Happy & Timeless Birthday Wishes

This is a card I made for a gorgeous friend who celebrated her birthday during the week.  It was so lovely I decided we’d make it for today’s class as well!

Happiest Birthday Wishes - Timeless Textures & Watercolor Wishes stamp sets plus Botanical Buildlers Framelits. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

I had challenged myself to use the Timeless Textures stamp set from the Occasions catalogue.  I love the idea of it but grungy & random stamping isn’t my thing.  I think this layout is a nice compromise!

Meanwhile, I’m totally in love with the Botanical Builders framelits and using them on every card & project that crosses my desk!  In my crafting opinoin, you can never have too much of a good thing – and I can say, without hesitating, that I’m getting {excellent} value for money from my Botanicals suite!  Kelly x

The Festive Flower Punch… JAI285

I’ve had a festive flower on my to-do list since I first got this punch in August.  And can you believe, over 2 months later, this is first time I’ve used the punch to make an actual flower.  I’ve been using it – to make fish, for the cute little crosses, for the petal shape… But I haven’t actually constructed a whole flower.

Until today!  The Just Add Ink colour combination screamed “FLOWER” to me, so I took the opportunity and ran with it.

Now, I confess, I didn’t actually watch the Stampin’ Up! video that gives you great advice about how to make the flower up.  I just winged it…  But, I ended up with a pretty flower, so all good! The video is definitely worth watching though!

Here is my very first festive flower!

Now, I wasn’t sure about this colour combination at first.  All those sweet subtles with Night of Navy, but as usual, the challenge was a great opportunity to try something different – and the colours work!  Who knew!!! {Apart from the clever girls at JAI of course!}

And my love affair with the Watercolor Wishes stamp set continues.  The selection of sentiments are just beautiful.

Now, I’ll have to watch the video, get punching and make a Christmas poinsettia flower just like the designers intended. There’s more than one way to make a festive flower!!!  Kelly x

Sweet & Simple Sympathy Wishes

I often find it challenging to find the right balance for sympathy cards.

I was really happy with how this one turned out – the simplicity of the design, the muted colours and the subtly of the ‘you’re in my thoughts’ message.

Do you recognise the sentiment?  It’s from one of the most amazing sets available this year and comes as part of the Watercolor Wishes kit.  The set contains lots of useful sentiments with beautiful typography & styling.

Do you like the butterflies on the card?  They are two-step stamped using the Garden in Bloom stamp set, fussy cut and then adhered on top of a matching butterfly silhouette.
