Just Add Ink #457 | Sketch

Hello!  Thanks for joining us for this week’s Just Add Ink challenge.

Image may contain: text

We’re all creating to a sketch and I know you’re going to love the design team projects.  You can see them all on the Just Add Ink blog.  You can also enter your card there for this sketch challenge – we’d love to have you share your work!

I’ve done some rotating and flipping with this sketch – the elements are all there, but I’ve spun it around.

This time of the year is always a battle between sharing sneak peeks of new products with you and enjoying some retiring favourites for just a little longer.  I’ve gone with retiring favourites for the stamp sets – Petal Palette (with coordinating dies) and Vertical Greetings.  I’m going to miss both of these!

I’ve combined my choice of stamps with a Rose Gold theme.  The Rose Gold Shimmer Paint & Foil Sheets are part of the Everything is Rosy Product Medley – available during May (unless sold out earlier).  For more info on the Everything is Rosy Product Medley – click here.

There’s so many ways to use shimmer paint!  For this card I’ve used it three ways – with Versamark to clear heat emboss the leaves, then with a water filled Aqua Painter to colour the flowers (Rose Gold & Champagne Mist) and finally with a dry / empty Aqua Painter to colour the pearls.  Shimmer Paint dries surprisingly quickly, making it very easy to work with!

To use shimmer point for heat embossing, ink up your stamp with Versamark, the apply Shimmer Paint with a dauber and stamp as usual.  Coat the stamped image in clear embossing powder and melt with your heat tool.  The glossy & shimmery effect is so pretty!

Rose Gold Petal Palette | kelly kent

The strips of foil on the card are both Rose Gold (Everything is Rosy Medley) and Champagne.

Rose Gold Petal Palette | kelly kentHave you ever used two embossing folders on the same piece of cardstock?  Using more than one embossing folder is so new to me – it just never occured to me until I wanted a bit more texture on the background than the crisp finish of the Tufted folder.

The embossing for the background of this card has been run through the Big Shot three times.  Twice (once each direction) with the Subtle Embossing Folder and finally with the Tufted Embossing Folder.    I love how it looks and I’ll be looking for other embossing combinations!

Rose Gold Petal Palette | kelly kent

The full sun on the card is a little bright, but I wanted to share just how sparkly the colouring is when you use Shimmer Paint as your colouring medium.  You can only imagine how stunning it looks in real life!

All the products I’ve used for this card are available in my online store – links below, but some items are only around for a limited time.  Items on the Last Chance Retirement List are only available until 3rd June (or sold out).  Everything is Rosy is available through May until sold out.

Thank you for visiting and checking out my Just Add Ink card.  All the design team cards are on the Just Add Ink blog and the linky tool to share your creation with us.  It’s such a versatile sketch – I can’t wait to see all the entries.

WA Demo Retreat Blog Hop

No automatic alt text available.

Today I’m taking part in a fabulous blog hop  – it celebrates the make & take projects that were part of our recent WA Demo Retreat Day.

30 Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from the Perth & South West areas of Western Australia spent the day together crafting, laughing and sharing what we love.

The feedback from the event, which Nicole Wilson & I organised together, has been awesome and I have no doubt there will be another one on the horizon!

The day started at 9am with morning tea, coffee & networking before sitting down for some serious stamping!

Each participant brought make & take project and completed 12 other projects throughout the day.  The variety was awesome and I loved being able to play with stamp sets I don’t own & try techniques I hadn’t done before.

This was my make & take using the Petal Palette stamp set and the masking technique.

Between making this card and this blog hop going live, Stampin’ Up! has put the Stampin’ Blends into unorderable mode.  They were just so popular that the factory couldn’t keep up with demand.  I know many of you already own a set of Blends, so here’s the instructions anyway.  If you don’t, bookmark this for when the Blends return in late May 2018.

To make this card, you need:

  • Card base: Smoky Slate – 4-1/8″ x 11-3/4″ / 10.5cm x 29.7cm (half A4), scored at 5-7/8″ / 14.8cm
  • Card mat 1: Rich Razzleberry – 3-7/8″ x 5-5/8″ / 10cm x 14.3cm
  • Card mat 2: Whisper White – 3-5/8″ x 5-3/8″ / 9.8cm x 13.8cm
  • Card insert: Whisper White – 3-7/8″ x 5-5/8″ / 10cm x 14.3cm
  • Scrap of Sweet Sugarplum cardstock with Multi-Purpose Adhesive Sheet on the back
  • Piece of copy paper slightly larger than mat 2 (approx 3-3/4″ x 5-1/2″ / 10cm x 14cm)
  • Pearls
  • Whisper White Baker’s Twine
  • Stampin’ Blends: Rich Razzleberry Light & Dark, Pink Pirouette Dark, Old Olive Light & Dark, Smoky Slate Light
  • Tuxedo Black Memento Ink
  • Rich Razzleberry Ink
  • Petal Palette stamp set
  • Petals & More Thinlits
  • Adhesive of choice (Tape & Tear / double sided tape, Tombow, Snail, Fast Fuse)
  • Repositionable tape or washi tape
  • Wink of Stella

