February – why are you leaving us so quick???

I know February is the shortest month of the year, but this one just zipped by me!  Things at Papercraft HQ went into serious overdrive – three kids to keep alive, three houses to look after, a birthday, some anniversaries, the start of school, resuming card making classes for the year and so much more meant every day was a whirlwind of activity!

With all that happening, it’s only in the final moment of February I’m marking some things off my to-do list – like posting birthday cards for friends!  They will arrive in March, but I posted them in February – so it still counts!!!

I’ve always appreciated having a birthday month, so hopefully the recipients will too!

I made these cards using some Occasions Catalogue favourites and also a new DSP available as a Level 2 Sale-A-Bration reward.  See the second release catalogue by clicking here.  The Painted Seasons DSP comes in a bundle with a floral stamp set – available to redeem when your order reaches $180.

I like to make multiples of cards with subtle differences.  Easy changes – like a different size butterfly in this case – give you a different card for minimal design effort.  Other easy changes are – changing the orientation or using different colours or DSP.

The second card used the same die set, but the large butterfly as the centrepiece.

Beauty Abounds | kelly kent

Both cards have the same bokeh dots in Poppy Parade, Grapefruit Grove & Blushing Bride (to coordinate with the DSP) on a Rectangle Label (of course!), a Stitched Label die cut and a heat embossed sentiment.  The sentiment is cut down from the ‘FRIENDSHIP’ stamp in the Beauty Abounds set.  I always love it if I can get multiple uses from the words in a set.

Beauty Abounds | kelly kent

And those dots – I’m still in love!  I originally bought the Beauty Abounds stamp set just for the dots.  And I have no regrets!

Beauty Abounds | kelly kent

The stamp set also has a lovely flourish that I thought would look nice on the inside of the card.  Seems to be the month for extra decorating!  I love colouring with my Stampin’ Blends – they are so smooth and luxurious!

Here’s hoping that March is a little slower in pace but just as full of love, happiness and fun!

Dandelion Wishes | Team Swaps

Our Paper Adventures team got together on the weekend for a team meeting.  We tend to do this every 6 weeks so we can chat Stampin’ Up!, check in with each other and get crafty!

This meeting was hosted by the lovely Joanne.  She chose a Christmas in July theme, spoiling us with Christmas gifts and a gorgeous 3D make & take card.

Each meeting we have the option to bring along cards that we share (swap) with other, so we can be inspired by the creativity of others.

I recently had Dandelion Wishes delivered and wanted to get it inky. The images & font in this set are lovely!

Dandelion Wishes | kelly kent

I used my stamparatus to ink the sentiment in colour first and then again in Versamark so I could heat set it with clear embossing powder.  This gives it a slightly darker tone of the same colour and a pretty shiny finish!

This stamp set is a wonderful match with the Bokeh Dots stamp set. I used the sparkle stamp to create the background.  Many people have been surprised when this stamp has arrived that it’s small (about 8 x 5.5cm) when stamped.  I cut my layer of Whisper White cardstock down by 1/4″ (0.5cm) and then cut it in half length & width ways.  This gave me 4 small segments which I was able to stamp and layer.

I made 4 different colour combinations of this card – Balmy Blue (pictured above) plus…

So Saffron

Dandelion Wishes | kelly kent

Blushing Bride

Mint Macaron

I love a monochromatic card!   I used Smoky Slate as the neutral colour – it goes so well with the Subtles range.

Dandelion Wishes | kelly kent

Which colour is your favourite???

If given a choice of swaps, I often pick yellow tones.  Or pink – that’s one of my favourite colours.  But I also love greens, and blues and purples….

Have you seen this image about seeing colour – it’s so true!  Although I tend to think & talk in Stampin’ Up! colours (so do the Miss Papercrafts – they love learning the colour names!).

If you need more Stampin’ Up! colours in your life, then you won’t want to miss the joining special during July.

Now through July 31, Stampin’ Up! are offering one FREE assortment of Classic Stampin’ Pads* of your choosing as part of your regular Starter Kit. The Starter Kit $169 and can be filled with any $235 of products that you choose.

Click here to join, or contact me with any questions you have about being part of my Paper Adventures team.

*Assortments include 10 coordinating ink pads from one of the following color collections: Brights, Neutrals, Regals, Subtles, and 2017–2020 In Colors.

