Paper Adventures Team Blog Hop | Retirement List

Paper Adventures - Blog Hop Header

Welcome to the Paper Adventures Team Blog Hop for May.

I love May…. it’s my birthday month, the weather is often amazing and we are on the cusp of a new catalogue!  Lots of happy in May!

With the change in catalogue coming, the theme for our May hop is the retirement list.  And our fabulous guest designer is the Ink Paper Girl – Katrina Duffell.

I made two cards to share today featuring a range of retiring colours.  See all the Colour Revamp info by clicking here.

You’ll want to make sure you’ve got cardstock, ink, refills and embellishments to match any colours you’ll be keeping post retirement.   There’s lots of new colours to love, but if you’ve got a favourite, make sure you’re not chasing the ink refill at crazy prices after it retires.  They are only $6.50 and available until 31st May (unless they sell out earlier) in my online store.  Click here to browse.

There’s 3 pinks retiring from the range that I used in my first card.  Sweet Sugarplum from the In Colors range, Pink Pirouette from the Subtles and Rose Red from the Regals.

Retiring Pink Tones | kelly kent

Retiring products on this card include the Birthday Blooms stamp set, Painted with Love DSP & Brick Wall Embossing Folder.  All the DSP except Wood Textures is retiring – so add any favourites to your May order.Birthday Blooms | kelly kent

I’ll be blogging with Sweet Sugarplum right up til the last minute!!  And I’ve stocked up so I can keep using it in my craft space for years to come!  And Brick Wall is staying as well (I’m still shocked about that retirement!).

Birthday Blooms | kelly kent

There’s a big change of blues in the Colour Revamp.  We are losing Dapper Denim from the In Color range, Soft Sky & Marina Mist from the Subtles, Island Indigo from the Regals and Tempting Turquoise from the Brights.  I’ve featured three of these in my second card.

Retiring Blue Tones | kelly kent

The Feather Together stamp set formed the theme for this card.  I really loved this stamp set (and perhaps didn’t get nearly as much use from it as I should).  I’ll be keeping this in my stash for personal use as well.  Sweet Sugarplum feathers anyone???

Feather Together | kelly kent

The embellishments (banner & sentiment) are from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits.  I’m not sure I ever used these framelits to their full potential – it really is a great set.

Feather Together | kelly kent

There were lots of angles for my retirement projects. I’ve covered….

Colours I’ll miss: Sweet Sugarplum, Island Indigo

Colour I won’t miss: Soft Sky, Rose Red, Wild Wasabi

Stamp set I loved: Feather Together

Stamp set everyone else loved: Birthday Blooms

Embossing Folder I’m surprised to see retiring: Brick Wall

Totally Under-used Framelits: Mini Treat Bag

Embellishments I loved: Glitter Enamel Dots

Ribbon I loved: Island Indigo 1/4″ Ombre, 1/8″ Gold

Just Add Ink #394 | Romance

There’s nothing like a challenge deadline to raise the bar and get some of my to-do list done early!

Thanks to a fabulous theme of “Romance” by Nikki, it’s full steam ahead on the Valentine’s & anniversary cards required around here in Feb.

Image may contain: text

The first card I made for this challenge was very non-traditional.  I have no idea where the idea started, but I wanted to use the phrase ‘you are my sunshine’.

Just Add Ink #394 Romance | kelly kent

The Sunshine Wishes Thinlits have the cute ‘sunshine’ die, the stamp set has the ‘are my’ and the YOU is from the Sale-A-Bration set called Celebrate You.

Using the Multi-Purpose Adhesive sheets with the words is my favourite way to adhere them to my cards.  No messing around with liquid glue or tiny bits of tape.

Just Add Ink #394 Romance | kelly kent

The background was made by stamping the dandelions from Birthday Celebration in Versamark then heat embossing in white before spritzing and swirling some yellow & gamboge (orange) Brusho Crystal Color.  Add some glitter dots, a coordinating DSP background and my non-conventional romantic card is done.

Fun fact: I bought Brushos just so I’d be able to tell my customers what they are like…. and I can’t stop using them!

After my fun take on romance, I decided I should make a card in a similar style but with a more traditional colour theme and sentiment.

Just Add Ink #394 Romance | kelly kent

This card has a Sunshine Wishes Thinlit (love), Celebrate you Thinlit (YOU) and stamped sentiment (MORE), just like the other card.