To make:

  • Cut a circle towards the top middle of your copy paper.  I used the 2-3/4″ / 7cm Layering Circle Framelit.  Discard the circle & keep the rectangle piece of copy paper
  • Adhere to mat 2 using repositionable tape or washi tape on the reverse side
  • Stamp the large flower in the space left by the missing circle and then stamp the smaller flowers to fill in the gaps
  • Allow 5 mins to dry, leave the mask in place
  • Cut the lattice die from the Sweet Sugarplum cardstock while you are waiting
  • Leaving the mask where it is, colour the flowers using Rich Razzleberry & Pink Pirouette Blends and the leaves using Old Olive Blends
  • Taking care around the edges of the circle, colour the background of the circle in Smoky Slate.  If you sweep from the copy paper across to the middle of the circle, you should find it contains better than if you go towards the mask.
  • Once you’ve finished colouring, gently remove the mask.
  • Stamp the Best Wishes sentiment in the bottom right corner (Rich Razzleberry)
  • Add the lattice die cut and wrap & tie the baker’s twine around mat 2.
  • Adhere mat 2 to mat 1 and then this piece to the card base.  Adhere the card insert to the middle of the card.
  • Finish your card with pearls along the lattice and Wink of Stella on the flowers.

Stamping Sunday Blog Hop | Lots of Happy

Hello everyone!  It’s been a little quiet on the blog this week as I balance finding some craft time together with going back to work.  10 weeks of long service leave went way too quickly!!!

I’m checking back in today with the Stamping Sunday Design Team to share ideas for two of the kits in the Occasions Catalogue.

Join the team as they share spin off designs & projects from the Lots of Happy Kit & Perennial Birthday Kit.

For the full link up list, click on the cute little blue froggie.

View the kits in the online store by clicking on the links below…

The Lots of Happy Kit is an all-inclusive kits and supplies all the materials you need for 20 cards including envelopes.  You’ll also get a stamp set to keep, black ink spot, 4 watercolour pencils, ombre ribbon and dimensionals.  2 of the Watercolour Pencil colours are exclusive to this kit!  You may like to purchase an Aqua Painter to use with the Watercolour Pencil if you don’t already own one.

The Perennial Birthday card coordinates with the gorgeous Perennial Birthday stamp set.  You can choose to use stamps you already have in your collection to finish this kit or purchase the Perennial Birthday stamp set to use with the kit.  This kit has supplies for 16 cards, including envelopes and a beautiful storage box for the finished set of cards – complete with dividers.

All Stampin’ Up! kits come with written instructions and videos are available on the Stampin’ Up! YouTube channel.  Click here to visit.

I love using the kits as extra supplies in my stash to create some different designs.

Today I’m sharing three cards I’ve made using supplies from the kit together with the Wood Textures DSP.

Lots of Happy Kit | kelly kent

The first card I made used the flower cut out from the kit, the watercolour pencils and the ‘lots + lots of happy’ sentiment.

Lots of Happy Kit | kelly kent

By changing the background to the Stitched Shapes squares cut from a series of scraps I had from another Wood Textures DSP project, I was able to change the look from the card kit designs to something completely different!

Continuing on with the Wood Textures theme, I used another sentiment to create a birthday card…

Lots of Happy Kit | kelly kent

And a final one using the Waterfront stamp set and another sentiment from the Lots of Happy Kit…

Lots of Happy Kit | kelly kent

This stamp set is photopolymer so I’ve cut the thank you part away from the ‘for being a friend’ part so I can use just the thank you or join it back together on the block and use all of it.

I love that the all-inclusive kits give you a stamp set to keep!  They are always full of a variety of useful sentiments.

If you’d like to store yours with your other stamp sets, you can purchase the clear cases as a pack of 4 and download & print the case cover by clicking on the link image below.

Stamp Review Crew | Petal Palette

Hello Monday – the third Monday of February, which means I’m hopping with the delightful Stamp Review Crew.

This talented group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators hail from all around the world.  This week we’re sharing designs with the super popular stamp set Petal Palette.

Get ready for some amazing designs to inspire you!

