I love my Mum – more and more everyday. And although I couldn’t write down all the things I love about her in one C6 card, I will try to do just that by the 11th May. In the quest to create the perfect card for my special message, I have designed an assortment of Mother’s Day cards – perfect for my Mum or yours – that I will share with you this week. If past history is anything to go by, I’ll be making my own Mother’s Day card too!!!
Since today is the final day of Sale-A-Bration for 2014, I will start with this card. It uses the beautiful Petal Parade SAB Stamp Set & Sweet Sorbet SAB DSP. If you don’t think you’ll be able to go on crafting without these in your stash, then contact your SU! demo today to place an order and get one item free for every $90 spent. Or click here to go shopping on my online store. For all those WA people, don’t forget SAB will finish at 9pm tonight (SU!’s base is in NSW & they are currently enjoying daylight savings with a 3 hour time difference). Don’t get caught out. You’re welcome! Kelly x

In your 20s you attend lots of engagement parties and weddings as your friends find love, shack up and get married (usually in that order, in my experience). In your 30s, it’s baby season. Two of my lovely friends have had babies in the last couple of weeks and here are the cards I made for them. I used the same basic layout for both, but different colours – blues for baby Jack and pinks/yellow for baby Lucy. Kelly x

If you’ve been following my blog over the last few days, you will have seen Grandma’s birthday present take shape – all Wetlands themed. All up, her gift consists of a “Tea & Yums“, Handcrafted Card Set & Notecard Set. The finishing touch is a birthday card (of course!).
I used the Label Card Thinlits Die to create a mock easel card. But lying it on it’s side, the card stands up in a triangle formation, much like an easel card. The thinlits die does all the hard work for you, cutting and scoring in all the right places. I stamped the front side with the Hardwood Background stamp, added the duck from the Wetlands stamp set into the label ‘flip’ section of card and then embellished using stamps from the “You’re Lovely” Sale-A-Bration stamp set and “happy Birthday wishes” from Petite Pairs.
On the reverse side, I cut cardstock to fit the large panel and stamped the wading birds in the corner. This is where I wrote my birthday message for Grandma. To finish it off, I added the reeds to the top panel, around the duck. I think it looks ‘just lovely’ and makes a change from the standard C6 card. Plus, it’s perfect for Grandma, because I know she’ll display it on her sideboard, so as well as being a birthday card, it’s also a temporary art work (aren’t all handmade cards!). Happy Birthday Grandma – Love Kelly x
It’s the weekend!!! When you’re a SAHM (Stay-At-Home-Mummy), this doesn’t mean too much different than a weekday, but I do have fond memories of finishing work on a Friday afternoon knowing that you’d have some time on the weekend to kick back and enjoy something of your choosing. So, today and tomorrow I’m offering you two tutorials to inspire you to make your ‘downtime’ craft time.
Today’s project is a Tag Closure Card. I’ve seen lots of these floating around Pinterest and this is inspired by some of these, but I wanted to make the tag closure section a little easier. Rather than trimming down the card front, I have added the tag closure as a strip around the card.
- Cut a piece of Coastal Cabana cardstock – 514 x 514. Score at 112. This is your card base.
- Cut a strip of Coastal Cabana cardstock – 20 x 84. Score at 18 & 510. This is your tag closure.
- Using the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch, punch each end of the strip so you end up with scalloped ends.
- Adhere the tag closure strip around the middle of the card base so that the smaller section is at the right of the card and the biggest section is along the back and it folds around to overhang the flap on the left of the card base.
- Cut two pieces of Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock – one 18 x 510 & one 313 x 510.
- Cut Sweet Sorbet DSP – 14 x 56.
- Cut Whisper White cardstock – 39 x 56.
- Adhere the matching sizes together than add the skinny piece to the front panel of the card (over the top of your tag closure) and the large piece to the inside.
- Embellish as desired. I’ve used ‘happy big day’ from the Chalk Talk bundle in Pistachio Pudding and tied it together using the Summer Starfruit twine, which is one of the free Sale-A-Bration gifts (available until 31st March).
Obviously with the design as it is, once you write on the card, you’ll see that, even with the card tied closed. I don’t mind this at all, as I can just imagine it sitting on display in someone’s house, open and standing up, with the message visible as part of the card’s appeal. But, if you prefer, you could add stamps and embellishments to the inside section of the card and add another piece of Whisper White cardstock to the reverse side of the card for your message.
Hope you get a chance to make one of these this weekend. If you’d like to book a workshop for you and your friends, to learn how to make amazing cards like this one, let me know. I come to you and bring everything we need. Now that sounds like a good way to spend some of the weekend! Kelly x
Almost every card I make has an element that has been run through the Big Shot. I love my Big Shot and it’s well used. It has more accessories than I do! This card is a perfect example of how you can make a cute card in no time at all but using the Big Shot to it’s full potential. And using all those free gifts you can earn during Sale-A-Bration – ends 31st March 2014. I also love that it doesn’t have a sentiment on it. It’s always good to have a few cards on hand that you can use at the last minute for a birthday, thank you or ‘just because’. Kelly x

