A couple of months ago, Stampin’ Up! home office in the US contacted me to ask if I would be a presenter in a demonstration booth at convention. I was skeptical when I first got the email – what would home office know about ME, a little known demo on the west coast? Well, apparently they do know about me and my love of punch art. And they wanted me to share the passion with my fellow demos at this years convention.
So, the last couple of months have been filled with new products, sneak peaks and late night brainstorms to come up with an hour of demonstrating and a board filled with samples.
What an amazing experience! Without this opportunity, convention would never have been possible for me.
Here’s some photos:
Over the next little while, I’ll share my samples with you. But I’ll start today with the two cards I demo’ed.
The first card focused on the “Tree Builder” punch and “Sprinkles of Life stamp set” which will appear in the new catalogue (starts 2nd June). I used the tree shape to create a template for sponging clouds & grass and then added a stamped & punched tree on top plus a beautiful sentiment. The DSP is from a new paper stack called “Cherry on Top” and the embossing folder is “Happy Heart” which is carrying over from the Occasions catalogue.
The second demo I did used the “Triple Banner” punch and “Build a Birthday stamp set” which are also coming up in then new catalogue. It features a layered banner plus some current (annual catalogue & Occasions catalogue) offerings.
Tonight, as you can imagine, I’m exhausted by what has turned out to be an amazing part of my papercraft journey. I’m feeling very blessed. Kelly x
The 2015 year has started for me with sending out some baby cards, which is also another opportunity for a sneak peak of Occasions & Sale-A-Bration products (available very soon!).
Today’s showcase is the Irresistibly Yours DSP – used for the Blushing Bride & Coastal Cabana backgrounds in these cards. The DSP comes without any colour – white with glossy white embossing – then you add colour to it with ink. I’ve kept these simple, but looking forward to experimenting with some colour combinations! The only limit is the ink in your collection!
Pink is for girls …
And blue is for boys ….
Hoping for lots more opportunities to make baby cards during 2015!
I’m also starting with the year with a mini-break away with my family. So, another short break in posting, before joining you on 6th Jan when the Occasions catalogue & SAB promotion goes live! Kelly x
Based on that, it’s probably no surprise that my most clicked category was Punch Art.
Most of my visitors (almost 7000!) came via search engines (thanks Mr Google) or Pinterest and they lived in Australia or USA. Anne Barker, one of my lovely local customers, left me the most comments.
Thank you to everyone! It’s been an amazing journey so far, that I can’t wait to continue in 2015. Kelly x
Today’s cards feature more of the wonderful products that are coming up in the 2015 Occasions catalogue including the very beautiful Painted Petals stamp set. Start writing your wishlist now, ordering starts 6th Jan 2015.
How many new products can you spy as I play around with the Painted Petals stamp set?
This card ‘stems’ (pun intended hehe) from the leftover pieces from FMS design. I had intended to make 2 identical cards (I often do that to save time), but had fun playing around with the pieces to create something same-same-but-different.
The laste on is my favourite – a birthday card made using the Painted Petals stamps to create a heart shaped wreath. I had this floating around in my head since my new products arrived. It’s ‘amazingly amazing’ when ideas translate to designs.
Did you catch all the new products? There were 5 in total:
It was with a heavy heart that the first inking of my gorgeous Lotus Blossom Sale-A-Bration stamp set was for a ‘with sympathy’ card. December brought some very sad news for a couple of families I know. At this time of sadness, it was nice to be able to handcraft a card in which to pass on my condolences.
The Lotus Blossom has many links to spiritualism, faithfulness & rebirth and is associated with beauty and purity. It’s beauty makes it a perfect stamp for so many occasions. If you’re interested in further lotus flower symbolism, the different lotus colours have their own meanings, particularly for those of Buddhist faith (more on this later).
Wishing a very Merry Christmas and wonderful New Year to my family, friends, customer & followers. I’ve had a fantastic year – both personally and as a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator. I am forever grateful to have a hobby that inspires me, keeps me busy, gives me a creative outlet, allows me to meet wonderful people & lets me create beautiful ‘art’ for others. Thank you for sharing in that. It’s definitely been a year of JOY . FRIENDSHIP . PEACE . LOVE . HAPPINESS. I’m looking forward to some exciting adventures on ‘my papercraft journey’ in 2015. Kelly x
PS, a Christmas sneak peak of the new Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Die in the upcoming Occasions 2015 catalogue (starts 6th January 2015).
I had a customer message me this week to ‘thank’ me for her copy of the new catalogues – “all afternoon plans went on hold as I laid on my bed with the aircon on, perusing the paperwork”. Perfect way to spend an afternoon if you ask me!
This card features the truly stunning Painted Blooms DSP from the 2015 Occasions catalogue. It went perfectly with the card I wanted to make for Alexa’s day care room staff who have nurtured her socially, academically & spiritually (the kids do yoga!!!) during 2014. It’s been a delight to take her there each week and we will miss the fabulous staff and their influence. Kelly x
One of the many blessings of being a SU! demo is the opportunity to order new products early. I was so excited to get my box in the mail this week! Christmas came early!
Unfortunately, because I’ve been so busy with the Christmas crazy, I haven’t had much of a chance to play. But, I did try out the new Bow Builder punch to add the finishing touch to my Christmas card for Alexa’s day care. The design matches the Festival of Trees tag I made for each of the glitter monogrammed mugs (see yesterday’s post for more photos).
The Bow Builder punch is so easy to use It’s already a favourite of mine! I can’t wait to try more of the products and tempt you with the goodies. It won’t be hard … there are so any lovely new products. If you would like a copy of the Occasions & SAB catalogues, please contact me and I’ll post one out to you. Kelly x
