OnStage 2017 – November in Melbourne

You’ve been warned… this post is long with lots of photos! (feel free just to look at the photos or skip on by the whole thing!)

The blackout period for OnStage news ended this morning, which means it’s time to share the event highlights (for me) with you.

Many thanks to Siobhan Fitzsimmons who unreservedly shared her photos with me, so I actually have some to show you!  I am terrible at remembering to take photos!!!  So, with her complete permission, what you see below (all with my watermark) are a mix of my iphone photos and Siobhan’s professional photos.  You’ll be able to tell the difference!!!

OnStage 2017 | kelly kent

My trip to Melbourne started at 7.30pm on Thursday night – Mum and I travelled to Perth airport (about a 2 hr drive) and checked in for our flight to Melbourne.

This is us leaving Bunbury (you can see the excitement all over our faces!)

OnStage 2017 | kelly kent

I was super productive during the wait for our flight and was able to get some blogging done so I had some posts to share with you while I was at the event having fun.  I hope you enjoyed seeing my team presents & OnStage swaps.  If you missed these posts, you can find the team presents here & swaps here.

By Friday, all 7 of the Paper Adventure Teamies attending the event had landed in Melbourne (albeit some a little more sleep deprived than others) so we set aside Friday as a team activity day.  We had a sensational brunch at the Grain Store in the Melbourne CBD, explored the markets and checked out the DFO.

This is us at brunch..

Around the table: Kristel, Sheila, me, Mandy, Siobhan, Amy & Anne.

Friday night was a team dinner for the rest of the team and the pleasure of a CentreStage leadership dinner for me. One of the privileges of my Silver Elite title is dinner and training on the night before the OnStage event.

Here I am all glammed up on my way out.  I actually didn’t take any photos at the event – too busy having a good time!

OnStage 2017 | kelly kent

The CentreStage dinner was amazing – great company, lovely food, training that was just spot-on for my needs and some extra special gifts to take home with us including the new catalogue!

So while my roomies wondered what was in the new catalogue, I was already flicking through with lots of oooo-ing and ahhhh-ing over the wonderful items on every page.  Eventually I had to put the catalogue down and get some sleep because we had an early start the next day!

Saturday saw the 7 of us walk on over to the OnStage event at Melbourne Park (the tennis centre!)..  I felt so blessed to share the experience with such a fun, talented and awesome group of ladies!

We got a little excited about going as a team, so we had team shirts (designed by me) and team earrings (created by Kristel).

6 of my Paper Adventures team made the trip with me – I felt so blessed to share the experience with them!

And of course we all took the drink bottles I designed as team gifts.  You’ll notice they coordinate with the t-shirts – every good stamper loves their coordinating range!

The day was filled with new products, old and new friends and all the fun of a wonderful Stampin’ Up! event.  You really can’t appreciate how special these days are unless you attend one.

Here are some action shots…

Those radiant smiles you see in all the photos are 100% natural – it’s such a buzz being at a Stampin’ Up! event.

Amongst the day’s activities, we saw the amazing achievements of demonstrators at the end.  Several of my team got recognised for Quick Start (way to go Sheila & Mandy) and promotion to Bronze Elite (big congrats Siobhan, Sheila & Mandy!).

I got recognised for sales, leadership & recruitment, which I found out this morning, all added up to being the #28 demonstrator in Australia for the 2016-2017 Stampin’ Up! year.  Thanks for all the support!!!

OnStage 2017 | kelly kent

I also got to walk across the stage to recognise my 5 years with Stampin’ Up! and achieving 100,000 Flex Points for the year (earned through sales, recruiting, leadership and other promotions).

My stage walk was fun and got me a snuggle with the gorgeous Bonnie from the US office!

OnStage 2017 | kelly kent

Across the day we got to hear about & see the new products being released in the Occasions and Sale-A-Bration catalogues, we got to take some new products home and we got to stamp 4 projects with the new catalogue items.

Here’s a look at my ‘stash’ by the end of the event…

OnStage 2017 | kelly kent

Stampin’ Up! is celebrating 30 years of business next year, so they spoiled us with some exclusive merchandise – a cute little shopping bag and a 30 year pin.

OnStage 2017 | kelly kent

Our bag (the orange on the bottom layer) contained a stamp set, notebook, pens and mug at check in.  And then I filled it with more stamps through the day from Prize Patrol, an all-attendee giveaway and a stamp set from the tools we used for our stamping projects.

