Stamp Review Crew | Dino Days

Hello!  Welcome to a hop with my Stamp Review Crew friends.  We come from all around the world and share a love of Stampin’ Up! stamps.  Today we’re sharing projects made with the Dino Days stamp set.  It comes as part of the Dinoroar suite with coordinating dies (Dino Dies), paper (Dinoroar DSP) and embellishments (Dinoroar Enamel Shapes & 3/8″ Demin Ribbon).  Click here to view in the online store.

I’m always on the lookout for new fun folds and found this one (not new, but new to me!).  Thanks to Lisa Curcio for the tutorial (click here to see her post).

Dino Days | kelly kent

It’s called a Double Point Fold Card with a front layer that opens to reveal secret stamping underneath!  I’ve used Stitched Nested Labels Dies to bridge together the DSP flaps with small magnets to hold it closed when flat.  The flap are made from DSP using a simple score line and origami style folding.

Dino Days | kelly kent

The dinosaur stamps in the set are two step to create super cute dino friends  I’ve stamped the dino in the middle of the card, but the coordinating dies cut the stamps and DSP images!

Dino Days | kelly kent

I love this DSP because it features a mix of patterns than can be used for boys & girls – because girls like dinosaurs too!!!

The set also contains builder stamps to make a palm tree, dinosaur footprints and cute sentiments.  I’ve used the ‘rawrsome’ sentiment on the front of the card…

Dino Days | kelly kent

And then the happy birthday from Seaside Notions on the back of the card.  This card doesn’t have a traditional fold, so while you could write your message on the inside where I’ve stamped the dinosaur, I love the idea of having a back panel with more stamping and lots of room for a birthday message.

Dino Days | kelly kent

Measurements to make your own card (adapted for A4 cardstock):

Base: 4-1/8″ x 5-7/8″ (Daffodil Delight)
Front Mat: 3-7/8″ x 5-5/8″ (Whisper White)

Reverse Mat 2: 3-5/8″ x 5-3/8″

Colours used: for stamping: Mossy Meadow, Soft Suede, Melon Mambo, Old Olive, White heat embossing

Stamp Review Crew | Free as a Bird

Wow – 1st of July!!!  I’m actually not sure where the first 6 months of 2019 went, but welcome to the second half of the year!!!

I’m starting July with a fabulous blog hop with my Stamp Review Crew friends.  Today we’re showing you projects made with the Free as a Bird stamp set.  I’ve also used the coordinating Stitched Nested Label Dies that come with this set in a bundle.

As I got this post ready, I realised that although this style of fancy fold has been my favourite over the last month, I’m yet to share any with you!  I’ve been flat out making Pull Tab Cards – a condensed version of a waterfall card.  Thanks to Jan B and Dawn Griffiths for their tutorial videos.

Free as a Bird | kelly kent

This card has a different orientation than the tutorial videos – with the pull tab at the top.

Free as a Bird | kelly kent

When you pull the tab at the top, the nested label flips over to reveal the panel underneath.

Free as a Bird | kelly kent

The birds and sentiment are heat embossed in black for a lucious black line and then coloured with Stampin’ Blends.  You need to be a touch careful going over the black embossing as the black lifts a little, but overall it’s a great effect.

Free as a Bird | kelly kent

The background panel looks like DSP – but was actually hand stamped by me!  I stamped the flowers and leaves in Memento ink and then coloured with Blends. This is what it looked like before I applied it to my card.

I’ve finished the card with the same stamping on the inside.

Free as a Bird | kelly kent

As I’ve mentioned before, when a card has such a strong identity with a suite – especially when it has a coordinating DSP – I love to change it up and give the stamp set a fresh look.  The colour palette for this card is one of my current favourites – Rococo Rose, Pretty Peacock, Seaside Spray, Blushing Bride and Smoky Slate.

There’s lots more amazing stamping on this hop. For your next bout of inspiration, please keep hopping to visit my gorgeous friend Jackie Aitken.  Jackie is one of our newest crew members and we are so lucky to have her on board!!

Thanks for hopping with us!  Happy stamping x

CASEing the Catty #233 | CASE a Layout

Hello!  How was your weekend?  Welcome to another CASEing the Catty blog hop.  Today’s theme is a whole page of layouts from the 2019-2020 Annual Catalogue to CASE.

