Hello! I can’t wait to see the entries we get for this week’s Just Add Ink challenge! We’re adding “T” – anything that starts with the letter t or is about the letter T. It feels like an episode of Sesame Street!
Just recently, I saw a project shared by Amanda Mertz where she used the Stitched Triangles Dies to create Santa – so incredibly cool and so creative! You can see Amanda’s original card by clicking here.
This challenge gave me the perfect opportunity to CASE Amanda’s Santa design – Just Add Triangles!!!
I’ve used a Thick Whisper White cardstock base and cut 1-1/2″ from the bottom front and then cut another 2-13/16″ (this becomes the middle layer). You’ll now have a piece of Whisper White left (4-1/8″ x 7-3/8″) – score this 5-7/8″ to create the card back and top flap. The top flap & bottom segments measure 4-1/8″ x 1-1/2″) . This style of card is called a Peekaboo Card.
I made my version of the Santa using:
Hat: 1 x Real Read Isosceles Triangle #3
Hat Trim: 1 x Whisper White Isosceles Triangle #4
Face: 1 x Petal Pink Equilateral Triangle #3
Eyes: 2 x Basic Black smallest circle on (retired) Cookie Cutter Builder Punch
Nose: 1 x Petal Pink larger circle on (retired) Cookie Cutter Builder Punch
Moustache: 2 x Whisper White Isosceles Triangle #1
Beard: 1 x Whisper White Equilateral Triangle #3
Jacket: 2 x Real Red Equilateral Triangle #3
Pom Pom: white (retired) Assorted Pompoms
Here’s a reference for the sizing of the Stitched Triangle Dies:
The rest of the card has Garden Green cardstock for the background mats. The centrepiece is 3-1/16″ x 4-3/8″ and the top and bottom panels are 4″ x 1-3/8″. The DSP is from Heartwarming Hugs cut at 3-7/8″ x 1-1/4″. The embossing folder used on the Whisper White panel is from the Wrapped in Texture Embossing Folders (pack of 2 thin folders).
How cute is that sentiment? It’s from the Warm Hugs stamp set – new in the Aug-Dec 2020 Mini Catalogue. I’ve cut it using the Tailored Tag Punch – which is typically wider, but by marking even points on both sides of the reverse of the punch, you can create a fun conventional hexagon shape. I’ve marked at 1.5″ wide and used the method shared by Stampin’ Up! in this video. The ribbon is from the Ornate Garden Ribbon Combo Pack.
I mentioned before this this card is a Peekboo style. Here’s what it looks like when it stands up.
Thanks for joining me for this week’s Just Add Ink challenge. If you are inspired to “Just Add T”, please stop by our blog to share your project in our gallery.
Have a great weekend!