OnStage 2017 | kelly kent

Did I mention we stamped???

Four awesome projects, all with new items that you’ll be able to purchase from 3rd January 2018  (or 1st Dec 2017 if you’d like to join our Paper Adventures team).

OnStage 2017 | kelly kent

This is the Bubble Over Collection – super cute for all ages…

Bubble Over | kelly kent

The Sweet Soiree Collection – these colours just make my heart sing!

How cute are the boxes and that DSP – oh-my!!!

Sweet Soiree | kelly kent

Petal Passion Collection – it’s all black & white, but you can add pops of colour (like in this card) to transform it to all kinds of occasions and styles…

Petal Passion | kelly kent

And finally the cute little tags are from the Tutti-Frutti collection. You know those times when you see something in the catalogue and think you don’t really need it, but then you stamp with it and before you know it, it’s on your order…. well, that happened to me with these cute little fruits!  #sorrynotsorry #itwasthepineapples

Tutti Frutti | kelly kent

Saturday finished for us with a dinner shared with a group of amazing designers from the Just Add Ink / Colour INKspiration / CASEing the Catty design teams.  We hit up Chinatown for a banquet dinner complete with deep fried banana & ice cream – yum!!!

Sunday saw the end of the stamping and a day to sleep in, explore Melbourne, catch up with one of my friends from uni (who now lives in Melbourne) and see a show.  I could have easily stayed the rest of the week in Melbourne – my exploration was really only the tip of the iceberg.

Melbourne really turned on the weather for us – it was sensational!

Melbourne | kelly kent

I totally fell in love with the culture, vibe and energy of the Melbourne CBD.

Monday saw the trip back to Western Australia.  There wasn’t any blogging on the way back, just a special Stampin’ Up! order to place of all my new catalogue favourites.  I’m looking forward to sharing some sneak peeks with you over the coming months.

I had two very happy little Miss Papercrafts greet me when I got home.

Maddie helped me model my new Stampin’ Up! t-shirt – a beautiful gift from CentreStage…

OnStage 2017 | kelly kent

And then I lost them to the presents I brought back from Melbourne.

A new book collection for our bookworm…

OnStage 2017 | kelly kent

And a game for the family to play….

OnStage 2017 | kelly kent

Mr Papercraft was too busy eating Haigh’s chocolate to pose for a photo!

It’s lovely to be back at home, but Melbourne was a memorable experience that I’m so grateful for.

I’m already planning for the next event in November, because guess what???  We’re going to Perth!!!

The OnStage Live event is in Orlando and the three South Pacific local (one day) events are Perth, Sydney and Auckland.

Anyone who is a demonstrator with Stampin’ Up! at he time of the event can go!

Join my Paper Adventures team between now and January and you’ll be able to register for the event.  Need more info?  Click here to see my joining page or contact me to chat through the details.

Being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator is truly amazing – what a great family to be part of and great ‘paper adventures’ to be had.

Thank you to my family in Bunbury for making it possible for me to go east to feed my own passion, my teamies who joined me on the adventure, all of my team for supporting me, the Stampin’ Up! staff for putting on such a great event, the demos who took part by setting/packing up, creating samples or doing a presentation and the wonderful group of demonstrators I spent the day with.

See you in April, when we do it all again!

OnStage 2017 Team Presents

Well, it’s here!!  And we are here!  Myself and 6 of my Paper Adventures team are in Melbourne for a weekend filled with fun, stamping and great friendships.

Today we enjoyed a marvellous brunch and saw the sights of Melbourne.

At brunch we shared team swaps.  I know some of my team will blog their own creations, so I’ll leave that to them and just share what I gave out.

This weekend is going to be such a special memory, so I have created a little memory box using the Mini Pizza Boxes.

OnStage 2017 Memory Box | kelly kentI thought it would be a great way to help them remember their OnStage experience.  Thanks to iPhones, it’ll  be easy to get some happy snaps while we are away.

OnStage 2017 Memory Box | kelly kent

And then an accordion fold in the middle ready for photos!  The paper aeroplane is our team motif, so I have kept this cute stamp from a retired set for team projects!

OnStage 2017 Memory Box | kelly kent

I am so grateful for my team joining me in Melbourne (no mean feat to traverse the continent for a one day event), so I wanted to make them some gifts to commemorate our time together.

Nanna Papercraft is always on board with my crazy ideas and happily helped me to embroider these beautiful scarves with …. our aeroplane!  Thanks Mum!

