Welcome Rococo Rose!

I posted Clear Case Inserts for the 2019-2021 In Color range on Saturday and I asked you which In Color was your instant favourite and if you could guess mine.

Hands down, without hesitation, my favourite is Rococo Rose.  I have been asking for a colour in this tone for ….. well, ever!  Ever since I started using Stampin’ Up!  I’m so excited to welcome Rococo Rose and it’s 4 new friends to the range.

If you missed the post for the Clear Case Inserts, you can find it by clicking here.  The full range of Clear Case Inserts is available by clicking here.

With a fresh pack of Rococo Rose in my hot little hands, it was the perfect choice for a custom 50th birthday card I was asked to make.  The brief was ‘pink’.  Rococo Rose is such an elegant pink!

I revisited a favourite card style of mine – making an updated version of a Pop Up Slider Card I shared in 2016 using the Jar of Love stamp set & dies.  Sadly, this duo retires very soon.  I’ve kept the jar, but added in some new products from my 2019-2020 Annual Catalogue preorder.  I love this time of the year where I can mix the old & the new to create fun projects!

I’ve used white heat embossing to stamp the mason jar on Rococo Rose cardstock and then cut it using the Everyday Jar dies.  Although retiring, I love mason jars as a card theme and plan to keep these to continue creating.  There’s no better vase on a card than a gorgeous jar!

The jar is filled with pretty magnolias – stamped on Shimmery White cardstock in Basic Gray and lightly washed over with Rococo Rose ink.  The magnolias are from a new stamp set called Good Morning Magnolia and has coordinating dies to cut those pretty flowers.

The leaves are from the Wonderful Floral die set (Occasions 2019) in Champagne Foil.  These dies are on Last Chance Retirement List and available until 3rd June 2019 – unless sold out earlier.

A lashing of Whisper White Bakers Twine finishes off my jar of flowers – which I have mounted on a layer of Whisper White embossed with the Subtle Embossing Folder.  Thankfully, the Subtle folder is on the carryover list and we’ll be enjoying it for at least another year.

This style of pop up card is one of my favourite fancy folds – simple to make but amazing to receive.  You can find the measurements here.

I’ve decorated the middle and the slider part of the card.  The slider has more magnolias (stamped in Rococo Rose) and the ‘enjoy your special day’ sentiment from the Stitched All Around stamp set.

I’ve added ’50’ in Champagne Foil to the middle of the card (revealed when the slider part of the card is pulled).  The Large Numbers retired with the 2018-2019 Annual Catalogue (last year) but I’ve been using them ever since.  Retired Stampin’ Up! still holds enormous value.  Retired simply means you can no longer buy it – it doesn’t mean you can’t love & use it for eternity!  Some items are meant to be craft room staples.  This catalogue transition sees the Large Letters retiring.  See my post about that by clicking here.

This catalogue has a revamp of the DSP patterns available – including new designs for the In Color & Colour Collection DSP stacks.  They are sooooo beautiful!  Mosaic, words, gingham & diamonds.  That’s right…. gingham in every colour!

Want to own ALL the DSP???  Check back tomorrow for details of my DSP Share available for pre-order for Australian customers (demonstrators also welcome!).  DSP shares are a great way to own every DSP pattern at a fraction of the cost.

I think my second most favourite new In Color is Pretty Peacock.  I’ll have to get inky with that next!

Paper Adventures Team Blog Hop | Baby & Kids

Paper Adventures - Blog Hop Header

Hello & thanks for joining us for the August Paper Adventures team hop.

The theme tonight is Babies & Kids and our fabulous guest designer is Rochelle Blok.

Babies and kids seemed like an obvious theme for a hop this year with so many of our team having babies & children, nieces & nephews or being amazing grandparents.

I often own most of this section of the catalogue and always love seeing the new sets available with each launch.  One of the fun new additions to the 2018-2019 Annual Catalogue is the Treehouse Adventures stamp set.

You have all the piece you need in this set to create a super cute treehouse -in whatever colours you like.  The builder stamps are designed to ink up in separate colours, making it easy to put your treehouse together.

I’ve mounted my treehouse on one of my favourite fancy fold designs – a Pop Up Slider card.

The middle panel slides up…

And down again…

So it goes flat into an envelope for giving or posting, but is still super fun for the recipient.  It’s always great to add an element of fun into kids cards!

The colours for my treehouse are Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie & Real Red with Early Espresso accents.

The tree is Old Olive & Pear Pizzazz with a Crumb Cake trunk.

The DSP is from the Share What You Love suite – sometimes the reverse side of DSP designs are just perfect for something different from the usual suite.

I just love making this style of card – and they really aren’t as hard as they look!  It’s all about the sizing, which you can find on my blog – click here to visit.

Beautiful Birthday Wishes – Pop Up Slider Card

I got many beautiful birthday wishes this year including some lovely handmade creations.  One of these was from a fellow demo & friend – Nicole Wilson – who made me a pop up slider card.  It was awesome, and as much as I loved it, I confess to taking it apart to see just how it was made!

And since then I’ve been making lots of pop up slider cards for special occasions.

It didn’t surprise me when a Google search for ‘pop up slider card’ revealed that the original designer was Dawn Griffith!  I love her work.  You can find her video tutorial here.

So, I’ve made lots of these over the past few months, but this particular version was made for a special friend – and it included so many of my favourite new Stampin’ Up! products.

There’s Sweet Sugarplum (favourite colour), Jar of Love bundle (one of my favourite bundles) and Blooms & Bliss DSP (def in my top 3 DSP choices!).

As usual, I tweaked the measurements to make the most of the DSP & Australian cardstock sizes.  So, my finished card front measured 4″ x 5-7/8″.

This meant that I had to make slight adjustments to the other pieces so it all lined up.  Good thing I like maths & numbers!

My adjusted pieces were:

  • Front (DSP) 4″ x 5-7/8″
  • Back 4″ x 5-7/8″
  • Scoring/cutting for the front panel 3/4″ from each edge
  • Scoring of DSP (middle panel): 1-1/4″, 3-3/16″ from bottom edge
  • Pull up piece (that sits in the middle of the card) 5-1/16″ x 3-1/16″
  • Pop up piece (that sits on the middle front panel) 2-1/2″ x 3-13/16″

Note: some of the measurements are slightly wacky – I think this is due to “loss” that sometimes happens when scoring & cutting.  If you follow the above measurements, it all works out in the end.  Alternatively, you might like to visit Dawn’s video tutorial to take down the measurements she uses.

There’s something about this card that just tickles my fancy.  I think it’s the combination between the colours, the style and the overall sweetness that makes it one of my most favourite cards (ever) to come from my craft table.

Thanks to Nicole for a fabulous birthday gift, to Dawn for her generous sharing of her ideas & designs and to Stampin’ Up! for putting together such an amazing line up of products for 2016.  Feeling the love tonight!  Kelly x
