Just Add Ink #451 | Inspiration

Hello!  It’s been a quiet week on the blog, so I’m excited to have snuck in some craft time to be able to share a Just Add Ink card with you.

It’s a photo inspiration challenge – chosen by Jo..   Does that photo make you want to drop everything and spend the morning (or day) sipping on tea at the cafe???

I pulled together elements from the card to make a peekaboo style birthday card.

It’s plain on the front – inspired by the Mint Macaron wooden windows and chalkboard menu…

And then opens up…

…. to reveal the birthday message!

I used magnets to help with a good close when flat.

The shimmery sentiment was achieved by using several inkings & the Stamparatus.  I first stamped the whole stamp in Blushing Bride.  Then I added Flirty Flamingo across the middle of the stamp with a sponge dauber and then Lovely Lipstick across the bottom before restamping on top of the Blushing Bride image.  And finally, I added Frost White Shimmer Paint directly to the stamp with a sponge dauber before stamping a third time.

This card was so much fun to make!  I’m not sure I’ve made anything previously with the Barn Door bundle, but it was perfect for my vision for the photo inspiration.

We’d love for you to join us over at the Just Add Ink blog.  Check out what the other design team members have made and add your own crafty project to the link up to enter the challenge.

See you for the next challenge!

Colour INKspiration #42

Sneaking in time at the craft table has been a little challenging when trying to fit in with a newborn schedule!

I made it work though so I could play along with the gorgeous colours for Colour INKspiration this week.

Image may contain: indoor

With copper shimmer paint already on the table, and a tight time schedule, I chose to build upon the theme I used for Gayle’s bronze elite congratulations card.  You can see that card by clicking here.

Here is my challenge card….

Happy Birthday | kelly kent

I kept the Subtle embossing folder background and leaf edging and added in a Basic Black (sprayed with copper shimmer paint) happy birthday sentiment.  The leaves I used as an embellishment were cut using a new punch available in the Holiday Catalogue (Sprig Punch) – you can never have too many options for decorative leaves!

If you have crafty time this weekend, add your own copper, mint, white & black creation to the Colour INKspiration challenge page.  Entries close on Monday 8th October.

When I’m time poor, I find the best way to create ‘in bulk’ is to make the same design in a few different colours.  This was also a great way to try out more of the shimmer paints.

Celebrating with Shimmer Paint + Clear Case Insert

I {LOVE} new products – especially accessories!

They breathe new life into all the products you already have.

One of the new ranges I was most excited about in the Holiday Catalogue was Shimmer Paints.  For some long term Stampin’ Up! addicts, these are a ‘returning’ product as some colours were previously available in the range.  For me, they are a totally new toy to play with.

There’s 4 colours – Bright Copper, Champagne Mist, Frost White & Vegas Gold.

You can start with one, or add all four!

I went into shimmer overload for this card to celebrate one of my Paper Adventures teamies promoting to Bronze Elite.  She now gets a bigger discount on all her Stampin’ Up! spending!  Congratulations Gayle!

This card features the Bright Copper Shimmer Paint.

It’s nearly impossible to get photos that do any shimmer product justice!  I tried – but this card is best seen in person!

Shimmer Paint | kelly kent

There’s three different ways I’ve used the shimmer paint on this card

  • applied to cardstock with a sponge dauber (“YOU” die cut)
  • misted to the card base using alcohol (Isocol) and shimmer paint in a Stampin’ Spritzer
  • Applied directly to the stamp and used as an ink

Shimmer Paint | kelly kent

Each colour of shimmer paint will give a different effect.  You can mix the shimmer paint with ink refills to create a coloured shimmer.  Or swirl 2 shimmer paints together for a frosted marble look.  The possibilities are endless!

When you order your shimmer paints (click here to visit the online store), make sure you have sponge daubers and spritzers in your collection – or make sure to add these products to your order as well.  They make using shimmer paints so easy!!!  Isocol is available from the medicinal section of Coles, Woolworths or your local supermarket.  Look for the bright green bottle.

