Super Zac – Fighting Tiger!

The card I’m sharing with you today is special – it was sent to a little man who is currently going through chemo for leukemia.

His Nanny is one of my stamping friends and has been one of his biggest supporters.

Having girls about the same age, these stories always have a personal touch – even though I’ve never met Zac.

So, when Lynne told us of the fight little Zac was going through, I knew a personalised card would add a bright touch to a difficult period.

He’s been described as a fighting tiger – and he’s a super hero in my eyes, so I made a super tiger card just for him.

Fighting Tiger - Super Zac! Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

The tiger was inspired by the one Dawn Tidd made for a Stamp Review Crew post.

Fighting Tiger - Super Zac! Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

Personalised cards are my favourite type!  The joy of being able to create something special for someone special – knowing you couldn’t buy it at the shops, even if you tried!!!

Good luck with your fight Zac!  You’re not just Zac, you’re Super Zac – Fighting Tiger!!!

Cool & Cute Shaker Cards

Hello Saturday!  I’m in total awe of the weekends now that our weeks are so busy!

It’s a time to sleep in, catch up with friends and, when the weather is good, find some sun!

This weekend we have a 4th birthday party to attend, so I’ve been playing around with some girly shaker cards.

The first version is yesterday’s class card using the Cool Treats bundle.

Cool Treats Shaker Card. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

How cute are the Sprinkles Embellishments???

The second version was inspired by the awesome unicorn card that Jenni from paulinespapier made.

I just loved the cute unicorn & couldn’t wait to add one to a card of mine!

Cute Unicorn Shaker Card. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

The Sprinkles not only make for good shaker material – but also as a unicorn crown!

This is one of my favourite little sayings!

I hope you have a fabulous weekend with perfect weather & filled with the perfect mix of weekend magic!

Stamp Review Crew – Playful Pals

playful-pals-banner

Hello Monday!

Today is going to be heaps of fun at Stamp Review Crew as we find our inner child!

Join me & my international Stampin’ Up! demonstrator friends as we share our projects inspired by the Plaufyl Pals stamp set.

This set comes with a set of coordinating framelits and lends itself to all kinds of weird & wonderful creations!

Look at all those pieces!!!

I went down the punch art route for my cards today.

This set is great for building animals, like this cute bear.

I’ve paired it with one of the sweet sayings from the Suite Sentiments stamp set in the Occasions catalogue, for a just because card. Do you ever send cards for no particular reason?

Stamp Review Crew - Playful Pals. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

My other creation was a cute little piggie. It was fun to add bodies & not just have animal heads.

With another “Suite Sentiment” to finish the card!

Stamp Review Crew - Playful Pals. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

I thought I’d be able to share my instructions for these creations easily, but I don’t even know how to name half the pieces in this set!!!

Here’s my best attempt…

Stamp Sets Used

Celebrate with a Playful Pals Lego Man!

Let’s celebrate – it’s another great (and simple) use for the Playful Pals stamp set.  This set is great for kids creations, so when I wanted to make a Lego head for a custom birthday card, I thought I’d try it out!

I love how simple it is to create because all the pieces are ready to go. Eyes – check!  Smile – check!  Head – check!  And even a block to make him look like a Lego head!

Playful Pals Lego Man. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

I love using letter stamps to add personalised touches – especially for kids that will never have their name on any stationary in the newsagency.

Did you have a name like that?  I did ok as a child – Kelly was a very popular name in the 80s!  Not so much so now – I don’t think I’ve come across a young child called Kelly.

Quinn’s birthday present is a bag full of Lego men.  My girls love Lego, but I have discovered it is incredibly difficult to buy individual Lego people for free play.  You can get themed ones in sets, but not a handful of random men.  That is, until I found a top-secret supplier!  I really hope Quinn’s Lego collection enjoys an influx of 20 new Lego friends!

Now, how to wrap 20 oddly shaped Lego men?  My answer for any difficult to wrap present is always a gift bag.