My absolute favourite from this stamp set – the one stamp that has been overworked – is the large trio of flowers.

So, that was my first creation…

Petal Palette | kelly kent

I used the no-line watercolouring technique to colour the flowers.

Ink the stamp in a soft colour (I prefer Sahara Sand) and stamp onto scrap to remove most of the colour, then again onto your piece of Whisper White.

Use an Aqua Painter to go over the image lines and shade within the flowers/leaves.

Petal Palette | kelly kent

For my second card, I set myself a challenge to use the other stamps in case 2.

This was the result…

Petal Palette | kelly kent

And I’m so happy with how it turned out!!!

It can be fun outside of the comfort zone!

Petal Palette | kelly kent

My tip for creating outside of your usual style or realm is to keep as much the same as you can.  For this card I chose colours I know I like (yellow, gray, white & black are a favourite combination of mine) and a layout & stamping style I’ve used before.  All I had to do was slide the stamps into the design and we have a card!!!

Petal Palette | kelly kent

If you haven’t added this set to your supplies yet, I bet this blog hop is going to drive it straight to the top of your list!

Keep hopping and visit my gorgeous friend Lou Kitzelman.

Lou and I have been chatting lots lately while we plan some great projects to share with you in the future.  Watch this space!!!  Click here to visit the Stamp in Confidence blog.

Just Add Ink #392 | Something New Blog Hop

Hello!  Slowly but surely the year is getting underway and I’m starting to see February on the horizon – jeepers!!!

The Just Add Ink challenges are back for 2018 with a “Just Add Something New” blog hop from the Design Team.

Image may contain: text

At this time of the year, with a catalogue just launched in January, we all have lots of new to choose from.  There might also be something not new in age – but newly inked or cut.

Whichever it is, it’s always a good push to get creative with something you’ve bought but only admired!

I am showcasing two products that I was super excited to get but hadn’t yet made it to a project – the Myths & Magic Glimmer Paper from the Occasions Catalogue and the Beautiful Peacock stamp set from the Sale-A-Bration choices.

Just Add Ink #392 Beautiful Peacock | kelly kent

This card is actually relatively simple – but the oh-so-pretty flourish cut from the Petals & More Thinlits in the turquoise glimmer adds a special touch!

Just Add Ink #392 Beautiful Peacock | kelly kent

The colours for the peacock are Bermuda Bay & Island Indigo – which I’ve then carried through to the overall card colours. I do love a monochromatic card!!!

Just Add Ink #392 Beautiful Peacock | kelly kent

If I was only allowed one favourite from the Occasions Catalogue, it might very well be the Petal Passion suite – there’s just so many ways you can use it and so many things you can do with it!!!

To join in our ‘Something New’ challenge, head over to the Just Add Ink blog where you can upload your project.

To see what new things Chantell has been playing with click on the next button below.

Thanks for hopping with us.  We’re looking forward to a wonderful 2018 full of inspirational challenge and amazing challenge entries!

Colour INKspiration #25

Hello & welcome to the first Colour INKspiration hop for 2018!

It’s a good one with fresh & summery colours – Lemon Lime Twist, Whisper White & Night of Navy.Image may contain: plant, drink and nature

They say blue & green should never be seen, but this combo is dynamite!!!

I’ve used it to create a fresh & floral tropical birthday card using the toucan from the new Bird Banter stamp set.

This set was an all-attendee giveaway at the OnStage event in November 2017.  Like all great gifts, it was perfect for me – something awesome that I would have never have bought myself.  I wouldn’t normally add a bird set to my stash – but I love owning it!!!

Colour INKspiration #25 | kelly kent

I used lots of white in this card to keep it bright and used the Night of Navy and Lemon Lime Twist to add pops of colour.

As well as the Bird Banter stamp set, I used a couple of products from the Petal Passion Suite – one of the Petal Pair Embossing Folders and the leafy die from the Petals & More Thinlits..  I love how well all the products coordinate, even between sets & suites!

Love using banners on your card?  This is so easy to make with your Classic Label Punch.

Punch your shape as usual, then feed back through the side of the punch to snip off banner edges.

Making a Banner using the Classic Label Punch | kelly kent

I carried through the theme to the inside and decorated using a couple of balloons and some colour themed washi tape.

Colour INKspiration #25 | kelly kent

It’s hard to photograph, but my clear Wink of Stella pen added some sparkle to the balloons & toucan.

If you love these colours, join the challenge by uploading your card to our Facebook page.  Click here to visit.

Please continue the hop for more colour filled inspiration – there’s lots of great ideas from the Colour INKspiration design team.

Hop on to the gorgeous Mel Pagano and her ‘epic’ card!
