Text Ya Later!

There’s a cool new stamp set from Stampin’ Up! that I know lots of crafters will love!

It’s called Text Ya Later and it comes with 59 photopolymer stamps that give you all the builder pieces you need to make text conversations.

It’s a little sassy and a lot of fun – and I can see this being a hit with teenagers, plus pretty much anyone who owns a mobile phone!

I used it to send welcome cards to the ladies who have signed up for my Stamp Club.

The DSP is from the Color Theory DSP and each colour inspired the overall colour theme for each card.

Here’s a close up of the Berry Burst card…

They said ‘yes’ (thumbs up) and I said ‘thx! you’re the best, so excited for you, *high five*’.

I had so much fun putting it altogether.

The spiral punch across the stop of the DSP is a sneaky retired punch that I loved for the mixed of new technology & old technology, and I carried that theme through with the pen from the Crafting Together stamp set.

And since I had that stamp set out, I thought the ‘do something creative every day’ was the perfect inside sentiment for a group of crafting fanatics!

If you’d like more information about joining a Stamp Club, please email me.

The short version is – a group of 5 Australian crafters sign up to a virtual club (there’s no meetings, it’s all conducted online – so you can live anywhere in Oz!).  It runs for 5 consecutive months with a minimum spend from each participant of $50 per month.  You take turns to receive the hostess rewards.  It’s a fabulous way to slowly but surely add those things from your wishlist.

You might like to use your hostess rewards to buy the coordinating set for Text Ya Later.  It’s a host exclusive called You’re Delightful.

Sound like fun?  Let me know you’re interested by emailing me or contacting me on Facebook.

*** Stamp Clubs can only go ahead with 5 committed members.

If your wishlist is much more substantial than a $50 spend, then join me & my Paper Adventures team by becoming a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator.

There’s a fabulous joining special in July that you really can’t go past!  Click here for all the info!

Hello Instagram!

People tell me that it’s all about Instagram these days!

So, I’ve finally reactivated my Instagram account.

I’ve also had fun tonight making a new teen birthday card with an Instagram theme.  My old one was way out of date!!!

Instagram Watercolour Birthday Card | Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

The happy birthday font in the Brirthday Bright stamp set is pretty close to the Instagram font!

How convenient – I love a good font!!!

I made the logo using our beautiful (quality) watercolour paper, an Aqua Painter and our fabulous inks.

The layering circle & square framelit dies made the design easy to put together.

It took me a while to get on board with Instagram, but I got there in the end!!!

I’d love for you to follow me on Instagram – what a visual delight of amazing photos from around the world!

Leave me a comment & tell me who you love to follow on Instagram!

Just Add Ink #334 – Inspiration

This week at Just Add Ink, it’s a photo inspiration challenge – and boy it’s a good one!

Selected by Di, we are creating projects that are inspired by this photo….

Just Add Ink #334 Photo Inspiration

There are so many places you can go with this photo!

For me, it was the woodgrain table and the red, white, black & blue colours that stuck out.

Add some banner elements – plus the numbers – and I was able to create a great card for a soon-to-be sixteen year old I know.

I even decorated the inside of the card (whoa tiger!) so I could work in the pennant from Sweet Stack – it was just right for the project!

Boy cards are hard – right???  These colours & elements from the photo work well – I encourage you to have a play with them and add your own card to the challenge.

Just Add Ink #333 – Just Add “G”

Just Add Ink Design Team

It’s challenge time at Just Add Ink and this week the design team are sharing projects inspired by the letter “G”…

It might the colour, theme, shape or embellishment – it just has to incorporate “G”.

To see what the design team has created – visit the Just Add Ink blog here.

You can also add your own entry – we’d really like you to play along!!!

For my project this week, I wanted to try out a card that emulates a graffiti style.

I admire legal & well completed graffiti – it can be a great work of art!

Just Add Ink #333 - Just Add "G". Watercolour Graffiti Wall. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

I created my graffiti wall by first watercolouring a piece of Watercolor Paper in a random pattern using Crushed Curry, Dapper Denim, Island Indigo & Cherry Cobbler inks.

Because I’m impatient, I dried it off with my heat tool on the lowest setting.  Watercoloring always looks much better when it’s dry!

I then ran it through my Big Shot in the Brick Wall embossing folder.

With the “G” theme today, I couldn’t resist using gold glimmer paper for my graffiti writing, which I created using my Silhouette Cameo & the WHOA! font (you can download this here).

Thanks for stopping by today!

Be sure to check out the rest of the design team creations & enter your own “G” project!

Half Spinner Card – Soccer theme

I made this card for a soccer-loving teenager.

You are never too old for cards that spin!

Soccer Spinner Card for teenager with tutorial for half spinner. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

I didn’t want the whole circle that the framelit in the Sliding Star Framelits gives, so I just cut to the half way point.

And I thought it would be a good mini-tutorial to share with you.

This works for any framelit where you only want to cut part of it.

Soccer Spinner Card for teenager with tutorial for half spinner. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

The simple science is that you put the edge of the top plate at the point that you want it to stop cutting.  And then roll through as usual.

Tutorial for cutting a half spinner. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

The Big Shot cuts what is under the 2 plates and leaves the other part of the framelit uncut.

To finish it off, I snipped the edge of the semi-circle it created and made my spinner card as usual (with a soccer ball from the Silhouette Design store).

Too easy!  You can now add another spinner ‘shape’ to your reportoire.

This tutorial also work for other shapes such as circles, butterflies & labels to create partial cuts on your cards & projects.

A Social Network Birthday – Instagram

I have been asked to make some cards that would be suitable for teenagers.  Handmade cards for kids and adult feamles are easy.  Teenagers and males take a bit more thought!

I’m a social network fan – particularly Facebook – but I’m not an Instagram user.  From what I understand, it’s a photo sharing site and you can ‘follow’ people and friends and see their photos – one giant world-wide photo album!

I just love this “Instgram” card with it’s bright rainbow, Itty Bitty Accents and corner rounding.  Hopefully the teenager that ends up receiving this Instagram birthday card loves it too!  Perhaps it will end up on their Instagram???  Now wouldn’t that be interesting!  Kelly x
