Painted Seasons DSP with a Healing Hug!

Sale-A-Bration

I’ve been dazzled and amazed by all the Sale-A-Bration choices in 2019.  Did you know we’ve had three separate releases?  You can see all the choices in the online store by clicking here.

One of my favourites is the Painted Seasons DSP – available as a level 1 product when you spend $90+ or in a bundle with the Painted Seasons stamp set when you spend $180+.

The colours in the DSP are so vibrant with a mix of pretty art patterns and bold geometric designs.

When it became available, I made the decision to just get the DSP.  I might have a little bit of buyers remorse now – as I’ve seen so many beautiful cards with the Painted Seasons stamp set.

But – as much as I’d like to buy one of everything, Mr Papercraft insists I spend money on other thing too (like feeding the kids!).

One of the things Stampin’ Up! do really well, is coordination across the range.  So, even though I don’t have the Painted Seasons stamp set, I do have lots of other lovely stamp sets and found that the large rose – also a Distinktive style of stamp – goes really well with this DSP.

My team made their choice of these cards at our most recent team meeting as the make & take project.

Painted Seasons DSP + Healing Hugs stamp set | kelly kent

I love using the art patterns as whole backgrounds for a card.  I’ve then added the largest Stitched Circle in Wood Textures DSP, a Stitched Rectangle embossed with the Country Floral Embossing Folder (another of my favourite Sale-A-Bration choices), Polka Dot ribbon, Healing Hug rose and the Happy Birthday from Well Said on another Stitched Rectangle.  I do love the stitched die options – how did we ever craft without them?

The rose in this version is Poppy Parade to coordinate with the DSP.

And the rose in this version is Blushing Bride…

If you ever have issues with the Distinktive stamps not giving you a crisp image, try using an old credit card or store card to scrape the ink to one end of your ink pad.  Then apply ink from the end with less ink.  Less is more for the Distinktive stamps.  Another suggestion is to ink the stamp up with a sponge dauber or brayer.

As well as Sale-A-Bration choices in March, there’s also a promotion running with extras that coordinate with your Sale-A-Bration favourites.  Love the frogs but hate fussy cutting?  During March (while stocks last), you can buy the coordinating framelits!

Sale-A-Bration Coordination

There’s also framelits for Hello Cupcake, Lasting Lily and Painted Seasons plus a new punch (Story Label) and an exclusive stamp set (More Than Words).  Click here to see all the Sale-A-Bration coordination products in my online store.  These items are purchase only – they do not have to be earned.

Every current Stampin’ Up! item – catalogue & special promotions – can be found in my online store.  Click here to browse.

Shop with me to receive a handmade thank you card, gifts of appreciation and excellent customer service across all of Australia.

If you’re local to Bunbury, ask me about a workshop in your home or coming to one of my classes.  My next class is Monday 25th March.Kelly Kent - March 2019 Class

I’d love to share my love of Stampin’ Up! with you.  It’s a fabulous creative outlet that you can get started on with just a few supplies.

Colour INKspiration #51

Hello! Welcome to Colour INKspiraton for March 2019.  You may have just come here via our talented guest designer – Vicki Boucher.  Wasn’t her project great!  If you’re starting here, be sure to keep hopping until you reach Vicki to see all the great projects.

Image may contain: one or more people, flower and text

As always, it’s a gorgeous colour palette.  I think we’re going to be seeing a lot of flowers!  But I can’t wait to see what else might come of these colours!

This challenge is bright and fun and I also can’t wait to see what you make with it. Join us on the Colour INKspiration Facebook page to share your project.

My card today was inspired by products I have sitting on my shelf that are very much part of the Stampin’ Up! range but don’t appear in the Annual or Occasions Catalogues.  Can you spot them?

Country Home | kelly kent

The embossing folder is a current Sale-A-Bration choices – available to earn until 31st March 2019. It’s so lovely in crisp white!  See all the Sale-A-Bration choices by clicking here.

Country Home | kelly kent

The stamp set is Country Home – a carryover item from the 2018 Holiday Catalogue. You can find all the carryover items by clicking here and viewing in the online store.