No photo description available.

I have chosen the card at the top left – with the gorgeous embossing.

I’ve got a few new products I’ve been itching to play with, so I’ve used this layout to try out the new Dinoroar suite.

Dinoroar | kelly kent

I kept the embossed background but changed it to one of the new 3D embossing folders – Mosaic.

Note about the new 3D embossing folders: Stampin’ Up! have decided not to make us wait for new embossing folders & dies while they continue to perfect the design on the new cutting & embossing machine.  These products will still work with whatever die cutting & embossing machine you own, but you may need some workarounds in the short term.  This 3D embossing folder worked in my Big Shot (which is quite a tight roll) with two upcycled shims – a piece of 6″ x 8″ cardboard that comes with our foil packs and a piece of 6″ x 8″ cardboard from a DSP pack.  You may have to try a few combinations to see what works in your machine.

Dinoroar | kelly kent

I have been loving the beautiful DSP images – and using them often as centrepieces for my cards.  This fun pink dino is cut straight from the DSP using one of the dies from the Dino Dies set.  So easy, so pretty, so awesome!!!

The thank you sentiment is from another new set in my collection – You Always Deliver.  I loved the font style.  I’ve used a dino pun sentiment on the inside…

Dinoroar | kelly kent

I love that Stampin’ Up! included pink dinosaurs in this design.  As a mumma of children who love all the colours in the rainbow, this suite is going to be on high rotation in my craft room!

For more great ideas that started with a page of magnolias and changed into so many other creations, continue the hop with my lovely friend Rachel Palmieri.

If you have some craft time this week, we’ve love for you to share your project inspired by one of the layouts on page 36.  Use this as your starting point and let your creativity take you the rest of the way.  Click here to visit our CASEing the Catty Facebook group.

Thanks for being with us on this fabulous Sunday!

CASEing the Catty #232 | Artistic Expression

Hello!  Thanks for joining us for the first CASEing the Catty of the 2019-2020 Annual Catalogue.  It’s always fun to have new inspiration!

Join us as we choose any project to CASE from the Artistic Expression section of the catalogue – pages 106-159.

No photo description available.

I’ve chosen a card from page 158 showing the Lined Alphabet stamp set & dies.

What caught my eye in this sample is the triangle lines & the ombre colours of the ‘baby’ across the middle.  I used those elements to create a birthday (or other celebration) card using a Mint Macaron tone.

Beautiful Day | kelly kent

The Mint Macaron started with the DSP choice – I had the Mosaic Mood DSP on my table after creating the Tri-Fold Pocket Card for our team hope on Friday.  That card (you can see it here) used a lot of DSP, but it  didn’t use this particular pattern – which I love!  So that become the card base.

Beautiful Day | kelly kent

The next step was to add the triangle features – which in this case are actually more of a hexagon – using the Stitched Nested Label Dies.  The colours are Very Vanilla, Soft Sea Foam, Mint Macaron and Lost Lagoon.   Lost Lagoon is actually a retired colour – but I needed a darker tone to complete the ombre effect – and Lost Lagoon is a favourite of mine!  I wish it had been one of the returning colours during the revamp of 2018!

Once I had my triangle peaks of colour, I added the butterfly from the Beautiful Day stamp set – a returning favourite into the 2019-2020 Annual Catalogue.  It goes perfectly with this DSP, having a natural mosaic effect!

Beautiful Day | kelly kent

The butterfly is stamped in Lost Lagoon ink on Very Vanilla cardstock and then coloured using Stampin’ Blends – Light & Dark Soft Sea Foam and Light & Dark Mint Macaron.  The middle segments have been given a touch of sparkle with the Clear Wink of Stella pen.

Beautiful Day | kelly kent

The card is finished with a sentiment -T”time to celebrate!” from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set.  I’ve stamped this in Lost Lagoon ink and then punched it out using the Classic Label Punch.  The pointed edges of this punch shape worked beautifully with the styling of my card!

So much love for the DSP in this catalogue!  I’m going to need extra supplies of my favourites so I can keep making cards!!!

Hello 2019-2020 Annual Catalogue!!

06.01.19_HEADER_AC_LAUNCH_UKSP

It’s time!  The launch of the 2019-2020 Annual Catalogue happens today!!!

