Let me share the colours for challenge #19 with you – they are divine!!!

Image may contain: outdoor

Yellow, gray & white is one of my all-time favourite colour combinations.

I admit, I don’t love the green in there (for the project I wanted to make) but the design team have used it as a wonderful contrast.

October happens to be an anniversary month for friends of mine.

And, by happy coincidence, their wedding colours were yellow & gray!

How amazing was the beautiful yellow bridesmaid dress I got to wear – total princess moment!

kelly kent | mypapercraftjourney

So, I’ve used this challenge to make a sweet anniversary card…

Colour INKspiration #19 | kelly kent

As a striking background, I’ve used the silver snowflakes in a repeated pattern.

Colour INKspiration #19 | kelly kent

The anniversary sentiment is courtesy of the Number of Years stamp set.

‘Anniversary’ was too long for the Classic Label punch, so I had to improvise using a pencil & template!  It’s always fun to be creative with our cardmaking pieces!

Colour INKspiration #19 | kelly kent

As for Garden Green – I snuck it in for the ‘th’!

I would have been totally happy to leave it out – but the challenge rules made me hide it there!

This wasn’t the only anniversary card I needed to make for October.  It seems October is a popular month for weddings amongst my friends!

Another set of friends are celebrating one sweet year together.

This is their card….

1st Wedding Anniversary | kelly kent

I made it to match the colours & styling of their wedding card.

1st Wedding Anniversary | kelly kent

The anniversary sentiment for this card came from the Milestone Moments stamp set.  I love that font!!

1st Wedding Anniversary | kelly kent

Do you send anniversary cards to the couples whose weddings you’ve attended?

I’ve tried hard over the years, but since my record keeping system is scattered (and that’s a kind description!), they often sneak up on me!!!

A card in the mail is always wonderful, especially when it’s not expected.

#makeacardsendacard

That is all I have to share with you today!

Please continue the hop to see the fabulous project my gorgeous friend Lou Kitzelman has made using these colours…

Don’t forget, you can join in the challenge fun over on the Colour INKspiration Facebook group.

Thanks for hopping with us!

Hello Ladybug | FMS#307

I was shopping during the week and saw a super cute singlet that reminded me of a gorgeous friend of mine.

And of course, a super cute spontaneous present needs a matching handmade card.

It’s been a while since I’ve made anything using punch art – so this was fun!

Hello Lady Bug | kelly kent

The overall card design was inspired by the current Freshly Made Sketch.

It should have finished last week – but a technical glitch means they’ve kept it open – lucky for me!

Red, white & black is always a great colour combination.

I added in a touch of silver to brighten it up.

Hello Lady Bug | kelly kent

The bugs are made using the 3/4″ circle punch, shapes from the Cookie Cutter Builder Punch & the small leaf shape from the Eclectic Layers Thinlits.

Make your own ladybug:

Antenna – small leaf with all but top circle cut away from the stem

Head – largest circle from Cookie Cutter

Body (top) – 3/4″ circle cut in half & separated slightly

Body (bottom) – 3/4″ circle trimmed at top edge so it’s not visible

Dots – smallest circle from Cookie Cutter

Here’s another little bug hanging out on the inside…

Hello Lady Bug | kelly kent

And here’s a picture of the card with the inspirational gift…

Hello Lady Bug | kelly kent

In a week filled with some bad news stories & terrible world events, let’s flood our personal spheres with kindness!

Send a pretty card, help someone out & smile often.  Bring out your best!!!

Stamp Review Crew – Seaside Shore

Hello Monday!  And welcome to a Stamp Review Crew hop featuring the Seaside Shore stamp set.

The Stamp Review Crew are an international group of demonstrators that share projects on the first and third Monday of each month – all inspired by the same stamp set.

I love the range of talent in this group!  If you’ve already been hopping, did you love the wonderful creations by Australian designer Juana Ambida – such creativity!!!