I’ve used Stampin’ Blends to colour the flowers & jug.  If you’re a Stampin’ Up! addict, you’ll know that there aren’t specific Blends in Pear Pizzazz and Berry Burst – so I’ve just used the closest in the range – Old Olive and Lovely Lipstick.

Country Home | kelly kent

The third ‘not in a catalogue’ item is the Stitched Seasons framelits. These were a special release item last year. The stitching is so lovely. Although retired, they are available via the online store on the clearance rack. This also means they are discounted – a fabulous bargain!!  Click here to see all the clearance rack items (all at up to 60% off retail).

Once I’d finished & photographed this card I realised how familiar it seemed to me.  Well, as it turns out, my vision for this stamp set is very one-track.  Click here to see a card I made last year with this set!!!

Thank you for joining us today for the Colour INKspiration hop.

To see more great projects, please keeping hopping and visit Rebecca Scurr and her fabulous card.

February – why are you leaving us so quick???

I know February is the shortest month of the year, but this one just zipped by me!  Things at Papercraft HQ went into serious overdrive – three kids to keep alive, three houses to look after, a birthday, some anniversaries, the start of school, resuming card making classes for the year and so much more meant every day was a whirlwind of activity!

With all that happening, it’s only in the final moment of February I’m marking some things off my to-do list – like posting birthday cards for friends!  They will arrive in March, but I posted them in February – so it still counts!!!

I’ve always appreciated having a birthday month, so hopefully the recipients will too!

Beauty Abounds | kelly kent

I made these cards using some Occasions Catalogue favourites and also a new DSP available as a Level 2 Sale-A-Bration reward.  See the second release catalogue by clicking here.  The Painted Seasons DSP comes in a bundle with a floral stamp set – available to redeem when your order reaches $180.

Beauty Abounds | kelly kent

I like to make multiples of cards with subtle differences.  Easy changes – like a different size butterfly in this case – give you a different card for minimal design effort.  Other easy changes are – changing the orientation or using different colours or DSP.

The second card used the same die set, but the large butterfly as the centrepiece.

Beauty Abounds | kelly kent

Both cards have the same bokeh dots in Poppy Parade, Grapefruit Grove & Blushing Bride (to coordinate with the DSP) on a Rectangle Label (of course!), a Stitched Label die cut and a heat embossed sentiment.  The sentiment is cut down from the ‘FRIENDSHIP’ stamp in the Beauty Abounds set.  I always love it if I can get multiple uses from the words in a set.

Beauty Abounds | kelly kent

And those dots – I’m still in love!  I originally bought the Beauty Abounds stamp set just for the dots.  And I have no regrets!

Beauty Abounds | kelly kent

The stamp set also has a lovely flourish that I thought would look nice on the inside of the card.  Seems to be the month for extra decorating!  I love colouring with my Stampin’ Blends – they are so smooth and luxurious!

Beauty Abounds | kelly kent

Here’s hoping that March is a little slower in pace but just as full of love, happiness and fun!

CASEing the Catty #216 | Sale-A-Bration

Hi there!  How was your weekend?  I seem to always start these posts by telling you what kind of weather we had over the weekend.  It’s summer here in Australia so it should be scorching hot – and it some parts of the country it is.  But right now in Bunbury, we’re averaging a maximum of 30 during the day and an overnight minimum of 15 degrees (that’s in celsius).  It’s glorious!  Sunny days as far as I can see!!!

The downside to such lovely weather is less time spent indoors, so I’m pulling together craft projects when I can find the time!  Sleep?  Who needs to be in bed before midnight???

The theme for CASEing the Catty this week has rolled back around to Sale-A-Bration – which is handy because we’ve hit the half way mark and Stampin’ Up! have released some cute new products to earn!  You can view the second release brochure by clicking here.

No photo description available.

As a demonstrator, I was able to pre-order some of these amazing products during the first half of the month.  It’s lovely to be able to access #demoperks!!!  You can too if you join my Paper Adventures team!

My absolute hands-down, no-question favourite item from the second release is the Country Floral Embossing Folder.  It’s soooooooo pretty!  It’s often hard to see the full texture & detail of embossing folders in catalogues, so I hope you’ve got another $90 on your wishlist and you can redeem this gorgeous folder for yourself.

This is the card I chose to CASE from the second release Sale-A-Bration catalogue.