As usual, the Stampin’ Up! Clear Cases make the perfect storage solution. All 4 shimmer paints (and their sponge dauber partners) fit into a half stamp case.  Click here to see this product in the online store.

Stamp Review Crew | Varied Vases

Hello!  Thanks for joining us for the second Stamp Review Crew hop of August.  This group of talented demonstrators hops on the first and third Monday of each month (and squeeze a bonus hop in if there’s five Mondays in a month!).

Today the design team are creating fabulous projects using the Varied Vases stamp set and coordinating Vases Builder punch.

This stamp set & punch were designed by Mary Fish as part of her million dollar sales journey.  You can read more about it on Mary’s blog.

This stamp set and punch are just the sweetest and make the most adorable cards!!!

I’ve combined Mint Macaron and Wood Textures DSP to create this card to share with you.

Stamp Review Crew - Varied Vases | kelly kent

I’m so excited to have these doilies back in the catalogue!  They come in a pack with one side coloured with Coastal Cabana, Flirty Flamingo, Grapefruit Grove or Old Olive – and the other side is white.  I’ve used the white side for this card.  They are such a pretty doily design!!!  Page 192 of your catalogue if you’ve missed their return and want to have a look!

Don’t they make a stunning background for the gorgeous simplicity of the vase & flower!

Stamp Review Crew - Varied Vases | kelly kent

This stamp set gives you 34 pieces of vaes, flowers and sentiments – perfect for creating a range of different designs.  I love that it includes a birthday sentiment (pretty font!) and two step flower options so you don’t have to colour.

I’m sharing a second card today that doesn’t use the Varied Vases stamp set, but does use the Vases Builder Punch.  One of my long-term papercraft loves is punch art and finding fun ways to use punch shapes.  Builder punches often lend themselves to some creative designs.

By turning Mary Fish’s signature tulip upside down, I’ve made a fun Pac-Man card!

Vases Builder Punch - Pac-Man | kelly kent

A bit of a blast from the past – perfect for all those older generation birthdays!

Vases Builder Punch - Pac-Man | kelly kent

Pac-Man is a 1/2″ circle and the little dots are from the Elephant Builder Punch (with hand drawn black dots).

The Varied Vases font wasn’t quite right for this retro card, so I’ve pulled out the happy birthday from Lemon Zest.  Stamp Review Crew showcased Lemon Zest last month – did you see it?  Visit my blog post here.

To see more Varied Vases creations, keep hopping with Nikki Spencer.  I love her style and can’t wait to see what she’s created!

Thanks for joining us!

Colour INKspiration #36

It’s time for another awesome Colour INKspiration challenge.  We had some great entries for CI#35 with the Neutrals Collections.  You can find all the action on our Facebook page.

We’d love to see you join in challenge #36 which is this stunning colour palette of Crushed Curry, Soft Suede, Basic Gray & Silver.

You can also add any Basic – Whisper White, Very Vanilla & Basic Black and any metallic.

Image may contain: 1 person

Yellow, gray, black & white together is one of my all-time favourite colour combinations.  The addition of a brown tone certainly made it interesting!!!

I played up the yellow & gray tones and added just a touch of Soft Suede.

Colour INKspiration #36 | kelly kent

Both of these cards using the same techniques & layout – I’ve just switched the colours, orientation & centrepiece to get two unique designs with minimal extra design effort.

Colour INKspiration #36 | kelly kent

This card features the butterfly from Springtime Impressions Thinlits, Tea Room & Nature’s Poem DSP and a wreath made from one of the little stamps in the Love What You Do stamp set.

Colour INKspiration #36 | kelly kent

I have left both cards without a sentiment for two reasons – one, it didn’t really fit the design and second is because I love sentiment-free cards!

I’ve used the Subtle Embossing Folder for both card bases – it just lifts a blank space without being overpowering.  Everyone needs to order this embossing folder!!