If you’ve just started here, keep hopping for more great ideas.  Next stop is the lovely Linda Callahan in the USA.  Click on the next button at the end of my blog post to be transported across the globe to visit Linda’s blog.

I’m so excited to see the potential of this set unfold during this hop.

I love all the little fish & marine details of this stamp set and wanted to use them in my first card to create an underwater scene.

Going with this idea, I created a z-fold card, with the z-fold piece across the top of the card to mimic a jetty.

The Wood Textures DSP came in very handy for this card!  Each jetty piece is 3/4″ wide.

Stamp Review Crew - Seaside Shore | kelly kent

The ‘sand’ was made using embossing paste (very roughly applied) and dusted with gold glitter and left left to dry.

Stamp Review Crew - Seaside Shore | kelly kent

Z-fold cards fold flat and post in a normal size envelope – which I love!!

For my Stamp Review Crew projects, I always like to try to make another project to show the stamp set in a different way.

The book I’m reading at the moment (a birthday present from a wonderful friend) has this saying throughout the book as a central theme.

It’s one I love – and also makes a good theme for a card!

Stamp Review Crew - Seaside Shore | kelly kent

I’ve stamped the same fish 6 times – 5 in black, and then the red one as a focus point.

Using masking tape, I altered the sentiment in the stamp set to just read ‘swimming’ and added ‘just keep’ using the Labeler Alphabet stamp set.

Because the front is fairly simple, I wanted to stamp the middle too.  I love that Stampin’ Up! offers so many opportunities for coordination in their range (on purpose or by happy accident) and thought that the ‘just breathe’ sentiment from the Colorful Seasons stamp set was the perfect addition to this theme.

Stamp Review Crew - Seaside Shore | kelly kent

As an aside, which black ink is your favourite – Memento or Archival??

I almost always use Archival because I love the rich black colour.  But here’s a tip…

Have you noticed that it’s sometimes difficult to get a good solid image with the archival ink?

If you ink it up well, stamp on scrap and then ink again, the second time you stamp will be a rich & solid image.

I’ve found this tip is especially important when using photopolymer stamps.

Black Archival ink {WILL} stain your photopolymer stamps – but that’s ok!  It’s all part of the fun of being an awesome stamper!!!

I hope you enjoyed my projects today.  Feel free to leave a comment – I read each and every one and love hearing from you!

To see more great ideas, please hop through to Linda Callahan

Hope your week has started fabulously!!!

Waving to you from wintery Australia!!!

Colour INKspiration #13

Hello! And welcome to Colour INKspiration #13!

Do you love or hate the number 13?  I’m a fan!!!!

The first challenge for July features a gorgeous quartet of bright & fun colours – Sweet Sugarplum, Wild Wasabi, Lemon Lime Twist & Fresh Fig.

Image may contain: plant, flower and nature

You may like to take inspiration from the photo as well, but you can go wherever these challenge colours take you.

Don’t forget that you can add in any neutrals or metallics to the palette too – which opens up some great variety.

I’ve added silver/gray to mine to create yet another creation using the “Little One” stamp set.  I just love that teepee!!!

Colour INKspiration #13 | kelly kent

This concept came from the idea of a cute baby blanket covered in teepees.  The colours from this challenge were perfect for a bright & fun look.

I double embossed the cardstock with the Ruffled folder (embossed once, rotated and then embossed again) after it was stamped & coloured, to give it a ‘blanket look’.

Colour INKspiration #13 | kelly kent

Watercoloring the teepees softened the colours to ‘baby tone’.

A bit of sequin & glitter dot bling finished the sentiment panel…

Colour INKspiration #13 | kelly kent

Do you like the ‘get your swaddle on’ sentiment?

I think it’s a bit of a divider – I’m still sitting on the fence.  Might be a ‘for the right Mum/baby’ type saying.

The hop showcasing these gorgeous colours continues on now to the wonderful Monique Fielder

You can join in too by uploading your creation using the challenge colours (and any neutrals and/or metallics) over on our Colour INKspiration Challenges Facebook page.