Initially when I looked at this I thought they’d embossed DSP and it was the DSP that had provided the colour.  When I couldn’t see this pattern in the DSP I realised they’d coloured all the individual elements of the embossed image – wow!!!

By this point though, I was kind of excited to emboss DSP.  Other than cutting it, I rarely tamper with DSP – it was time to change things up!!!

Country Floral Embossing | kelly kent

My DSP of choice for this card was another new Sale-A-Bration product – the DSP available in the Painted Seasons bundle (DSP + stamp set).  I ran it through the Big Shot with the Country Floral embossing folder and then rubbed a sponge dauber across the raised surfaces using Coastal Cabana ink.  It was very rough and I love the effect of the coloured embossed sections and the natural pattern of the DSP underneath.

Country Floral Embossing | kelly kent

I finished the card with the ‘amazing’ sentiment from the Incredible Like You stamp set, some Mint Macron Nature’s Twine (from the Annual Catalogue), White Flax Ribbon and a Butterfly Element coated in Frost White Shimmer Mist.

This card was so much fun, I decided to create another couple of colour combinations.

Here it is in Blushing Bride using Tropical Escape DSP…

Country Floral Embossing | kelly kent

And also in Rich Razzleberry using a pattern from the Tea Room DSP.  This one was a little more interesting as the butterflies on the DSP form part of the image!

Country Floral Embossing | kelly kent

By some crazy coincidence, the colours in the Nature’s Twine pack matched my DSP choices perfectly!  I’m just missing a Crumb Cake creation!!!

Country Floral Embossing | kelly kent

To place an order and select your FREE (with any $90+ order) Country Floral Embossing Folder, visit my online store.  It’s available until 31st March unless stocks run out earlier.

Stamp Review Crew | Sale-A-Bration 2019

We’re sneaking in a bonus hop this month so we can share some Sale-A-Bration projects with you.  Make yourself a cuppa, sit somewhere comfy and scroll through the gorgeous creations from this clever team of SU! Demonstrators from around the world.

We were able to choose any Sale-A-Bration 2019 stamp set, so you’re going to see lots of variety and a sneak peek into everyone’s craft room favourites.  These sets are all available for {FREE} when you spend a qualifying amount.  This varies in each region.  In Australia, level 1 sets (all except the Lasting Lily stamp set) are free with a $90 order.  Lasting Lily is a level 2 set and available with a $180 order.

I’m playing with the Lovely Lattice stamp set on page 15.

These are the gorgeous catalogue samples….

Lovely Lattice Images © Stampin' Up!

I wanted to use the flowers from this large centrepiece stamp in a different way – by stamping them at the corners.

Lovely Lattice | kelly kent

My first colour combination was a white base, Blushing Bride mat and Crumb Cake card front.  I added a white embossed sentiment from Itty Bitty Birthdays.

Lovely Lattice | kelly kent

Then I changed up the order of the colours to have a Crumb Cake base, Blushing Bride mat and Whisper White card front.  This is a really easy way to make cards in multiples without them all being the same.

Lovely Lattice | kelly kent

To add more texture to the cards (and because I’m totally obsessed with these framelits!), I cut & raised a Stitched Rectangle from the card front.  I really love how the framelits are designed to stitch on both the cut shape and the negative space.

Lovely Lattice | kelly kent

The wooden butterfly on each card are also a Sale-A-Bration item for 2019.  Each pack has 84 elements – butterflies, flowers, leaves and more butterflies!  They are the perfect finishing touch for pretty & sweet cards.

Lovely Lattice | kelly kent

I love these colours and can’t pick a favourite between the two designs!  Do you love one more than the other?

Next up on the hop is the gorgeous Charlet Mallett. Click on next to visit her Sale-A-Bration project.

Stamp Review Crew | Fabulous Flamingo

Hello!  Welcome to the first Stamp Review Crew hop for 2019!

Stamp Review Crew is an amazing twice a month blog hop that showcases a different stamp set each hop.  The hop takes you around to the world to visit talented Stampin’ Up! demonstrators.  You are currently with Kelly Kent in Bunbury – the South West of Australia.

Today’s featured stamp set is Fabulous Flamingo from the Annual Catalogue – I can’t wait for you to visit all the fantastic inspiration!