The Petite Cafe Gift Bags are one of the hidden gems of the Annual Catalogue.  You’ll find them on page 151 along with other great packaging ideas.

The Cafe bags are super cute to style & add your own personal (Lego) touch!

Playful Pals Lego Man card & Petite Cafe Gift Bag. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

If you didn’t want to fill your bag full of Lego men, you could put lots of other things inside.  They are approx 8.9 x 6.4 x 20.3cm and totally safe for holding food.

Happy birthday Quinn – looking forward to celebrating with you!  Kelly & the little misses x

Pyramid Pals Easter Bunnies

Today is Good Friday, which for us means no school, no work & no appointments!  We are spending the day in our pjs doing things that make us happy – like playing games, eating yummy food & doing some craft.

Just in case you’re also having a ‘good’ Friday and have some time at the craft table for some last minute Easter crafting, I wanted to share these cute little bunnies with you I made for Easter teacher gifts this year.

They are made using the Pyramid Pals Thinlits dies and Playful Pals stamp set.

Pyramid Pals Easter Bunnies. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

So cute!!!  But super tiny – this surprised me a little.  Although I’ve been using this bundle lots, I hadn’t made a pyramid creation yet.

They meausre at approx 7cm tall and 6cm (square) across the bottom.  I was able to squeeze a mini Lindt bunny and 3 little Lindt eggs in, but that was all!  Which was actually the perfect amount for this project.

The good news about them being so small, is I was able to get all the pieces from half an A4 piece of cardstock (including the ears & bow).  This makes them very economical to make.  And with the pyramid thinlit die doing all the hard work for you, putting them together is a breeze as well – just line up the tabs with adhesive as needed.

{Don’t forget to add some ribbon before the final stick if you want a little handle}

Pyramid Pals Easter Bunnies. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

How cute is the honeycomb embellishment as a little tail?  They come in white, blue & pink – which makes them perfect for every bunny!

Pyramid Pals Easter Bunnies. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

The tags were made using the “Happy Easter” from the Easter Lamb stamp – I’m a sucker for a good font – cut out with one of my favourite punches, the Washi Label.

These Pyramid Pals Easter Bunnies went down a treat with the teachers!  I wonder if they’ve eaten all their chococlates yet???

Happy Easter to everyone – hope your weekend is lovely! Kelly x

Playful Pals – Minion

Today is another birthday party for the Littlest Miss – it’s mighty hard to keep up with their social lives!!!

The party theme is Minions – so I had to pull another Minion card out of the bag.  You can see all the previous Minion creations here.

If you’re a regular blog visitor or subscriber (thank you!!!), you know my current favourite product is the Playful Pals stamp set & matching framelits from the Occasions catalogue.

It seems like you can pretty much make anything from those pieces… including a Minion!

Playful Pals - Minion. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

I had such fun making this card for Will’s second birthday.

The background clouds are a piece of DSP from the Shine On Speciality pack.  It’s a heavy cardstock weight, so as well as using it like you would a normal DSP, you can also use it as a card base.  How very luxurious!

Playful Pals - Minion Birthday card using Shine On Speciality DSP, Balloon Builder stamp set, Balloon Bouquet punch. Large Numbers framelits & Hello SAB stamp set. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

Want to make your own Playful Minion?

Here’s the breakdown…

Body – large solid oval piece stamped in Daffodil Delight

Arms – large solid oval piece stamped in Daffodil Delight then punched out using the Owl Builder punch.  Then trimmed from feet upwards into arm shape.

Overalls – large solid oval piece stamped in Pacific Point then trimmed in to overall shape

Overall Pocket – small solid semi-circle stamped in Pacific Point then outlined in Basic Grey marker

Feet – small solid triangle (ish) piece stamped in Basic Black

Playful St Patrick’s Day 2016!

Happy St Patrick’s Day!

Although there won’t be any formal celebrations of this lucky day at Team Papercraft HQ, I wanted to make a card for a fabulous Irish lady I work with.  Unofficially, she’s the events coordinator for the office.  She decorates the staff room for major celerations – usually with themed chocolates, which makes her very popular!