No matter which ink pad assortment you choose, it’s an incredible value. I think the hardest part would be choosing which 10 ink pads were your style!

Just Add Ink #414 | Window or Frame

Hello & welcome to Just Add Ink Challenge #414.

Image may contain: text

This week we are adding a Frame or Window to a card, layout or 3D item.  Join us with your Window or Frame project on our blog.

I think I’m stretching the theme a little this week – my whole card is a window!!!

Twinkle Twinkle Window Card | kelly kent

I took a piece of Window Sheet – 4″ x 12″ and scored at 6″.  You have to be firm with it to get it to fold along the middle, but with some gentle persuasion, I was able to form a card base from the Window Sheet material.

Twinkle Twinkle Window Card | kelly kent

The card is very simple – but it’s the simplicity I love!!!

I’ve embellished with products from the Twinkle Twinkle suite – one of the new offerings in the 2018-2019 Annual Catalogue.

Twinkle Twinkle Window Card | kelly kent

The sentiment is black heat embossed on Soft Sea Foam cardstock and cut with a die from the Stitched Label Thinlits.

The moon & stars are cut from So Saffron, Petal Pink and Pool Party cardstock using the Twinkle Builder Punch  I backed the cardstock with Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet before punching so I didn’t have to use liquid glue on the window sheet.  The silver stars you spy are from the Twinkle Adhesive Backed Sequins – they are just the sweetest!

Twinkle Twinkle Window Card | kelly kent

The strip of DSP down the left side is from the Twinkle Twinkle DSP.  I know I’ll be going through a few packs of these, so I’ll be stocking up in July when there’s a buy 3, get 1 free offer on select DSPs!!!  I’ll post more details about this amazing deal on the weekend!

Thanks for joining me today for Just Add Ink.  Don’t forget to visit the blog to view the design team creations and add your window / frame creation!

Paper Adventures Winter Retreat

Winter has hit with a vengence in south west WA – it’s wet, it’s cold and it’s windy!!!

There have been a few glimpses of sunshine before the regular winter programming returns.

Luckily, for us, stamping is an indoor sport – perfect for all weather.  Too hot – craft in the air-con, too cold – craft with the heater on!!!

Last year we started an annual Paper Adventures Retreat Day, hosted by one of our teamies who has a gorgeous residence in the Perth Hills.  2017 saw us travel up for a beautiful spring day.

2018’s planning involved a wet weather winter trek!!!  We arrived safely and had a wonderful day of crafting – and even managed to sneak some sunshine for a team photo.

Paper Adventures Team Retreat 2018 | kelly kent

Retreat days are all about the crafting and eating!!!

The eating was a shared morning tea. lunch & afternoon tea with everyone contributing something delicious for the day.  Our hostess kept us well hydrated with copious cups of tea and fabulous coffee.

The crafting was make & take style with each of us bringing a project in a box.  You make the sample, cut up the kits and put all the materials in a box.  The boxes are passed around and each crafter makes & takes home one of each design.  It needed to be easy enough to make with minimal instruction within a 30 minute time frame.

I wanted to share the new embossing mat with the team, so this was my card for them to make…

Embossing Mat | kelly kent

The butterfly is from the new Sprintime Impressions Thinlits but instead of cutting it, we layered it with the Embossing Mat to leave the outline on the cardstock.

Embossing Mat | kelly kent

Other supplies in this card are Nature’s Poem DSP, Stitched Label & Stitched Shapes Framelits and Hanging Garden stamp set.

Because each person created with a different box and created a different card in each time slot, I offered an alternative layout using the same pieces –

Embossing Mat | kelly kent

This is always a fun way to create a ‘different’ card but not having to completely design.  Design & colour choices are always the most complex part of creating cards.

Embossing Mat | kelly kent

Thanks to our Paper Adventures team for being wonderful – they really are the loveliest people I know!!!

CASEing the Catty #182 | Tea Room

It’s been a blustery weekend here in southwest WA!  Perfect weather for crafting in my pjs but not so good for taking photos for my blog!  What a problem to have!!!

Thanks for joining us for CASEing the Catty #182 as we start our tour through the new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalogue – available now until 3rd June 2019.

We’re CASEing (Copy & Share Everything) the Tea Room suite and following pages of the catalogue.

