Piece by Piece – Thermomix Punch Art Tutorial

My apologies for the infrequent posts of late.  Things have been C-R-A-Z-Y!!!  But I’m hoping to get back on track with regular posts & projects very soon, starting with one of the things that’s been keeping me busy.  Do you remember the Punch Art Thermomix card I made?

Well, it got such rave reviews, I’ve made a picture tutorial so you can make your own.  If you’re not crafty, but would like a Thermomix card,  please contact me to place an order.  Kelly x

There’s No Such Thing as a Gruffalo

Have you heard of the Gruffalo?  Unless you’ve got small children, you may not have come across this fabulous book written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler.  It’s a clever tale of a mouse and his walk through the woods.  And in our house, a favourite tale we read often.  So, I decided to make the beast and all his ‘terrible’ parts into a punch art card.  He was a bit of a challenge – I always find brown a bit awkward – but the resemblance is definitely there.  [It passed a recognition test with my avid little reader!!!]  Here’s the tutorial if you’d like to make one for a bookworm you know.    But shhhhhhhhh, there’s no such thing as a Gruffalo!  Kelly x

End of Term Thankyou Cards – Boogie Roos

If I had to choose a favourite term-time activity, it would be “Boogie Roos“.  It’s an opportunity for the little ones to participate in lots of wiggling, shaking, jumping, spinning & dancing.  If you’re in Bunbury, I highly recommend you try a session.  They also have sessions in the Wheatbelt – so if you happen to be near Kulin, Corrigin or Wandering – turn up to a Boogie Roos session.  I believe franchise opportunities also exist, so if you’d like in on the action, get in touch with them.

The final thank you for Term 1 goes to Kelly from the Bunbury branch of Boogie Roos.  As a backstory to this card – every Boogie Roos session features a beautiful puppet during the welcome segment.  A couple of years ago, Sandra (Wheatbelt Boogie Roos) asked me to create a punch art card for each of the puppets (8 in total).  She was living in Bunbury at the time and ran the Boogie Roos sessions here.  Sadly (because she’s a dynamo of a lady with more sparkle and spirit than most), she left us for a ‘wheat’ change.  Kelly was a fabulous replacement, but I realised that because she came onto the scene after the Boogie Roos box set of cards, she doesn’t own any.  So, I have recreated “Rainbow” for her as a thankyou.  And with many more terms of Boogie Roos ahead of us, I hope to add to her collection over the years.  Kelly x

End of Term Thankyou Cards – Swimming

During the term we are busy little Vegemites, so the next thankyou card in the series is for Alexa’s swimming teacher.  This term of swimming certainly made the teacher work for her money – three kids in the class, each at a very different swimming level.  She did a great job once she got to know all of them and we wanted to say thank you!  Another punch art card – a little girl with goggles, blowing lots of bubbles.  So cute, just like my little water baby!  Kelly x

End of Term Thankyou Cards – Day Care

Well, today is the in the final day of term one and whilst my biggest isn’t officially at kindy, she does a ‘kindy program’ at her day care.  One of the most frequent activities this term has been hairdressing.  I’m generally not allowed to do her hair on day care mornings – and if I do, by the time I pick her up, it’s re-done.  The lovely carers at day care are also great hairdressers, so it’s win-win situation.  To thank them for their over & above dedication to my little miss and to support the hair salon in term two, I have put together a few supplies for them including clips, retired Stampin’ Up! ribbons, glitter spray & a handheld mirror (with a customised Glimmer Paper message on the back).  And this is the card I made to go with it – I do love my punch art!  Kelly x

Minion Flip Card

Minions are everywhere!!!  I’m not sure whether it’s the Pharrell William’s “Happy” song, but minions are definitely all the rage at the moment.  There are lots of ways to make minions – circles, ovals, owl punch, card front …  But the one I like the best is inspired by Linda Higgin’s clever use of the Circle Flip Thinlit Die.  I wanted to try it out.  And then I wanted to share it with you so the papercraft world can be filled with minions!!!  Kelly x20140322-213244.jpgSupplies:

Ooopsie – just in time Lalaloopsy!

Well, today it’s a very happy 3rd birthday to my big girl – Alexa.  This light our life was born on our 2nd wedding anniversary – what a gift!

Last night at the craft table left me feeling like the plumber with the leaky taps!  In a run of birthday parties at playgroup and a heap of card orders for paying customers, I’ve been a tad time poor.  Add in two parties for the big girl and it was a late night, last minute effort to make her birthday card.  She doesn’t know it yet, but she’s getting a Lalaloopsy cubby house as her main present.  So, in true coordinating fashion, her birthday card is a Lalaloopsy creation.  This would be a perfect card for making hair using the new fringe scissors from the Occasions catalogue.  I was excited to break out my Word Bubbles Framelits for the greeting, which perfectly framed the “Happy Birthday” sentiment from the Sassy Salutations stamp set.  I also used the Sale-A-Bration banner punch to add that personal touch.

So, wishing our special girl a wonderful birthday and every happiness in her year as a 3 year old!  Kelly xlalaloopsy WM close Lalaloopsy WM Lalaloopsy WM presents
