Love You to Pieces Clear-Mount Bundle by Stampin' Up!

I love the versatility of this set.  It makes great cards of love, support and gratitude, but is also fantastic for card ideas for the younger generation.  Both young and old love puzzles in our house.  We’d have an isolation puzzle on the go at the moment, but Little Master Papercraft is just the perfect height to sweep his little hand over the table top and drop all the pieces on the floor.  So, for the moment, the only puzzles I am seeing are on cards!

Being in isolation was the driving force of the theme for the cards I am sharing today.  The Little Miss Papercrafts are showing incredible maturity and resilience in the face of many life changes at the moment.  They are no longer going to school, they can’t play with their friends and all their after school activities have been cancelled.  Instead we are completing school work through an online portal, playing at home with only each other for company and taking the time to do other activities such as craft and baking.

On the weekend we baked chocolate brownies to share with our friends – with stealth ninja contactless delivery. The kids loved the chance to get out for a drive and surprise their friends with treats.

Gifts are always better with a handmade card, so in the bag with the sugary treats, I popped a puzzle card for them to complete using a photo of their friends as the puzzle picture.

The sentiment seems appropriate at the moment.  They are missing their friends and desperately wish they could all hang out again soon.  Soon they will, but until then we are embracing different ways of communicating.

The puzzle pieces are in the 3″ x 3″ Envelope which has been attached to the card using removable tape.

The frame on the front of the card is the same size as the completed puzzle, so can be used to hold the puzzle in place.  I’ve used Foam Adhesive Strips under the frame layer to give it some structure.

I didn’t leave any instructions (kids have a much better imagination than adults!) – I know they’ll work it out.   They could glue it in place and put the card on display, or they could pack it away to do again another time.

With the puzzle as the centrepiece of the simple card front, I also decorated the inside to elaborate on the theme.

I added in “miss you” from the Well Said stamp set.

Have you ever heard the saying blue & green should never be seen?  I really like it together for kids cards.  There’s something great about how basic the colours are.  This combination is Night of Navy, Blueberry Bushel & Granny Apple Green.

Using a photo (or printed copy of a photo) is a great day to add a truly personal touch to a card.  It’s an activity and a memory all in one!

Next blog to visit today is the lovely Linda Callahan in the USA.

So great to have you visit today.  I hope your week is less of a puzzle and more of finished masterpiece.

Enjoy the Little Things Video In Life Video Blog Hop | June – Guest Designer

Hello!  It’s an early blog post today as I have the great pleasure of joining the Enjoy the Little Things in Life Design Team for their June video blog hop.

I’ve been doing a few videos lately as part of my Stamp In Confidence program (read about that here), but it’s still not natural for me to be organised enough to craft and video at the same time!!!

But life is all about challenges and extending ourselves, so I was delighted to say yes to a guest designer role with the Enjoy the Little Things DT.

The theme for this hop is 3D.  The design team has come up with some lovely creations, complete with tutorial videos to help you make your own versions.

I’m so much of a card girl, and don’t often make boxes, bags or other 3D items.

So, for today’s project, I’m combining the two – a card that features an interactive 3D component.

One of the new bundles in the 2018-2019 Annual Catalogue is the Love You to PIeces stamp set and coordinating Puzzle Pieces Thinlits.  Such a fun way to create cards for big & little people!

I’ve created a double layer frame for the puzzle to sit in, so once the puzzle is together, it fits snugly onto the card front and looks like it’s part of the card.

But, the pieces can be taken out, mixed up and put back together just like a regular puzzle.

I’ve used the new embossing mat with the puzzle thinlit to create the background outline to guide the puzzle doer.

There’s so many pretty DSP patterns in the new catalogue that are perfect for this style of card.  This design is Petal Promenade – beautiful photography patterns of flowers on the main side & marble on the reverse.