OnStage 2017 Team Scarf | kelly kent

I thought a scarf was particularly fitting given Melbourne’s reputation for 4 seasons in one day!  Hopefully we catch some nicer weather than they had earlier in the week for Melbourne Cup!

OnStage 2017 Team Scarf | kelly kent

The scarf is protecting another gift – personalised water bottles!

I’ve been using my Cameo lots lately to add adhesive vinyl to glass & plastic items as gifts.  Several of my team were commenting how much they’d like something made for them…. little did they know what I was scheming!!

OnStage 2017 Personalised Water Bottles | kelly kent

There’s one for me too – I didn’t want to miss out!!!

OnStage 2017 Personalised Water Bottles | kelly kent

A big thank you to my team for making this weekend so special!

If you see us at the event, please say hi!  It’s going to be a great day!!!

I’m off now to the CentreStage event to see more of my demo friends, have a lovely dinner and get a sneak peek at the new catalogue.

There’s no sharing til next week though – my lips are sealed!!!

Paper Adventures Team Blog Hop | Favourites

Paper Adventures - Blog Hop Header

Hey there!!  Thanks for joining our Paper Adventures team blog hop for October!

The theme for this hop is ‘favourites’.  I wanted the team to share some of their style and personality with you – so keep hopping to learn more about what makes stamping fun for them!

If you haven’t started here, then you may have hopped over from our guest designer – Angela Meiritz-Reid.  She is every bit as gorgeous in person as she is online and we are delighted she agreed to hop with us today.

Next up is the host with the most – Siobhan Fitzsimmons!  Click on ‘next’ at the end of the post to see her favourites!

Siobhan hosted us at her beautiful homestead in the Perth hills on Sunday.

We turned our regular team meeting into a whole day retreat.  It was a wonderful luxury to share craft time with an amazing group of ladies.

The creative part of the day was filled by shoebox swaps.  Every team member designed a project and brought everything they needed to complete the card – all in a small box.

The cards were beautiful, with a gorgeous variety.  You might see some of them tonight!

Here’s an action shot of the shoebox swaps.  Thanks to Siobhan for the excellent photography!

And once it was made…

Stampin' Blends | kelly kent

So, my favourite???

It’s new things!  There’s nothing more exciting to me than the privilege of owning new stamps, ink, paper & tools!

My card features two new products  – Stampin’ Blends (alcohol markers) and a cute new stamp set called Colour Me Happy.

Here’s my beautiful markers….

Stampin' Blends | kelly kent

They are an absolute dream to colour with!  The easiest alcohol markers you’ll ever use.  And they match our existing colour range!!

My card features three of the marker duos – Rich Razzleberry, Daffodil Delight & Pool Party.

Stampin' Blends | kelly kent

Demonstrators were lucky enough to have a special ordering period for the new Stampin – available for everyone to order.  If new things are your favourite too and you’d like to be able to order first (and at a discount!), you should join our Paper Adventures team. Click here for more info!

If being a demonstrator isn’t for you just now, the Stampin’ Blends will be available to purchase on 1st November 2017.

Stampin' Blends | kelly kent

With 3 catalogues a year plus limited edition releases, there’s never shortage of new favourite products to own!!!

Next up on the journey of favourites is Siobhan Fitzsimmons – she has a favourites list as long as mine, so I can’t wait for her to narrow down just one favourite to blog about!!!

Thanks to my amazing team, and our fabulous guest designer, Angela, for sharing their favourites!  I always love seeing what others are swooning over!

I know my wish list will grow seeing all the fantastic projects!!!

Luckily, there’s always a stamping order just around the corner in my house!

Happy September Birthday Paper Adventurers!

It’s birthday time again – can you believe of 365 days of the year, two of our team share the same birthday!!!

Happy Birthday to Kerry & Anne who will both be celebrating this weekend.

I’m still loving using our beautiful DSP to make necklaces – and then of course coordinating cards.

Both cards are a tri fold with a belly band.

I cut the cardstock at 5-7/8″ longways and then scored at 4″ & 8-1/2, with the remaining portion making up the front flap.

For Kerry, I went soft & subtle and used the A Whole Lot of Lovely DSP…

A Whole Lot of Lovely DSP | kelly kent

For Anne, I chose the warm colours of the Painted Harvest DSP…

Painted Harvest DSP | kelly kent

If you’d like to make your own necklaces, this wonderful supplier was recommended by a SU! friend. (Eeek – last time I checked the site was down for maintenance.  Hopefully it’ll be open for your orders again soon!).