It was messy play time for me & the flamingo this week!  I had so much fun playing with some favourite techniques to make this cute pink card!  Flamingos are all about the pink!  Though, I have realised I find it hard to love Flirty Flamingo – it’s just not a favourite, even when I’m stamping flamingos!

Fabulous Flamingo | kelly kent

The first technique I used was no-line watercolouring to create the arty look for the flamingo.  I inked up the flamingo body outline in Sahara Sand, stamped off onto scrap then stamped onto Shimmery White.  I did the same with the legs (getting a little bit fussy and stamping each leg separately to get the cross over for a bit of fabulous attitude!).

Once I had the outline stamped (feintly) for the flamingo, I added colour with Watercolour Pencils.  Melon Mambo, Flirty Flamingo & Daffodil Delight for the body, Melon Mambo & Rich Razzleberry for the legs and Basic Black for the beak.  I use a pencil sharpener intended for eyeliner pencils which gives a nice sharp point that is perfect for this technique.  You’ll find all those coloured pencils in the Assortment 1 set available in the Annual Catalogue except Flirty Flamingo which I borrowed from the Lots of Happy card kit.

With colour applied I smudged it to create an arty watercolour colour effect – I love this style of painting and think it’s awesome we have the supplies with Stampin’ Up! to make something similar (even for non-arty people like me!).

Fabulous Flamingo | kelly kent

To add more texture to the flamingo I used a dripping wet Aqua Painter with ink (Flirty Flamingo then Melon Mambo) to create splatters by flicking the tip of the Aqua Painter against the lid.  Many thanks to Joanne for sharing this fun technique with us at a team meeting last year.

The flamingo panel is mounted on a piece of Lovely Lipstick Foil – I love the pretty shine of this Sale-A-Bration choice!  You can choose this as your Sale-A-Bration gift in Australia with a $90+ order.

The third technique for this card was using drops of reinker on a baby wipe (Flirty Flamingo & Melon Mambo) and using this as an ‘ink pad’ for the leaves I stamped on the card base.  I love the interesting colour variation this technique gives!

Fabulous Flamingo | kelly kent

The sentiment is from the Vertical Greetings stamp set.  And yes, those are the Stitched Rectangle Framelits again!  I just can’t get enough!!!

There’s something so fabulous and fun about stamping a flamingo!!!

Next up with her flamingo creation is the gorgeous Nikki Spencer – also in Australia!

CASEing the Catty #210 | Sale-A-Bration

Hello 2019!!!  After several years of using the same graphics, CASEing the Catty has had an update!!!  I love the new graphics – so bright & fresh!  Thanks to the crew members who contributed to the redesign!

A new year also bring us new CASEing the Catty crew members!!!  Welcome to the talented ladies who are joining us – Tina Gillespie, Lauren Meiklejohn, Michelle Strazds, Siobhan Fitzsimmons & Shannon Kissane.  All of these crafters have been regular contributors to CTC in 2018 and have been asked to join the design team.  Is joining a design team on your goals for 2019?  Make sure to participate in your favourite challenges on a regular basis as you never know when the design teams are on the lookout for more members!

Image may contain: text

We’re starting CTC for 2019 with a Sale-A-Bration hop.  There’s 19 pages of fabulous showing not only the great free products on offer until the end of March, but also Occasions & Annual Catalogue products they coordinate with.

I’ve chosen to case the layout & colours from the bag on page 6 and turn it into a card.

This layout is very versatile – an embossed background, central element and overlayed sentiment.  You could make it work for pretty much any set in the catalogue.

Needlepoint Nook CTC#210 | kelly kent

I’ve used the Needle & Thread bundle – primarily inspired by the sensational embossing die in the Needlepoint Elements Framelits.  I could use this on every card I make – it’s so pretty!

Needlepoint Nook CTC#210 | kelly kent

The detail in the stamps are amazing – just like they’ve been stitched!  I’ve used Crushed Curry, Calypso Coral and Crumb Cake to match the inspiration picture.

The ‘friend’ word is from a fabulous new bundle called Well Said.  It contains 51 cling stamps in the stamp set with various greetings and 24 dies containing staple words for papercrafting.  It’s an investment – but worth it with all the use you’ll get from this set.