If you don’t have Facebook, email me your creation and I’ll share it for you!.

I hope you have a wonderful end to your week!

If you’re still on school holidays like me, I’m hoping for fine weather, lazy mornings and children who don’t whine!

I don’t ask for much, do I???

Welcome Baby – Not So Wild!

One of the cutest new stamp sets from the new catalogue is “A Little Wild”.

It’s only a little wild because really it’s just super cute!

The stamps have a front & a back of each animal – and matching dies to make them into tags!

I can see all kinds of uses for this bundle, but this week I just used the cute little elephant to create a personalised baby card.

I gave my lightbox another go to take these photos only to decide that I’ve been totally spoilt by natural light in the past few months!

So, I think it’ll be back to my wood table & brick wall for the rest of this week!

A Little Wild | kelly kent

The elephant is my favourite stamp from this set – so perfect for new little people!

She’s a little shy looking with closed eyes, but with a Stampin’ Write Marker, I was able to open her up with bright eyes!

A Little Wild | kelly kent

I used one of the cute sentiments in the stamp set to add some prettiness to the inside too!  And another elephant – and some of the gorgeous new washi tape!

A Little Wild | kelly kent

So many pretties!

I love gray as a coordinating colour!  Gray & pink, and gray and yellow are two of my favourite baby combinations!

I’ve got more ‘wild’ projects to share with you later in the week – sparked by an idea I saw on Pinterest!

How many hours a day do you spend on Pinterest compared to actually creating?  I think if you can strike an even balance, you’re doing well!

Just Add Ink #363 – Anniversary

As it turns out, the Just Add Ink Anniversary challenge was perfectly timed for me!

Image may contain: text

Not quite as perfect as Chloe, who celebrates her wedding anniversary today, but well timed to create some “stampin’versary”cards for some of my stamping friends who also celebrated Stampin’ Up! anniversaries during May.

It’s all part of Sara Douglass’ #MakeACardSendACard challenge.  I am absolutely loving sending out lots of happy mail.

Just Add Ink #363 Anniversary | kelly kent

Because of my ongoing battle with a set number of hours in the day (just 24 – to do EVERYTHING!), these cards got in the mail a little later than I wanted, so they will probably hit the east coast after this goes live.  But that’s ok!

I took this opportunity to have a play around with colour combinations for the new In Colors.  Until this point, I’d used coordinating colours – Pool Party & Tranquil Tide, Berry Burst & Sweet Sugarplum…. you get the idea!

The creative crew over at Stampin’ Up! HQ have put together a fabulous list of colours that work well together for each of the 5 new In Colors.

TH_2017InColorCombinations_SPUK

*** click image to download / enlarge

It’s a great way to expand your natural colour boundaries!

So, these are the 5 cards & colour combinations I chose…

Just Add Ink #363 Anniversary | kelly kent

And up close and personal…

Fresh Fig with Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight & Pear Pizzazz

Just Add Ink #363 Anniversary | kelly kent

Powder Pink with Night of Navy, Soft Sky & So Saffron

Just Add Ink #363 Anniversary | kelly kent

Lemon Lime Twist with Island Indigo & Melon Mambo

Just Add Ink #363 Anniversary | kelly kent

Tranquil Tide with So Saffron, Peekaboo Peach & Sweet Sugarplum

Just Add Ink #363 Anniversary | kelly kent

Berry Burst with Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry & Pumpkin Pie

Just Add Ink #363 Anniversary | kelly kent

The insides were decorated in the same way, with the peekaboo ‘happy anniversary’ panel from the front and a Rose Garden vellum die cut across the base.

I haven’t taken a picture of all of the colours – this gives you a looksie at the design…

Just Add Ink #363 Anniversary | kelly kent

I have been working hard on my card insides this year – and also the envelopes!  It’s rude to send a naked envelope… apparently!

Luckily, the floral stamp from the Floral Phrases stamp set matches the Fresh Florals DSP that I used on the card front.