If you haven’t yet seen the catalogue in person, click here to view the pdf copy.  You may also like to contact your local demonstrator to request a hard copy – as the only thing better than flicking through the pages of a catalogue, is having the products in your hands!!!

There’s lots of love in the new catalogue.  It’s filled with pretty suites, fabulous stamp, dies & punches, gorgeous papers, awesome new colours, sensational embellishments and fantastic ideas!

I’m starting the new catalogue with a ‘hello’ card. This sentiment from the Good Morning Magnolia stamp set seemed fitting!  I’ve framed it in a Stitched Nested Label – one of the must have products of the new catalogue!

Good Morning Magnolia | kelly kent

This stamp set contains a very large magnolia stamp.  It’s amazing – incredible for being the feature of your card and awesome for colouring.

The magnolia is stamped in Early Espresso ink with Mossy Meadow watercoloured leaves.  I’ve dabbed the middle of the flower with some Rose Gold Shimmer Paint that came with the Everything is Rosy Product Medley in May.  If you didn’t order the Everything is Rosy Medley, you can achieve a similar look with Blushing Bride ink and Wink or Stella or Champagne Shimmer Paint.

Good Morning Magnolia | kelly kentThe flower is slightly too large to sit well in the landscape orientation, so I’ve trimmer the bottom leaf and tucked it behind the flower.  I like this layered look.

The DSP is one of the patterns from the Magnolia Lane DSP.  The colouring for the magnolia on this card was inspired by another sheet of the DSP.

If you’re looking for more magnolia ideas, I love this colour resource by Bronwyn Eastley – click here to see her magnolia colour combinations.  Thanks for sharing Bron!

When thinking about what I was going to make for this hop, I realised the most obvious thing would be the share the new In Colors with you.  I’ve shared a couple of sneak peeks of my favourites over the last week (Rococo Rose & Pretty Peacock) – but there’s 5 altogether!

Using the Colour Collection DSP, a new stamp set called Butterfly Wishes and the Stitched Nested Labels, I created an In Color gift set…

2019-2021 In Colors | kelly kent

The Colour Collections are available in all 50 Stampin’ Up! colours – with the current patterns of stripes & spots retiring and new patterns being launched of script, mosaic, gingham & diamonds.  You can purchase in the 4 colour families (Brights, Subtles, Neutrals & Regals) and 2 In Color collections (2019-2021 & 2018-2020).

Here’s the colours of the 2019-2021 range…

ROCOCO ROSE

Butterfly Wishes | kelly kent

TERRACOTTA TILE

Butterfly Wishes | kelly kent

PRETTY PEACOCK

Butterfly Wishes | kelly kent

SEASIDE SPRAY

Butterfly Wishes | kelly kent

PURPLE POSY

** Purple Posy ink is currently available while Stampin’ Up! fix a quality issue.  I’ve used Highland Heather ink.  It’s a darker shade – but the tone is great and it’s a great substitute while we wait for the high quality SU! product we’re used to.

Butterfly Wishes | kelly kent

Do you have a favourite??  I actually think I’m going to love them all!  Even Terracotta Tile is growing on me!

Butterflies are definitely a crafting staple for stamps and it was lovely to see another sweet butterfly set in the catalogue. Butterfly wishes has stamps that coordinates with the Butterfly Duet punch, new butterfly shapes and gorgeous sentiments.

The butterfly I’ve used on this card is the DisINKtive style of stamping – very detailed!  It doesn’t like super inky pads, so to get a beautifully crisp image, make sure to scrape back the ink on your ink pad (an old credit card works well as a scraping tool) and use the less inky section you’ve created to add ink to your stamp.Butterfly Wishes | kelly kent

To add some extra texture to my butterflies, I’ve stamped once on the label and again on a piece of scrap – cutting front wing of the second butterfly and then adhering it for a fluttering effect.

Any stamp set that has great images AND a birthday sentiment is top of my wishlist.  Don’t you just love the ‘Birthday wishes’ of this set???  I’ve heat embossed in white (my favourite way to add a sentiment) and cut using the Darling Label Punch (a returning item from the 2018-2019 Annual Catalogue).