One of the things I loved the most as I was flicking through the catalogue was the use of the Tranquil Textures Sprinkles on Linen Thread…

It takes a little while to thread them on (they are so cute & tiny) but it’s worth the effort for the extra wow to adds to a card.

Tranquil Textures Sprinkles | kelly kent

I added them to some Lined Alphabet creations I’ve been making using this amazing stamp set and my Stamparatus.

Lined Alphabet | kelly kent

Perfect for one card or some Saturday afternoon mass production, the Stamparatus makes lining up the letters a breeze.

Lined Alphabet | kelly kent

I did every second letter of birthday on the first pass and then the other letters to complete the word on the second pass.

Lined Alphabet | kelly kent

I then did the same with happy to make my sentiment panel.  It was quick to whip up lots of these which I’ve left uncoloured, ready for when I want to coordinate with a DSP that suits the recipient.

Lined Alphabet | kelly kent

The happy birthday card was made with the Share What You Love DSP and coloured with Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry & Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Blends.

Lined Alphabet | kelly kent

The thank you card uses Tranquil Textures DSP with Night of Navy, Pool Party & Rich Razzleberry Stampin’ Blends.

Lined Alphabet | kelly kent

I can’t wait to get my hands on the new Blends colours!!!  Mint Macaron, Highland Heather, Soft Sea Foam – yes please!!!

We’d love for you to join us at CASEing the Catty.  Head over to Facebook for all the action!  There’s a weekly challenge with weekly winners!

The Tea Room CTC hop continues with Angela Meirtiz-Reid in New Zealand.

Thanks for joining us,

Long Weekend Love

We are currently enjoying a long weekend in Western Australia – WA Day to be exact!  After a rainy & windy week, the sun is shining and it’s going to be a lovely weekend of craft & family time here at Papercraft HQ.

My long weekend started yesterday with a gorgeous wedding.  The location was amazing in the rolling hills of Margaret River (about an hour south of here).

The wedding card a mix of my Stampin’ Up! supplies and the wedding invite.

Delightfully Detailed Wedding Card | kelly kent

The new Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut Specialty DSP is sensational for so many types of cards – including wedding cards!!  It’s already cut, so you just need to trim the pieces to size and oh-so carefully adhere them to your card.

Although I’m yet to work my way through my new catalogue wishlist, the Stitched Labels are still absolutely at the top of my must-have list.

Stitched Labels | kelly kent

The sentiment is from my favourite host set in the new catalogue – Hand Delivered.

I love the personal touch of using the styling of the invite to create the design of the card – but it’s even better when I can take parts of the invite and reuse them.

The twine on the card is from the invite and I’ve reused the lace strip too.

Money Pocket Card | kelly kent

The bride and groom have been together for many years and have already set up house, so they asked for any wedding gifts to be money towards their honeymoon.  It’s a great reason for another embellishment in the card!

I used the envelope punch board to create a pouch inside the card to keep the money safe.

Money Pocket Card | kelly kent

Wishing the new bride & groom lots of happiness in the next stage of their adventure together!

Delightfully Detailed Wedding Card | kelly kent

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Sharing What We Love

Year by year, our Paper Adventures team continues to grow as Stampin’ Up! loving crafters join the journey.  Some jump in feet first knowing they are going to love it.  Some take a little longer, but most of our team stay for a while to enjoy the team environment, fantastic discount and perks of being a demonstrator.

We celebrated another success in the team last month when Mary promoted to Bronze Elite. Mary’s 2018-2019 Annual Catalogue wishlist just became an even better deal with a 25% discount on all the Stampin’ Up! she orders.

I celebrate all the successes my team have with a card and gift.  This is the card I made for Mary using everyone’s favourite May pre-release suite – Share What You Love.

Share What You Love | kelly kent

I added in the new Stitched Labels Framelits (available to demonstrators on pre-order now, and to customers from 1st June 2018) – they are oh-so-special!!!

Stitched Labels Framelits | kelly kent

And since Mary couldn’t make it to our demonstrator class last week, I made a Statement of the Heart frame for her craft room.

Share What You Love - Statement of the Heart Shadow Box Frame | kelly kent

If you’d like your very own discount, demonstrator perks and belonging to a wonderful group of stampers, then join our Paper Adventures team.  It’s a wonderful risk-free opportunity #nothingtolose.
