After almost two months of using the 2021-2023 In Colors, I can confirm that I love them! Soft Succulent is definitely my favourite, followed closely by it’s partner in crime Evening Evergreen. What’s the most used of these 5 pretties in your craft room?

For many years now I have created free printable inserts for the Stampin’ Up! clear cases to store your In Color products. You can see the archive of previous inserts by clicking here. With the standard cases as the only one left to buy now and a range of specialty range of storage solutions available in the catalogue, I wasn’t going to continue to create new inserts. But, I hear from your messages and emails asking me when I’ll have the clear case inserts for the new In Colours available, that many of you are still storing your markers and ink refills in these cases.

So, by popular demand, click on the link below to download the pdf document –

These are available for you to download and print free of charge and are for personal use only.  You are welcome to share a link to this page with your stamping friends & customers.  Please do not upload these files to your own blog, Facebook page/group or any other online source.

These are designed using A4 paper sizes.  For correct printing, ensure ‘actual size’ in printing options.

Just Add Ink #254 – Colour Challenge

This is week 2 for me as a guest designer with the Just Add Ink team.

Just Add Ink #254 is a colour challenge.

I think orange is such a polarising colour – generally you love it or avoid it.  I have to say I’m usually in the avoid group, but it was nice to be forced into using it for my pirate card.

The Hey, Valentine stamp set was a late Occasions catalogue purchase for me.  On & off the wish list for the past few months (love it … don’t make many v-day cards… so cute for kids cards … don’t love the sentiments…), I finally gave in to the cuter-than-cute pirate.  I H-A-D to have him.  And like most of my on-again-off-again purchases, there are no regrets.  I haven’t cut the sentiment off the stamp yet, but I am known to butcher up my stamps if I think it suits my stamping better.  For this card though, a bit of masking tape action and the ‘you’re a treasure’ remained un-inked.  The stamp survives another day!

With this being a tough pirate card, I roughed up the edges using the distress tool.  It’s a nice change from my usual clean lines.

It’d be great to see lots of cards submitted for Just Add Ink this week.  Get creative with the challenge colours and add your creation to the Just Add Ink blog.  Kelly x

Getting Fancy with Wetlands

It’s been a while since I’ve shared a Wetlands card with you.  With all the new catty things on my shelf, I’ve been neglecting some of the old faithfuls.  So just in case you missed them too …

The starting point for this card was seeing a beautiful card by my friend Narelle using this style of gatefold (tutorial for a gatefold card here).  I then added in the Wetlands wading birds and proceeded to cover them up with more wading birds on a belly band, creating layers of colour.  The background watercolouring is a technique called Colour Blocking.  It is achieved by colouring in a clear block with Stampin’ Write Markers which is spritzed with water before stamping onto Very Vanilla cardstock.  I intentionally left this card sentiment free so it can be used for any occasion.  I used from the  ‘water drops’ DSP from the Moonlight Stack in keeping with my theme (though realised once it was stuck down that I would have preferred it up the other way!).  I had a great time cheating on the standard C6 card with this funky gatefold version.  A little more cardstock (though if you use 12×12, you’ll get two cards from 1 piece), but a great finish.  Kelly x

Framelits: Deco Labels

DSP: Moonlight Stack

Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Soft Suede, Lost Lagoon

Work of Art Rainbows

When I saw Joanna’s rainbow card on Pinterest I fell in love!  What a gorgeous way to use the large stamp from Work of Art.  I knew from the first moment I saw WOA when the US demos starting posting samples, that it would be a hit.  The size & shape of the stamps are so versatile and I’m getting lots of use out of it.  If you haven’t already bought it, make sure it’s on your next Stampin’ Up! order – you’ll thank me 🙂  Kelly x

Stamp Set: Work of Art

Punches: Itty Bitty Accents Pack

Cardstock: Whisper White, Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo

Ink: Blackberry Bliss

Stampin’ Write Markers: Melon Mambo, Daffofil Delight, Old Olive, Tempting Turquoise, Blackberry Bliss

Extras: Stampin’ Write Dimensionals

Sending Swallowtail Thanks

I love the Swallowtail stamp.  It’s size makes it perfect for filling up a whole card front, and the fact that it’s a butterfly makes it great for the ‘flutter’ effect.  My ‘flutter’ was achieved by cutting along the right edge of the butterfly, to create a sculpted edge.  The sentiment is stamped on what would be the inside of the card, but since the front is cut away, you can see it even when the card is closed.

With all the hype about the new Stampin’ Up! Blendabilities, I have been inspired to do some colouring of my own.  But since I wasn’t allowed to buy *EVERYTHING* from the new Stampin’ Up! catalogue, I’ve had to be content with my colour tools of choice being Stampin’ Write Markers.   Not that it’s any kind of compromise – they colour like a dream and no blending required.  I used the new in-colours, since my love affair with all things Blackberry Bliss continues!

Stamp Sets: Swallowtail, Yippee-Skippee

Cardstock: Whisper White

Ink: Tuxedo Black Momento

Markers: 2014-16 In Colour Stampin’ Write Markers

Accessories: Paper Snips, Stamp-a-ma-jig

Coordinating Storage – Stampin’ Write Markers

Now that you’ve put all your ink refills into cases, it’s time to organise your Stampin’ Write Markers.  As they have tips at both ends supplied by a cartridge in the middle of the pen, it is ideal to store your Stampin’ Write Markers horizontally so that each end stays moist.  Storing them in clear mount DVD style cases is perfect.  If you’d like printable inserts for them (made by me in MDS), click on the links below.  You can download just the jpg files you need in each colour story, or download the Microsoft Word file – ready for printing.  There’s also a ‘blank’ insert if you don’t own whole colour collections, you can colour the ‘splatter’ with the matching pen and write it’s name on the line.  Each insert measures 17.8cm (5-5/8″) x 14.3cm (7″).  I love it when everything has a place.  In theory that should make it easier to clean up….
