

I cut it out twice and carefully trimmer the connecting segments for each of the words.

Stamp Review Crew - Thoughtful Banners | kelly kent

Each card was finished with Glitter Enamel Dots – another new catalogue sneak peek!  You are going to love them!  Beautiful glitter finish in 4 great colours!

Stamp Review Crew - Thoughtful Banners | kelly kent

There was a little bit of work involved in this project, but thankfully my creativity is not limited by fussy cutting!  Or the need to cut straight!!!

Any guesses what was on my birthday list this year?  I’ll give you a clue… it starts with Stamp and ends with Up!

I like to make the challenge of buying birthday presents easy!

And with new products as amazing as the ones on pre-order, who can blame a girl for buying pretty things???

I hope you have a great day!  Please continue to be inspired by the crew’s amazing creativity by visiting Betty Traciak.

And for more birthday celebrations, visit my blog again tonight for a special birthday blog hop with my Paper Adventures team.

Mother’s Day 2017

Don’t freak out – I’m a day early on the Mother’s Day celebrations!

Nanna Papercraft goes away today so we celebrated last night.

Which means I can share my 2017 Mother’s Day card and gift with you, just in case you’re a deadline runner (like me) and it helps with anything you’re creating this weekend!

Mother’s Day 2017 is all about new catalogue sneak peeks!

Nanna Papercraft’s card is made using the upcoming Wood Textures DSP (absolutely gorgeous), Lovely Words Thinlits, Decorative Ribbon Border Punch, Seasonal Layers Thinlits, Glitter Enamel Dots, Finely Woven Ribbon, Copper Trim and 2 of the new In Colors – Berry Burst & Powder Pink!

That’s a whole lot of new lovelies in my stash!!!  Feeling very lucky right now!

Mother's Day 2017 | kelly kent

It’s such a wonderful perk of being a Stampin’ Up! demo to have all these items to play with before the catalogue release next month!

And of course, there’s always all my favourites that are carrying over, like Thoughtful Banners.

To match her card, I made a decorated paper cube to go on her craft desk.

Mother's Day 2017 | kelly kent

The copper trim is truly amazing!  It’s coiled tightly along, but a little teasing and it forms all kinds of shapes.  You have to see this in person!!!

In an absolute stroke of luck, Kmart are currently selling these paper cube pads with rose gold (copper) edging and pink dot pages, which matched my project perfectly!

Mother's Day 2017 | kelly kent

I do love a fabulously matching project – and if the stationary matches too, well, that just makes my day!!!

Mother's Day 2017 | kelly kent

Happy Mother’s Day to Nanna Papercraft!  Hope the cocktails are cold, the seas calm and the other passengers aren’t too annoying!

Stylish Silver Celebrations

It’s time to celebrate again for our Stampin’ Up! team – Paper Adventures!

Joanne has worked extremely hard at her business over the past 6 months and earned herself a promotion to Silver!!!

I try to recognise and reward my team as much as possible – it’s the fun part of being in a team!

My colour combination was silver (of course) and one of my favourite colours – Sweet Sugarplum with a ‘celebrate you’ theme.

So pretty!!!

A special occasion calls for special effort – so I embellished the inside too!

And of course, a gift with the same theme…

If you think being a part of a Stampin’ Up! team would be fun for you, then we’ve always got our arms open for more Australians! (Sorry everyone else, Stampin’ Up! have strict rules on borders).

Joining our Paper Adventures team is easy & a fabulous deal – especially at the moment!

Joining Stampin’ Up! is just $169.

Until the end of March 2017, this cost gets you a full customisable (ie, you choose everything that goes into it) kit with $235 of products in it, a business supply kit (in case you want this – if you don’t, I’ll have it!) AND {TWO} extra stamp sets (of any value!).

Did I mention free postage on all of that?

*** After 31st March 2017, the starter kit will still be available but the 2 extra stamp sets won’t be included.

Once you’ve joined, the journey is up to you.  You can buy, sell and join in the fun for as long as it suits you & your quarterly minimums are $455 (or more).  Once it stops being fun, you simply stop being an active demonstrator.

If you want more info, please email me.

If you’re excited to join – follow this link to join the fun!

An example of a great value starter kit…

This is just an idea – you can put whatever you like in your kit to the value of $235 & 2 extra stamp sets!

It’s so exciting!!!  If you’re not sure about joining, my advice is to just do it!  And then take it from there!

I’d love to be writing more of these posts and celebrating more amazing people!!!

School Pencil Tin – Stampin’ Style!