There’s a great special on DSP due to start in October.  So, if you’ve enjoyed some of the patterns from your paper stack, October will be a great time to add some full packs to your collection.

Have a great weekend ladies!  May there be many moments of celebration and lots of happy memories made!

Make your own….

Paper Adventures Team Blog Hop – DSP

Paper Adventures - Blog Hop Header

Good evening & welcome to the September edition of our team blog hop.

I’m so proud of what our Paper Adventures team has achieved this year.  Many of them have undertaken new activities – starting a blog, running classes, selling their creations, with lots more adventure on the horizon!

It’s so empowering to be part of such an amazing group of ladies!!!

Today’s theme is “DSP” – which in Stampin’ Up! lingo refers to Designer Series Paper – the range of exclusive patterned paper created by the Stampin’ Up! design department.

DSP is one of my favourite products in the range!  I buy all the patterns in each catalogue!  I love having the variety at my finger tips.

An affordable way to own every design is to purchase a Paper Share.  Find out more about the Holiday Catalogue one here.

Many crafters hoard DSP – afraid to use up all their favourite patterns or cut into those beautiful sheets.

I don’t have this fear and use DSP whenever I can!  I cut it, stick it and use it on so many of the cards I create.  It’s my favourite background!

When I was thinking of what to make for this hop, I wanted to explore ways to use DSP that aren’t always my first thought.

I came up with several – you can emboss it, stamp on it and use more than one pattern.

The two I am sharing with you today are…

DIE CUT IT!

The variation in colour makes for a great background for die cut pieces.  Or, in the case of this card, I used the ombre colour palette from the Color Theory DSP to  create variation in texture for my butterflies….

Paper Adventures Blog Hop - DSP | kelly kent

And the Wood Textures DSP to create a custom envelope…

Paper Adventures Blog Hop - DSP | kelly kent

The second project I’m sharing is great for when you need a quick card…

RIP IT!

Paper Adventures Blog Hop - DSP | kelly kent

I almost always use DSP in a solid rectangle background piece or in a long strip!

This diagonal rip is perfect for pretty papers with lots of detail, like the Petal Garden DSP.

I’ve also added some DSP (in my traditional strip style!) to the middle of the card…

Paper Adventures Blog Hop - DSP | kelly kent

Can you tell how much I love DSP?

Paper Adventures Blog Hop - DSP | kelly kent

So, here’s the challenge for the week –

Cut & use a piece of DSP that you’ve been ‘saving’ or choose a different way than your “DSP-go-to” for a project.

If this blog hop has inspired a need for more DSP, check out my Holiday Catalogue Paper Share, choose a current DSP from the online store or visit the Clearance Rack of the online store for some DSP at great discounts!!!

Next up is our guest designer for this hop – Marian Fleming.

Marian is a demonstrator in Perth that I met at OnStage and recently visited us for a class.

How awesome that a common love of stamps makes it so easy to make new friends!

Teepee Love!

Do you remember the baby teepee card I made back in May when I was eagerly awaiting being able to order all the stamps on my new catalogue wishlist?

Here it is…

Now that I’ve added the oh-so-cute teepee stamp set – Little One – to my collection, I made the card again using the stamp set.

Little One - Teepee Love | kelly kent

I can’t decide which version I like better!!!  I just think teepees are the cutest baby motif!

I also made a Rich Razzleberry version in this design….

These cards were my swaps for our recent team meeting.

This stamp set is getting quite a work out – pop back in tomorrow to see another Little One creation for my Colour INKspiration design team card.

So many baby cards – but I just couldn’t resist!

Back to Basics for a Paper Adventures Team Birthday

May has been a big birthday month for our Paper Adventures team.

Kristel at the beginning of the month, mine in the middle, and Pauline rounded us out at the end.

I’ve started a matchy-matchy tradition for team member birthdays and whilst it won’t always be necklaces, that’s where I am finding wonerful inspiration at the moment.

This is the beautiful necklace I gave to Pauline and the matching card I made her.

The main square of the card was inspired by the patterns on the necklace.

Paper Adventures – Team Swaps

The Paper Adventures Team met yesterday for a fun team meeting.  We chatted, had a cuppa, make a card and bonded over this crazy little thing called Stampin’ Up!