Needlepoint Nook CTC#210 | kelly kent

It’s great to be back creating for challenges.  They are always such a source of inspiration for me.  I’m most inspired with a purpose and some direction – I suffer from severe lack of motivation without a specific card or task in mind!

To join in with this week’s CASEing the Catty challenge, click on the link below to visit our Facebook group.

There’s more fabulous inspiration on the hop.  Next stop is one of our talented new crew members – Michelle Strazds.

Thanks for joining us!

ESAD Blog Hop | Occasions & SAB 2019

I’m so excited for today’s hop with my ESAD friends – it’s a huge hop filled with Occasions and Sale-A-Bration inspiration!!!

Thanks to Lou Kitzelman for her stellar organisation that makes these hops happen.  Everyone hopping today is part of a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator only group called ESAD.

Image may contain: text that says 'What is ESAD? ESAD stands for "Extra Special Australasian Demonstrators" and is Facebook group just for Australian and New Zealand Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrators. We love what we do and love to share with our customers, friends and blog visitors. We also share what we love in our ESAD Demonstrator community through swaps, challenges, and sharing knowledge, ideas and friendship. We are always there to help and support each other. If you are Stampin' Up! Demonstrator located in Australia or New Zealand and would like more information on joining our group, please contact me via this blog.'

For my projects today, I have focused on Sale-A-Bration products – because.. who doesn’t love FREE!  The winners of Sale-A-Bration 2019 for me is the embellishments – pretty paper, cool wood elements and fantastic ribbon are sure to lift all your 2019 projects.

Check out this stunning DSP with full colour butterfly prints on one side and black and white prints on the other side.

This DSP was the starting point for the projects I’m sharing today – desk calendars.  I’ve added in a couple of new Occasions products too!

Butterfly Desk Calendar | kelly kent

The calendars both use the Botanical Butterfly DSP, Butterfly Elements and Organdy Ribbon.  These are all items you can choose for free when you order $90+ on your favourite Stampin’ Up! products.

Note: I’m in Australia, the SAB ordering requirement may be different in other regions.

I made the first desk calendar in Highland Heather to coordinate with the DSP and set butterflies set on a quaint tea cup.

Butterfly Desk Calendar | kelly kent

You’ll find the tea cup in the Occasions Catalogue – a beautiful new set called Tea Together.  I stamped it twice – once on Whisper White and once on the Botanical Butterfly DSP.  Using paper snips, I cut around the cup, handle and part of the saucer (this technique is called paper piecing and is best for the crafter who doesn’t mind a little bit of fussy cutting!).

The main cup shape – on Whisper White is cut using another Sale-A-Bration choice.  The coordinating framelits are available as a level 2 Sale-A-Bration item.  You can select the Tea Time Framelits when you spend $180+.

Butterfly Desk Calendar | kelly kent

The second desk calendar has a Balmy Blue colour scheme – don’t you love all the colours Stampin’ Up! brought us in the 2018 colour refresh!!

Butterfly Desk Calendar | kelly kent

I just love that crazy butterfly DSP with a vellum overlay!  And the pretty ribbon adds a fantastic touch to projects.   The SAB combo pack has 23m of ribbon (4.6m x 5 colours!) – what a great choice for a free item.

The itty bitty butterflies in the middle of each of the wood elements are cut from the DSP using the Butterfly Duet punch.  It punches so many of the butterflies from the Botanical Butterfly DSP…. so you’ll want to make sure the punch is part of your $90 order if you’re choosing the DSP as your free SAB option!

Butterfly Desk Calendar | kelly kent

Want to make your own 2019 desk calendars?  I followed my instructions from 2015!  See the original post here.

Instructions:

  1. Cut a piece of A4 (Australian size) cardstock in half (it’ll be 4-1/8″ x 11-11/16ish”)
  2. Score at 5″, 10″, 10-3/4″, 11-1/2″
  3. Fold cardstock into a triangle shape, with a mountain fold underneath.  Adhere the little flap to the inside of the triangle.
  4. Calendar front – Mat 1: 3-7/8″ x 4-3/4″; Mat 2 (DSP): 3-5/10″ x 4-1/2″

Butterfly Desk Calendar | kelly kent