I love the fun she brings to my working life, so I’ve made a little card to pop on her desk to wish her a wonderful day and say thank you for being awesome.

I’m a bit of a theme creator myself – but by favourite product.  And at the moment it’s the Playful Pals stamp set (have you noticed?).

It’s perfect for building cute little characters – like this cheeky little leprechaun.

Happy St Patrick's Day 2016 - Playful Pals Leprechaun & Balloon Builders Clover. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

You can make your own leprechaun too…

Happy St Patrick's Day 2016 - Playful Pals Leprechaun. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

Hat: Large solid oval

Clover: Small teardrop

Face: 1-3/4″ circle punch, wide set eyes & mouth stamps

Beard: Small solid oval

Body: Solid triangle

Arms & Legs: Solid trunk (trimmed)

Hands: Scalloped circle from Tree Builder punch

The balloon are supposed to look like a lucky 4-leaf clover.  The heart shaped balloon from the Balloon Builders stamp set was perfect for this idea and I think it works well!

Happy St Patrick's Day 2016 - Balloon Builders Clover. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

I splashed Wink of Stella on quite a few parts of the card – Gold on the left side of each balloon and top & bottom points of his beard; Clear on the balloons (all over!) and his hat.

I hope you have a lovely St Patrick’s Day today and that something lucky happens to you.  It’s also Cup Day in Bunbury (the biggest horse racing event of the year) – so it’s going to be a rauchous atmosphere here in the South West for some!!!

No race day for me though, it’s my ‘real work’ day but I am excited about Mr Papercraft being home again and going out to dinner with my family!  Family times are happy times here at Papercraft HQ.  I feel lucky everyday!  Kelly x

Playful Pals – Quack, Quack!

It’s the weekend – woo hoo!  I hope this means some time at the craft table for you.  It’s a little of that for me and also some Mummy duties – not all play for the wicked!

I promised you some Playful Pal creations, and here is another one…

Playful Pals stamp set - Duck. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

The inspiration for this creature came from the birthday present – a Duck & Goose book.  I thought a matching duck card would be just perfect.

Duck & Goose Opposite Book - inspiration.

The cute little duck was easy to make with the Playful Pal pieces.  I could have used the matching Pyramid Pals thinlits, but opted for fussy cutting to get a ‘no border’ effect (for all the pieces except the bow).  I don’t mind the odd bit of fussy cutting – call me crazy!

Playful Pals stamp set - Duck. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

After using the Playful Pals bundle, the only thing I wish it had was some oval ‘princess’ eyes.  So many cartoon & drawn characters have these rather than the heavy lidded eyes in the set.  I think it makes poor ducky look a little sad 😦  If you’ve got any ideas to make her a little happier, I’d love to hear from you!  Kelly x

Girls Like Pirates Too!

Hello!  Tomorrow we’re off to a party with a pirate theme (how organised am I??), with 2 birthday girls as the guests of honour.

Which makes, this card perfect for my ‘girls like … too’ series.  Yes, girls like pirates too!

When I was thinking of what kind of girly pirate card I would like to make, the Playful Pals bundle was sitting on my desk from the Easter Treat Tubes I made earlier in the week…. and the cogs starting creaking!

What if, as well as animals, the Playful Pals bundle could make other cute characters – like pirates?

As it turns out, the pieces are perfect for this with an eye patch, facial features, ponytails all ready to go …

Girls Like Pirates Too - Playful Pals Pirate Punch Art. Freshly Made Sketches #226. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

To finish my card, I went looking for a sketch layout and thought this week’s sketch at Freshly Made Sketches #226 was perfect.

My “Girls Like Pirates Too” card…

Girls Like Pirates Too - Playful Pals Pirate Punch Art. Freshly Made Sketches #226. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

As you know, I love a good theme – and pirates are always great birthday card inspiration!  The best card I have ever made (in my opinion) was a Jake the Pirate punch art card.  Ahoy & happy birthday little pirates!  Kelly x