Just Add Ink #363 Anniversary | kelly kent

And then they were finished and in the mail to 5 stamping friends!

Happy mail is on it’s way!

If you’re ever in need of someone to send happy mail to, pick me!  Checking the letterbox is one of my favourite daily activities and I always get so excited when the contents are pretty!

Speaking of pretty, an anniversary theme lends itself to some pretty amazing cards.

Head over the Just Add Ink blog to see what the design team created this week, and add your anniversary card to the mix!

Stamping with Friends – Celebrating 5 years! Part One

A very big hello!!!

And welcome to a special blog hop that started as a little idea that delightfully spun into a wonderful weave of stamping friends.

This time 5 years ago my Stampin’ Up! demonstrator (now upline, Maxine Norrish) contacted me to see if I had thought about joining Stampin’ Up!

I hadn’t, but given my spending patterns & growing stash in the 12 months before that, it seemed like a great next step.  And they were offering free DSP…. show me the forms!!!

Which brings me to May 2017 – and I’m celebrating 5 years with Stampin’ Up!, a heap of wonderful memories, a great team and {lots} of wonderful stamping friends!

So, when I asked if anyone wanted to join me, thinking I’d maybe have a nice little hop of 10 or so, I was left speechless (which takes a lot!) by the amazing demos that put their hand up to join me.

So many so, that this blog hop runs over 2 nights!!!  With lots & lots of talent with each ‘next’ click.

There weren’t too many rules or regulations for tonight’s hop – I wanted it to be a celebration and a party.

But we do have a loose theme of ‘happy’.

When I think about what makes me happy, there’s 2 main things – my family & my friends.

Because it’s my stamping friends that have made this hop possible tonight, I’ll start with friends!

We’re so close to the new catalogue and being able to order new things… like the Lovely Inside & Out bundle.

Owning new Stampin’ Up! makes me happy!

Over the years I’ve grown to love cards with non specific sentiments such as ‘friend’.

And I {LOVE} the fonts in this set!

So, using the friend stamp & die, I’ve made a trio of friend cards, to celebrate all my stamping friends and how happy their friendship & support makes me.

Stamping with Friends blog hop | kelly kent

I’ve used lots of Stampin’ Up! products in these cards that make me happy!

Happy colours…Sweet Sugarplum, Berry Burst, Bermuda Bay & Pool Party

Happy embellishments… glitter dots

Happy dies… stitched shapes

Layouts that make me happy, vellum and of course twine!

I think the only happy favourite that’s missing is white embossing!

It think it’s safe to say I have a ‘style’ when it comes to card making!!!!

Here’s the cards in more detail…

Just Add Ink #360 – Sketch

At Just Add Ink this week, we’re creating using an awesome sketch created by Narelle – that lady is a master at layouts!

Image may contain: text

I know I say it every time, but I really do love sketches – they open up a world of possibilities and give you the perfect starting point for your own unique design!

Make sure to visit the Just Add Ink blog and see what the JAI design team created!

You can also add your own creation to the link up and join the weekly challenge.

I was delighted when I saw the sketch components for this challenge – because they fit perfectly with the Yummy in my Tummy monster stamp, which I wanted to share with you one last time before it hits the officially retired list for Occasions 2017!

How cute is that monster!!!

I stamped the monster onto DSP from the Cupcakes & Carousels stack, cut him out, then stamped again onto Daffodil Delight & Bermuda Bay cardstock and cut out the horns, paws & tummy before sticking them into place.

The rest of the supplies in this card are all sticking around, so there’s no hurry, but if you love that monster, he’s only here until 31st May (or sold out).  The same goes for the Cupcakes & Carousels DSP (which is on special!).

You can shop in my online store 24-7.

I’m looking forward to using that Hexagon Folder for another year!

And although I’m sad to have some favourites on the retirement list, there’s a beautiful new catalogue ready to launch in 2 weeks!!!

I Told You Exercise Was Bad For You!

One of my besties broke her hip last month – at the ripe old age of 32!

