Just Add Ink #410 | Inspiration

Hello!  It’s a wonderful photo inspiration for Just Add Ink this week.

Jo chose this amazing photo.  I could have made a hundred different cards – so many elements to be inspired by.

The design I settled on was inspired by the hello wall hanging.

I loved adding the bling to the bright blue & pink combination of Bermuda Bay & Melon Mambo.  I heard a few sighs of relief when these colours made it through the Color Revamp!!!

The ‘hello’ stamp is from one of my favourite stamp sets on the retirement list – :”Hello Friend”.  And the ‘birthday girl’ is from a long retired set called “Hello” that I keep because I love it!!!

The dot is from the Text Ya Later stamp set (amazing what gems are hiding in other sets!).  I really thought I would use this stamp set lots – but I think the type of cards I’m making are much more unicorns and rainbows than mobile phones at the moment!  It’s a good one to keep for later.

I’m sure I’ll be going back to this inspiration photo in the future – there’s so much potential!

Miss Papercraft Turns 4!

It’s a special day at Papercraft HQ today – the littlest Miss Papercraft turns 4!

She’s a bundle of energy, full of laughs and provides lots of entertainment in our day!

Miss Papercraft Turns 4!

I got a bit cheeky for her party invites this year – and didn’t make them myself! (Insert gasp here!)

The bought ones were super cute & convenient, and although I didn’t realise at the time, would make a fabulous birthday card design.

Miss Papercraft Turns 4!

I love it when I can take something from everyday life and put a Stampin’ Up! spin on in.  Because Stampin’ Up! is so often on trend, it’s usually not hard to make it all match!

Miss Papercraft Turns 4!

The dots are from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set and the amazingly coordinated sentiments are from the Window Shopping stamp set.

I even managed to pull out some matching wrapping paper!!!!

Miss Papercraft Turns 4!

Happy birthday to our gorgeous Miss.  We love you!

Colour INKspiration #08

Everyone loved the soft & pretty colours of last fortnight’s Colour INKspiration challenge #07.

I lost count of how many ‘lovely’ adjectives I used on commenting on all the beautiful projects!!!

This fortnight’s challenge is going to be polarising!  It’s deeper & darker and more moody!

And features Delightful Dijon which is rarely a favourite colour on anyone’s list!  But I admit that it has grown on me as it nears retirement!!!

I think it’s perfect for cards with a nature theme, masculine/neutral cards or baby cards.

I almost went down the baby card line, but on reflection, I’ve used that theme a number of time for challenges recently.

So, I decided on a neutral / masculine thank you card.  You could easily change the sentiment on this card and make it a birthday card instead.

Since this challenge features 2 of the retiring 2015-2017 In Colors – Delightful Dijon & Tip Top Taupe – I decided on a retiring stamp set too.

It’s a great time of the year to have one last play with sets that won’t make the 2017-2018 Annual Catalogue like the Work of Art stamp set.

UPDATE: It seems like I forgot to check if this set was actually retiring.  It’s not!!! Whoopsie!  Thanks to one of the DT crew for checking for me!

Pleased to be able to share it with you for another year to come!

This card is quite simple, with a fun repetitive pattern using the circle stamp from Work of Art.

Effective techniques don’t always have to be hard work!

This card uses second generation or stamping off to achieve a lighter variation of the same colour.  It’s perfect for darker colours to get some light & shade.

I’ve stamped in Delightful Dijon, Tip Top Taupe and Soft Suede in full strength for some spots, then with technique to achieve a softer tone for each colour for other spots.

You stamp as normal, then stamp again without reinking – getting a lighter colour (second generation).  Or if you just need the lighter version, stamp onto scrap/scratch paper first then onto your project without reinking.

I’ve used it again on the inside of the card…

I’ve added a ‘you’re the best’ sentiment from the All Things Thanks stamp set in white heat embossing on Early Espresso cardstock.  I love the light on dark effect of heat embossing in white.

I was excited to see that All Things Thanks is carrying over!!!

And although you can’t tell in the photo, the case base is made using the new Very Vanilla {THICK} cardstock!  So excited we’re going to have this style of cardstock in VV as well as Whisper White!

You’re going to want to keep going on this hop to see all the amazing ways you can use Delightful Dijon & those moody neutrals.

Next up is the talented & lovely Jackie Noble.

Thanks for visiting!
