Thanks A Botanical Bunch!

Have you seen the colour combination for the Global Design Project #029 floating around Pinterest this week?

You can thank Bruno Bertucci for the influx of brown, orange & teal!  His Hoot card is super cute, but it was certainly a challenge to put those colours together in another context!

This was my photo inspiration to go with the colour combo….

Which gave me this card…

Global Design Project #029 - Thanks A Botanical Bunch card using Tangelo Twist, Early Espresso & Bermuda Bay. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

The flowers work really well in this fresh & modern colour combination.  Plus, I was starting to miss those flowers from the Botanical Builders Framelit set!

And, what a win on the sentiment from the Sprinkles of Life stamp set!  I do love a good pun – and a good cause.  $3 from every Sprinkles of Life stamp set sold goes to the Ronald McDonald House Charity.  Did you need a 3rd reason?  The stamp set matches the amazing Tree Builder punch.  It’s an easy stamp set to miss in the main catalogue – you can find it on the inside back cover of the annual catalogue.

Thanks a bunch?  Oh, you’re welcome! Kelly x

Happy Sunday! I’d Rather Be …

Hello Sunday!  The day for lazy starts, pajamas and pancakes! Well, in our house anyway!

Today’s share reminds me of the “I’d rather be fishing” sentiment – another great Sunday tradition for many families.

I’d rather NOT be fishing, so instead I’ll share a fishing punch art card with for, which might be good inspiration for a man you know who likes to spend his Sundays on the water.

If you’re wondering what I’d rather be doing?  It’s a toss up between uninterrupted craft time and being curled up on the couch with a movie and chocolate!  Kelly x

Finding Inspiration – the ‘new’ Olaf

They say you find inspiration in the strangest places.  I do lots of card design in my head.  Having two little people and a crazy, busy life, lots of my thinking time occurs doing mundane tasks – shower, driving, folding washing….  This one came to me doing the dishes, when I saw the Frozen Kleenex box of tissues the girls had nagged me to buy:

Washing away… and then it struck me – wouldn’t this make a cute card, with the ‘hope your day stacks up to be one good thing on top of another’ sentiment from Sprinkles of Life stamp set (currently available to demos on pre-order, available to stampers everywhere on 2nd June).  So, this is what it looks like in papercraft form:

I used Shimmery White paper as the base, with Pacific Point ink brayered over the top (my brayering technique needs a bit of work!).  The trees are from the ever faithful “Lovely as a Tree” stamp set and then a punch art Olaf using the Gift Bow Bigz die and almost all my builder punches {have I mentioned how awesome these are for punch art???} – owl, bird, tree, cupcake.

Where does inspiration most often hit you?  Please tell me I’m not the only one dreaming up cards while doing housework!?!  Kelly x

Tree Builder Punch – be prepared to get more than you bargained for!

I know you’re going to love the tree builder punch, so I don’t have to “sell” it to you … but wait until you see it’s full potential and you won’t be able to resist adding it to your very first order!

Not only does it make the obvious tree that it’s name suggests – like my life cycle of the apple tree screen card…

But you can use the pieces to make such a variety of cards/themes.  Especially when you add in the Sprinkles of Life stamp set…

My SU! Secret: What I Did Today…

image

As you know, I’ve been keeping a secret …

It all starts here …

A couple of months ago, Stampin’ Up! home office in the US contacted me to ask if I would be a presenter in a demonstration booth at convention. I was skeptical when I first got the email – what would home office know about ME, a little known demo on the west coast? Well, apparently they do know about me and my love of punch art. And they wanted me to share the passion with my fellow demos at this years convention.

So, the last couple of months have been filled with new products, sneak peaks and late night brainstorms to come up with an hour of demonstrating and a board filled with samples.

What an amazing experience! Without this opportunity, convention would never have been possible for me.

Here’s some photos:

Over the next little while, I’ll share my samples with you. But I’ll start today with the two cards I demo’ed.

The first card focused on the “Tree Builder” punch and “Sprinkles of Life stamp set” which will appear in the new catalogue (starts 2nd June). I used the tree shape to create a template for sponging clouds & grass and then added a stamped & punched tree on top plus a beautiful sentiment.  The DSP is from a new paper stack called “Cherry on Top” and the embossing folder is “Happy Heart” which is carrying over from the Occasions catalogue.

The second demo I did used the “Triple Banner” punch and “Build a Birthday stamp set” which are also coming up in then new catalogue.  It features a layered banner plus some current (annual catalogue & Occasions catalogue) offerings.

Tonight, as you can imagine, I’m exhausted by what has turned out to be an amazing part of my papercraft journey. I’m feeling very blessed. Kelly x
