Rustic Retreat & other retiring gems

When the annual catalogue gets released, there’s always products that form part of your maybe wishlist. Usually I put off buying them and regret it when I have the perfect idea for a stamp set or accessory that I don’t yet own! The ideal solution would be to buy the whole catalogue – but I haven’t been able to convince Mr Papercraft that’s a good idea (yet).

When the Last Chance Retirement List comes out, it can be a great opportunity to buy those products that you didn’t know you needed to have until they won’t be available anymore. Rustic Retreat was always on my list, but with the wintery imagery, it never quite made it into an order …. that is, until it appeared on the retirement list at an amazing 75% off retail price. That’s right – Rustic Retreat, with a pretty Happy Birthday sentiment, a gorgeous Christmas greeting and a great quote is in the online store for only $10.50.

This is the first card I made using Rustic Retreat when it arrived.

I’ve combined it with some other retiring favourites that I already own, and are my favourites that I’ll miss in the new catalogue. Don’t worry though, there’s plenty of lovely new things to add to your wishlist. But, if you don’t own any of these on the list below, I recommend you add them to your order soon!

  • Subtle 3D Embossing Folder
  • Neutrals DSP
  • Braided Linen Trim
  • 2020–2022 In Color Enamel Dots

I also used some annual catalogue products that have already sold out including Word of Good DSP, Pinewood Planks Embossing Folder and Bumblebee Ribbon. The Tasteful Labels Dies are carrying over to the new annual catalogue.

You can order any current or retirement list item by visiting my online store.

Beachy Little Christmas

In the same theme as yesterday’s post, I want to share another stamp set from the 2017 Holiday Catalogue that lends itself to a number of different occasions.

Today it’s all about Beachy Little Christmas…

This set was modelled on some of our iconic beachy images here in Australia.

In a catalogue full of snowflakes, it’s a great alternative option – perfect for our summery climate at this time of the year.

The stamp set comes with Christmas-like sentiments, so the first card I’m sharing is for Christmas.

I’ve used a colour theme that screams ‘beach’ to me – Sahara Sand, Pool Party & Whisper White.

The background is made using the faux woodgrain technique on glossy white cardstock, but in beachy colours – Soft Sky base and Pool Party & Bermuda Bay streaks – to emulate a water scene.

All those gorgeous pastels!!!  I love non-traditional Christmas card colours!

The second card uses the same colours, but this time I’ve left off the sentiment and used it as a birthday card.

The Pinewood Planks Embossing Folder is a great coordinating products for the beach shack stamp.

I’m always on the lookout for multiple options for the stamp sets I buy.  I want to know that I’m adding value and creativity to my stash.

I’m hopeful that many Stampin’ Up! demonstrators and customers will purchase the Beachy Little Christmas stamp set and support the efforts from the corporate design team for the Christmas range to be inclusive of all geographical areas.  Fingers crossed for a surfing Santa or 6 White Boomers stamp in a future design!!!

Colour INKspiration #12

Can you believe we’re about to enter the second half of the year on the weekend???

We had the winter solstice last week and I’m looking forward to gradually seeing long days.

Unfortunately I think there’s lot of cold weather ahead, but before we can blink, it’ll be summer again and we’ll be close to welcoming in 2018!!!

Today for Colour INKspiration we’ve got a wintery combination inspired by beautiful photo full of wool (or yarn as you might refer to it in other parts of the world).

No automatic alt text available.

There are 8 colours to choose from  – and we’re asking you to include at least 4 from the list…

Whisper White, Night of Navy, Elegant Eggplant, Cherry Cobbler, Flirty Flamingo, Dapper Denim, Smoky Slate & Peekaboo Peach.

As well as a challenge to use these rich tones (I naturally prefer ‘pretty’ or ‘bright’), I challenged myself for CI#12 to use items that I ordered from the new catalogue but that had not yet been touched.

Yes… sign of a true addict!

The first product I pulled out was the Just Add Color Specialty DSP.  This wasn’t initially on my list, but after seeing it ‘in person’ while cutting it up for my paper share I decided I {had to own it}.

This paper created the focal point for my cards – and the challenge colours inspired the rest!

Each card uses a different combination of the colours above, but across all 3 cards I’ve used all 8 colours.

All the images you see in these cards have been cut from the DSP – no stamping for the main images.  It’s such a great way to add diversity to your projects.

The sentiments are from another product that I couldn’t wait to own, but have yet to break out – the In The City stamp set, available for purchase with hostess rewards.

Did you spy the embossing folders??? I was so excited to have these patterns in the new catalogue. The cards each feature a new & different 3D Dynamic Embossing Folder – Ruffled, Pinewood Planks & Layered Leaves.

My cards didn’t look quite finished, so I used one more new product – a bit of bling!  Although not technically ‘new’, rather reconfigured, the Pearl Basic Jewels have had a makeover.

I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing the Just Add Color DSP, Dynamic Embossing Folders and In The City stamp set in action.

And maybe even found another ‘must have’ like me.  Every time I think I have what I need (for now), someone shares an amazing creation that makes the wishlist even longer!

If you’re in the need for more temptation – or just love to see wonderful creativity – then click the next button below to be transported across the country to the lovely Tanya Bell on the Sunshine Coast!

If these colours make you warm & cosy and feel like crafting, then we’d love to see you over on our Colour INKspiration Challenges Facebook page where you can see the creations the colour combination has inspired the members to create and share yours.

Stay warm (or cool if you’re north of here!).