Many thanks to Anne for being the hostess with the mostest.

We also participated in ‘swaps’.  Each attended team member made a card and swapped this with the team members.

Swaps are wonderful for inspiration.  As one of my wise and wonderful team members said regarding swaps –

I hope to make time, I don’t want to miss out on receiving something inspiring.  I have gotten something out of all the swaps I’ve received.

And I totally agree with her.

From a colour combination, to a card fold, way of putting the design together, particular use of a stamp, or an unknown or long forgotten technique, there’s always a take away from someone else’s creativity.

It’s like the best version of Pinterest.

Here is what I made for my team swap.

Paper Adventures Team Swap May 2017 | kelly kent

I wanted to make something connected to our team theme & motif (paper aeroplane), and although the Shooting Star stamp set and coordinating Sliding Star Framelits will be retiring this week, they will be staying in my collection.

Paper Adventures Team Swap May 2017 | kelly kent

Do you like the shooting stars?  I used messy watercolouring to splash some colour on them.

This technique is great – because you don’t have to be too careful with your colouring (which I’m generally not even if I’m trying to be neat!!!)

Paper Adventures Team Swap May 2017 | kelly kent

The slider card is easy to make in this square shape simply by folding into thirds.

Paper Adventures Team Swap May 2017 | kelly kent

Cut the cardstock into half down the long middle, and then score at 3-7/8″ from each end.

Using the circle slider die (or 2 large circle dies), cut the sliding parts from the middle panel.

Fold the bottom third under the middle panel to form the back of the slider and secure with dimensionals in each corner.

Add the centre circle (with dimensionals) to complete the slider pathway.

Using something small, circular & metal (I used 5c coins, washers also work well), make the sliding mechanism and attach the paper plane.

The cards I received from the Paper ADventures team are just gorgeous!  I’m sure my team will blog or Facebook them so you can see them too!

More Birthday Adventures

I am in great company this month for birthdays!

During the week, it was the birthday of one of my Paper Adventure team members – Kristel Rimmer.

Kristel was my very first Paper Adventurer – back when it was just us, and the idea of having a ‘team’ was all very new.

She’s been an amazing support, a great cheerleader and a wonderful friend to share this creative journey with.

These little gift sets are becoming a fun little project for each team birthday that comes up!

Paper Adventures - Team Birthday | kelly kent

Kristel’s necklace reminded me of the Definitely Dahlia background stamp – and a spotlight panel!

And some copper to finish the look!

Happy Birthday Kristel – wishing you everything amazing this year!

OnStage 2017 – Team Swaps & Gifts

On Saturday I posted the cute little affirmation swaps I made for my stamping friends and this morning it was the magnetic frames I made for my team.

Of course, I received many in return and will share these with you in 2 parts.

This is the first part.  Swaps & gifts I received from my team, extended team and design team friends.

I felt so totally spoilt – it was amazing!

First it’s the team gift I received from my Mum – Sheila Pybus.

{I learnt all I know about the beauty of generosity from my parents!}

A personalised team towel….

And Big Shot cover…

A team themed mini Pop Up card from Kristel

Beautifully decorated chocolates from Mandy

A tasty treat from Siobhan…

Coriana made a super fun Pop up Box which was personalised for each team member…

Melissa was an honorary member of the Paper Adventures team for the day and made us all pretty lip balm gifts…

Although my team had already given me gifts, they shared their swaps with me too!

Plus swaps from my extended team!!!

Here’s what they made…

And also some totally spoilt by the design team members I caught up with at the Perth event.

Except for the gorgeous Nicole & Chantell who live in Perth, the other DT friends flew in from interstate.  It was so special to be able to catch up with them!

Did I say totally spoilt???  Look at these beautiful gifts & cards from Nicole Wilson (Colour INKspiration), Rachel Palmieri (Colour INKspiration & CASEing the Catty), Kathryn Mangelsdorf (Colour INKspiration & CASEing the Catty), Tina Gillespie (Just Add Ink) and Judy May (CASEing the Catty).

Well, wasn’t this a photo heavy post!!!  I loved all the creativity of OnStage and wanted to share the talents of the people I know!!!

I’ll share some of the other swaps I received later in the week.

Did I mention that I’m still on a post OnStage high???  If you didn’t come to this one, you’ll have to make plans for the next one which is 11th November 2017.  I’m able to reveal the locations tomorrow, so check back in for more OnStage recap!