I saw cards on Pinterest using the Hexagon Hive Thinlits Die with beautiful DSP as a backing and I knew I had to add this beautiful card to my workshop. And what better DSP to show off than the new (gorgeous) Watercolour Wonder DSP. To give my guests some variety and the option of choosing their favourite colour combo, I did a version with blue tones and a version with pink tones. Until I made both cards, I thought the pink would be my favourite. But, the blue looks stunning, so now, like the fair Stampin’ Mummy I am, I have decided I love them both equally. Add in the Petite Petals bundle and You’re Lovely Stamp set, and you end up with a show-stopper of a card. I’d be happy if someone sent me this card! Kelly x

Well, today it’s a very happy 3rd birthday to my big girl – Alexa. This light our life was born on our 2nd wedding anniversary – what a gift!
Last night at the craft table left me feeling like the plumber with the leaky taps! In a run of birthday parties at playgroup and a heap of card orders for paying customers, I’ve been a tad time poor. Add in two parties for the big girl and it was a late night, last minute effort to make her birthday card. She doesn’t know it yet, but she’s getting a Lalaloopsy cubby house as her main present. So, in true coordinating fashion, her birthday card is a Lalaloopsy creation. This would be a perfect card for making hair using the new fringe scissors from the Occasions catalogue. I was excited to break out my Word Bubbles Framelits for the greeting, which perfectly framed the “Happy Birthday” sentiment from the Sassy Salutations stamp set. I also used the Sale-A-Bration banner punch to add that personal touch.
So, wishing our special girl a wonderful birthday and every happiness in her year as a 3 year old! Kelly x
I love giving sets of tags to friends and family. Sometimes a card is too much for the present you want to give, but a tag is just perfect. Using just one amazing product from the Occasions Catalogue, plus two of my Sale-A-Bration (SAB) freebies and a couple of standard items in my collection, I made 6 beautiful tags in just 6 minutes.
You will need the new Scalloped Tag Topper Punch, a sheet of A4 cardstock, ink of your choice, the arrow stamp from the Petal Parade SAB stamp set (or stamp of your choice) and the twine from the Sweet Sorbet SAB accessory pack. Cut your cardstock into 2″ strips along the short edge. You will get 5 strips from a piece of A4 cardstock. Cut the strips into 3 pieces, each measuring 2 3/4″. You will now have 15 pieces of card. Use 6 for this project, and put aside the other 9 for more tags in the future. [Or you can make up all 15 tags now!] Take a piece of card and place one end into the slot on the tag punch. Punch the scalloped top on all 6 pieces of card. Round the bottom 2 corners using the reverse punch on the Envelope Punch Board. Stamp the arrow in lovely colours at the bottom and then attach twine to the top. Voila! 6 tags in no time at all. Try this with other sizes, stamps, colours and embellishments to create a never ending supply of tags. To buy the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch, click here. Add some other goodies to your order and claim your choice of a free Sale-A-Bration product. Kelly x
