JAI 241 – Sketch Challenge {Flower Patch DSP}

I’m not a huge fan of orange hues… but I do love orange and purple together.  So, for this creation, I’ve teamed up Tangelo Twist & Blackberry Bliss with Strawberry Slush & Wild Wasabi to make a Flower Patch stamped DSP / patterned paper.  The stamps in Flower Patch are so cute and because of their size & diversity, they make great background stamps.

The measurements for the panels are 1-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ on a mat that measures 3-7/8″ x 5-5/8″ and then mounted onto a C6 card [with a top fold, which I’m totally in love with at the moment].  You could use custom made DSP like I did, ready-to-go DSP, a background stamp (like I Love Lace or Hardwood), embossed cardstock or a solid colour.  So many options for a very versatile sketch.  Kelly x

Terrific “Flower Patch” Texture – JAI240

The theme for Just Add Ink this week is “TEXTURE”.  I was a little daunted at first, but got there in the end!

I have gone for multiple layers of texture – starting with Perfect Polka Dots embossing (they don’t call them Textured Impressions Embossing Folders for nothing!!!), adding a Hexagon Hive Thinlit layer and finishing with a “Flower Patch” resting on a burlap banner.  I always have so much fun with the JAI challenges!  Kelly x

Everything that Glitters is Awesome!!!

This creation was made for a friend who wanted a card with an “awesome” gold theme that matched in with the party invite & present she’d bought.  It’s great example of how versatile most of the stamp sets can be – the sentiment is from the Flower Patch Photopolymer Stamp Set but there isn’t a flower in sight!  And the love affair with Flower Patch continues.  Kelly x

Project Life – not just scrapbooking!

Project Life is aimed at easy memory keeping.  But did you know that you can use the cards in the kit for so much more than just pretty fillers & journal cards in the Project Life pocket pages?

I’ve made 4 greeting cards to show you and a set of tags using Project Life cards in the Everyday Adventure Collection (kit & digital).  In some ways, it’s like using mini DSP (with a lot of lovely variety).  Because of the lovely bold patterns, it makes for quick designs – perfect if you want to make lots of cards in a short space of time!  A kit is $20.95 for 100 double sided cards – that’s only 21c per card!  So they also make for cheap projects.  The only downside is you only get one of each design – which is where my love of MDS came in, because I can print favourites to use over & over.

Also for you today – a quick reference sheet for the colours in each of the Project Life Card Kits.  Like many of the Stampin’ Up! products, the kits contain a set of colours.  This allows you to coordinate your other Stampin’ Up! products with your Project Life.  The Everyday Adventure Collection contains Basic Black, Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, Pear Pizzazz, Pumpkin Pie, Strawberry Slush & Whisper White.  So, my greeting cards & tags used these coordinating colours (with a splash of Blackberry Bliss –  because I love it!), which means the colours are balanced and all match in with my chosen Project Life cards.  It doesn’t get much easier than that!  So, I think everyone should add at least one Project Life Card Kit to their new catalogue order – have a play & fall in love!  Kelly x

Scallop Tag Card – French Door Style

Remember the very popular Scallop Tag Closure Card?  Most of the ones I’ve seen (and all of the ones I’ve made), the tags meet up on the right side of the card.  I wanted to show off some lovely (retiring) DSP, so have changed the folds and now the tags meet up in the middle.  It reminds me of beautiful French doors with a lovely garden view!  This card is for a lovely friend, who was lucky enough to keep her birthday to herself after her daughter arrived into the world the day before!  (See yesterday’s post for Sophie’s birthday card).  Happy Birthday Narelle – may your day be peaceful, calm & filled with delight!  Kelly x  PS, I particularly love the vellum embossed flowers on this card – I hadn’t tried this before but will definitely be doing it again – the effect is lovely!

Quick instructions:

1. Take half a piece of A4 cardstock (the size you usually use for a C6 card)

2. Mark each short side at the half way point.  Insert into your Scallop Tag Topper Punch and line up so the mark is in the middle of the punch.  You’ll need to feed your paper above the paper guide on the punch and look at the back to see your mark.  Punch each side.

3. Line up your cardstock in your paper trimmer so you cut off the excess card on each side of the tag (do this on both sides with tags).

4. Place your cardstock in your Simply Scored and score 2″ from each tag.  Fold your card up so that it looks like French doors.  Decorate as desired.