After the amazing effort of running a half-marathon, she pulled up sore – to be expected of course!

But even an R&R holiday in Bali wasn’t enough to aid in recovery and no wonder, when scans showed she’d fractured her hip!

I’m a half-hearted exerciser.  I love the concept, but rarely get around to doing it – I’d rather be crafting!

Plus, how many times do you hear of people who exercise getting hurt!

So, this seemed like the perfect opportunity to pop out my ‘exercise is bad for you’ mantra for a sassy get well card!

Exercise is Bad For You | kelly kent

The little bandaged up ‘Mummy’ is from the retired Cookie Cutter Halloween stamp set.

I’m so glad I kept it!  It fits with the Cookie Cutter Builder Punch which is carrying over to the next catalogue.

Exercise is Bad For You | kelly kent

I’m sure she’ll be back to running in no time!  Albeit with a more metallic composition than previously!

OnStage 2017 – Affirmation Swaps!

Hello!  As this post goes live, I’ll be starting my day at the Perth OnStage event.

The excitement will be buzzing around the room as approx 175 Stampin’ Up! demos share their love of paper, stamps and ink with each other!

Part of this wonderful day is swapping creativity with each other.  It’s optional to join in with swaps but fun to do so!

“Swaps” can be cards or 3D items.  The only requirement is that they use current Stampin’ Up! products.

I’ve been a touch cheeky on the ‘current’ and included the retired Bermuda Bay glimmer paper from Sale-A-Bration… but it went with my colour theme!

And since we only find out today what’s retiring from the Annual & Occasions catalogue, there’s a chance there’ll be a few more retiring products on my design list.

But that’s ok – because what I wanted to share with my fellow demos was not how to use the products I’ve chosen, but the idea.

These super cute little affirmation bottles came about after a late night Facebook conversation with one of my Stampin’ Up! team.

Kristen is a doTERRA rep who joined Stampin’ Up! to purchase materials for thank you cards, packaging and to celebrate her team.  While chatting about the products we have in the range, the concept of affirmations came up – and from there, affirmations in a bottle!

The wonderful part of this idea is there are so many stamp sets in the Stampin’ Up! range that have positive & uplifting sayings in them that could be used as affirmations.

Or, you can do as I have and use word & phrase builder sets to create your own affirmations.

The ‘you are’, ‘amazing’ and ‘inspiring’ stamps are from the Thoughtful Banners stamp set which is currently in the Annual Catalogue.

The ‘awesome’ and ‘great’ stamps are from the Endless Birthday Wishes stamp set – also in the Annual Catty.

The affirmations are stamped on plain copy paper – this was the easiest to roll up tight to fit in the bottle.  Our beautiful cardstock is too thick!

Of course, the little bottles are so cute when decorated with our pretty Stampin’ Up! embellishments.

I chose butterflies, glimmer, sequins & ribbons.

I used all the current sequin colours – gold, silver, Blushing Bride & Bermuda Bay, together with 1/8″ gold & silver ribbon and the Bermuda Bay stitched ribbon.

And used 4 coordinating glimmer colours – gold, Bermuda Bay (SAB offering), Silver & Blushing Bride.

Each embellishment segment is hot glued together and then hot glued to the glass bottle.

Here’s a close up of each colour combination…

Gold  & Blushing Bride

Blushing Bride & Gold

Silver & Bermuda Bay

Bermuda Bay & Silver

I packaged the swaps into the 2″ x 8″ cello bags (trimmed down before packing) and topped with a Decorative Label topper.

I made quite a few affirmations because I really wanted to spread the love!  I hope the other demos enjoy reading their message.

I know I’m going to get some amazing swaps back – I’ll share some with you this month.

I’m sure the mini bottles are available from a range of places.  I got mine on eBay – 5mL size.

Please use this idea for your own direct sales business as team gifts, or for your customers – or make some up to give to your friends, or as Random Acts of Kindness.

It’s a beautiful way to brighten someone’s day!