Colour INKspiration #36 | kelly kent

I love having DSP stacks back in the catalogue.  They are perfect for colour challenges because you always have the colour you need!!!  And the patterns this year are awesome – plain stripes and dots plus creative stripes & dots.

Colour INKspiration #36 | kelly kent

The centrepiece of each card features a perfect wreath.  I’d seen these shared on others projects, but had the chance to try out this technique recently when it was part of a class run by Mandy Depiazzi.

It uses a template and your stamparatus.  I’m not sure who came up with this idea first, but this youtube tutorial by Barb Stamps is a great explanation on how to make your template & create your wreath.

This is a close-up of the Crushed Curry wreath.  I’ve just stamped in all 8 positions using a 2-3/4″ square of Whisper White cardstock.

Thanks for joining me today. Can’t wait to see your creation on our Facebook page.

Paper Adventures Team Blog Hop | Colour Revamp

Paper Adventures - Blog Hop Header

Thanks for joining us for the monthly Paper Adventures blog hop.

Tonight’s theme is the Color Revamp.  As part of the new catalogue, Stampin’ Up! did a complete shake up of the colour range.  We saw favourite colours retired, retired favourites return and got new colours to love.  You can read more about the details here – click here.

There’s 53 colours in the range – 10 In Colors, 10 Neutrals, 10 Brights, 10 Subtles, 10 Regals & 3 Basics

2018 In Color Collections | kelly kent

2018 Color Collections | kelly kent

Although I love the variety within and between each of the colour collections, my long-time favourite collection has been Brights.

I think the revamp has given it a fun shake up.  4 colours remain in the collection, 4 colours moved to the Regals collection 2 colours retired and we saw 6 new colours join the Brights family.

3 of these were returning In Colors (Poppy Parade, Flirty Flamingo, Coastal Cabana) and 3 are new (Mango Melody, Granny Apple Green, Gorgeous Grape).

I have two projects to share with you tonight.

The first uses all 10 colours in the rainbow order they appear in the catalogue.  Previously Stampin’ Up! has used alphabetical order to arrange the colours.  The Color Revamp brings us a beautiful rainbow effect for each collection!

I’ve paired the colours from the Brights Collection with an elephant silhouette.  This oh-so-cute punch & coordinating Little Elephant stamp set is a new addition to my collection from the 2018-2019 Annual Catalogue.

Color Revamp: Brights Collection | kelly kent

How beautiful is that rainbow???

Color Revamp: Brights Collection | kelly kent

Do you have a favourite colour???  It’s hard to choose, and probably depends on my mood.  At this moment in time, my favourite new colour is Granny Apple Green, my favourite returning colour is Coastal Cabana and my favourite carry over colour is Bermuda Bay!!!

The second project I am sharing today is a set of thank you cards I made to send out with my DSP & Ribbon Product Shares this week.  Curious about how to get all the paper & ribbon without spending $$$???  Click here to see the post on my 2018-2019 Annual Catalogue Product Shares.

Inspired by the pretty colours of the Brights collection, and other new things I was itching to play with, I created this set of cards using the 6 ‘new/returning’ Brights.

When making cards to go with orders, I like to show them what products they might have admired in the catalogue actually look like.

This card features the stars pattern from the Bokeh Dots stamp set, the dreamcatcher from the Follow Your Dreams stamp set and the thank you stamp from Love What You Do stamp set.

The panel on the left is embossed with the Subtle Embossing Folder.  It’s a little tricky to see what it looks like in the catalogue, so I wanted to share how beautiful it looks in person.

Color Revamp: Brights Collection | kelly kent

These cards were so easy to make using my Stamparatus.  I was able to set the position and ink each layer several times to get some great depth of colour – and ensure an even inking.on the background stamp.

There’s so many amazing new products a part of the 2018-2019 Annual Catalogue.  I look forward to sharing more with you over the coming months.  Click here to browse the online store.

Next up on the hop is our guest designer – Sara Levin.  Thanks to Sara for joining us.  You’re going to love what she’s made!!!