It’s back to school day here for Miss Papercraft and I know there won’t be any tears in our house.

And why would there with oodles of new stationary to get acquainted with!?!  She’s a demo in the making!

I went the easy (lazy) route this year for school supplies.

The school ordered the stationary for me, Spencil provided the book covers, pencil case, chair cover & backpack and the ever so lovely Madonna at Bold Badger Designs made me pencil labels.

Effort level – minimum, success level – high!

All that time efficiency did leave me a little extra time to get creative, so decided that rather than send Miss P with a naked pencil tin, I’d jazz it up a bit for her with my stamping supplies.

I’m sure I could have also streamlined the pencil tin too, but the booklist suggested a recycled canned fruit tin – and Miss P was excited about eating a tin of peaches!

So, this is my ‘upcycled’ pencil holder…

It features burlap ribbon & Whisper White baker’s twine around the middle…

And a ‘tag’ for my special Miss, reminding her how amazing she is (not that she lacks any confidence – oh to be 5 again!).

Upcycled School Pencil Tin with Stampin' Up! supplies. Kelly Kent -

The tag is made using the Swirly Scribbles dies, Stitched Framelits, Large Letters and the Bitty Butterfly from the Kinda Eclectic stamp set.

The sentiment comes from the Thoughtful Banners stamp set (‘are’ stolen from ‘carefree’) and ‘you’ from the Endless Thanks stamp set.

And just like that, my big girl is off to year 1!

{with a cool pencil tin!}

Happy shopping!

It’s an ESAD Blog Hop… next week! For now, it’s more pre-order fun!

Did you visit earlier in the week and I promised an ESAD blog hop?  Well, quite a few of us were under the pump over the past week with catalogue launches, illness and generally crazy lives.  So, we’ve decided to put it off til next week.

This forms part of a really great decision I think – because by next week, many of us will have had BBBs (Big Brown Boxes) of Stampin’ Up! arrive on the doorstep and I’m anticipating some great variety of project from the new catalogue.

Not to leave you high and dry,  I still wanted to show you a few projects I’ve been working on with items from my pre-order.  These items are all now available for everyone to order (online or through your demonstrator).

This is a card we made in a class last week using one of my favourite ‘fancy fold’ designs – a Shadow Box card.  We used the Sitting Here stamp set, Playful Palette DSP and new In Colours!

Shadow Box (portrait) using Sitting Here stamp set, Playful Palette DSP & 2016-2018 In Colors. Kelly Kent -

One of the greatest things about this card design is that it stands up when displayed, but folds flat for putting into an envelope.

Shadow Box (portrait) using Sitting Here stamp set, Playful Palette DSP & 2016-2018 In Colors. Kelly Kent -

And then because I hadn’t made one of these in a while and the Sitting Here version reminded me how fun it was, I made another (in the landscape orientation) using some more pre-order favourites.

This little boat is from the Swirly Bird stamp set.  So, as well as stamping out some great swirls & scribbles, you can also use the pieces in the stamp set to make boats, birds, kites and more!

Shadow Box Boat Birthday Card - Swirly Birds stamp set, Thoughtful Banners stamp set & Duet Punch. Kelly Kent -

Shadow Box Boat Birthday Card - Swirly Birds stamp set, Thoughtful Banners stamp set & Duet Punch. Kelly Kent -

Want to make your own shadow box?  It’s really quite simple.

  1. Cut an A4 piece of cardstock in half.
  2. Keep one half (put the other aside for another project) and cut that in half again.
  3. Score 1/2″ & 1″ from each side (long side for a portrait card and short side for a landscape card).
  4. Card front: Fold the 1″ score line under and then back on itself again along the 1/2″ score line.  Cut a shape of choice between the inside score lines using a framelit & your Big Shot.
  5. Card back: Fold the 1″ score line on top and then back on itself again along the 1/2″ score line.
  6. Put adhesive on the back of the card front along the panel made between the 1/2″ & 1″ score lines and attach to the same panel on the card back.

Like to see instructional videos?  I like this one by Dawn.

Stamp, embellish & decorate your shadow box however you choose. You’re best to decorate the back panel prior to the adhesive step (#6) and depending on how you decorate your back panel, sometimes it’s best to stamp before you score (step 3).

Thanks for joining just me today.  I promise a hop filled with fabulous inspiration next week – so visit back then!!!  And tomorrow you can look forward to another Stamp Review Crew hop.  Lots of fun to be had over the coming months as everyone’s creativity bursts with new catalogue love!