Butterfly Wishes | kelly kent

You know I’m a fan of anything stitched, so it’s no surprise the Stitched Nested Labels have been on high rotation here at Papercraft HQ.  The stitching is a dotted line (rather than the dashed line we’ve seen in the other stitched sets) and it’s just delightful!!!  They are bundled with the Free As A Bird stamp set – and I know you’ll see lots of amazing projects on the hop using these products.

Kelly’s Stamping Friends | Birthday Blog Hop 2019

No photo description available.

Happy Birthday to me!  Tomorrow is my special day and to celebrate, it’s become a bit of a tradition (we’re in our third year) of gathering my stamping friends and having a blog hop.

I’m joined by 23 of the sweetest, most talented stampers that the South Pacific has to offer.  Enjoy the project from each creator and then click on next to hop through to the next project.  The hop runs in a circle, so you don’t need to start at any particular point – just keeping scrolling through the beautiful artwork and click on next until you get back to where you started.  If any of the next links are broken (it happens sometimes!), there’s a list of participants at the end of this post.

Seeing as it’s my birthday, there’s a loose birthday theme for tonight’s hop.  But (because it’s my birthday and I can break the rule), I have strayed slightly from that theme and my card is a thank you – a great big thank you to all the designers who have joined me on this hop to celebrate and another big thank you to everyone who visits us!

Free As A Bird Sneak Peek | kelly kent

For this hop, I’m sharing with you some of my new birthday presents.  I love the happy coincidence that my birthday month is also a Stampin’ Up! preorder*** month.  I love gifts – giving gifts, getting gifts, buying myself gifts!  Happy Birthday to me!

***Preorder means a demonstrator can order from a new catalogue or promotion earlier than its release.  Customers will be able to order new items shown on this post from 4th June.  Can’t wait?  Ask me about joining my team.

Free As A Bird Sneak Peek | kelly kent

This card features the new Stampin’ Up! stamp set – Free As a Bird and coordinating dies – Stitched Nested Label Dies.  The stamp set has the most beautiful bird & flowers combination and the dies are a dotted edge – a new pattern for the SU range.  The stitched edge effect creates a fabulous border both inside & out.

Although this card looks pretty on the front, the magic happens when you fold it out.  I’ve combined a couple of ideas to create a Window Front Z Fold Card.  The card front has a Nested Die cut out and the bird panel is actually attached to the Z fold in the middle of the card.

Let me show you more pictures.  Here’s the card when the Z is still folded  but the card front is open.

Free As A Bird Sneak Peek | kelly kent

And then when totally opened out…

Free As A Bird Sneak Peek | kelly kent

I’ve added a couple of little magnets to keep the card closed when it’s all folded back in.

The measurements for this card:

Card Base – 4-1/8″ x 11-11/16″ (half an A4 page lengthways), scored at 5-7/8″

Insert – 3-7/8″ x 11-1/4″, scored at 2-13/16″ & 5-5/8″

DSP (left panel) – 2-11/16″ x 3-3/4″

Cardstock (middle panel) – 2-11/16″ x 3-3/4″

DSP (right panel) – 5-1/2″ x 3-3/4″

I love that those gorgeous birds are a feature inside & out of the card.  I’ve stamped all the images for this card in StazOn ink and coloured them with ink and an Aqua Painter.

Free As A Bird Sneak Peek | kelly kent

The Bird Ballard DSP I’ve used in the card is from the same suite as the stamp set.  These colours helped me to choose the colours for colouring.  The card base is Petal Pink, the Nested Label is Soft Suede and for colouring I’ve used Petal Pink, Blushing Bride, Crumb Cake, Pool Party, Old Olive & Smoky Slate.

Free As A Bird Sneak Peek | kelly kent

As well as the whimsy of the birds and the flowers, I  love the sentiments from this set.  And I thought given all the wonderful friends I have along on this hop with me, the one I’ve chosen for the inside (Your friendship means the world to me) is just perfect!!!

Free As A Bird Sneak Peek | kelly kent

Did I mention how much I love gifts?  I’d like to gift this card and a sampler of the pretty Bird Ballard DSP to someone special.  To be in the running, leave a comment on this blog post and I’ll choose a winner on Tuesday 28th May 2019.

Next up on for the birthday fun is the gorgeous Shannon Kissane.