Just Add Ink #394 Romance | kelly kent

It also has a Brusho background with cute emboss resist hearts from the Yay You stamp set – but pink Brusho???  It turns out if you add just a tiny tap of the Brilliant Red Brusho, you can achieve a gorgeous soft pink.  So many possibilities!!!

Two cards – one screams romance and one slides up quietly with a romantic gesture.  Do you have a favourite?

Just Add Ink #394 Romance | kelly kent

If you’d like a reason to start you V-Day card making early, or maybe you also have an anniversary in February, or you’ve got a wedding to go to, visit the Just Add Ink blog to join the challenge.

While you’re at the blog, you can see all the design team card – what a talented bunch, not to mention a collective group of some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet!

Thanks for sharing in the crafty fun with us!

Stamping Sunday Blog Hop | Brusho Crystal Color

Welcome!  THanks for joining us today for the first Stamping Sunday (forth Sunday) blog hop.  On the fourth Sunday of each month, I get the privilege of hopping with this amazing group of women, including for January our guest designer Stesha Bloodhart.

To see the full Stamping Sunday line-up, click on the cute blue frog below…

Even though this is our first hop for the month, I’ve already shared some Stamping Sunday projects with you – we put together a tutorial bundle for January full of projects based around the theme for this hop (Brusho Crystal Color) and the second Sunday hop.  5 great projects with detailed instructions & measurements on working with Brushos & Sale-A-Bration favourites.  You can find all the information here.

Today I have two fun projects to share with you working with the Brusho Crystal Color.  They are so much fun.  If you’re new to Brusho, check out my introductory post by clicking here.  This runs through the basics of different application techniques and styles.

The fastest and best way to get comfortable with using Brusho is to clear some work space, wear some old clothes and have a play!!!

They work with a range of different cardstock/paper materials including Watercolor Paper, Shimmery White cardstock and Thick Whisper White cardstock.

Within the Thick Whisper White category is our gorgeous Petal Passion DSP.  It’s made from a heavy white card, similar in texture to the Thick Whisper White – which makes it perfect for colouring.

My favourite technique for this cardstock, is to apply the powder to the DSP when it is dry, then spritz with a water filled Stampin’ Spritzer.

Stamping Sunday Brusho | kelly kent

The way the colour spreads is just magic!  I used a water filled Aqua Painter to move the colour through all of the flowers, creating a more concentrated colour in these areas.

Stamping Sunday Brusho | kelly kent

This technique is so easy.  Why not cut up a whole sheet of DSP into card front size pieces and get happy with colour!!!

Stamping Sunday Brusho | kelly kent

Cut the DSP into three equal panels, apply a different colour Brusho to each one and spritz & paint before adhering them to the card base in order.

Stamping Sunday Brusho | kelly kent

And finally for this set of cards, apply more than one colour to the DSP, with care to tap specific colours over specific flowers.  Spritz to spread the colour then use an Aqua Painter to fill in specific flowers & leaves with the colours that are most concentrated in that area.

Stamping Sunday Brusho | kelly kent

This was the first card I created using all 5 Brusho colours that I actually liked!!!

Stamping Sunday Brusho | kelly kent

These cards for me, highlights what I love most about Brusho – they give everyone the chance to be artistic & creative with colour, without needing to plan how that will happen!

Stamping Sunday Brusho | kelly kent

My second project focuses on the intense colours you can create using Brusho.  Because it’s a pigment colour, it has the potential to be so vibrant!

Stamping Sunday Brusho | kelly kent

You may have seen this butterfly on Pinterest and other social media sharing outlets.  It’s called Beautiful Day and is available in the Occasions catalogue.

You’re seeing it lots because it’s a fantastic stamp for showing off colour!!!

I’ve the used the yellow Brusho on Shimmery White for the watercolor background.  I wet the Shimmery White with my spritzer (seriously saturated), added Brusho colour and then spread with my Aqua Painter, leaving it to dry when I was happy with the colour & style of the wash.

Stamping Sunday Brusho | kelly kent

The butterfly was heat embossed in white on Shimmery White cardstock.  I then wet specific parts of the butterfly with large droplets of water from my Aqua Painter and added Brusho colour (Yellow, Gamboge & Brilliant Red) to the top before sprtizing to move the colour around.

Once dry, I fussy cut it the butterfly and attached both Brusho layers to an upright z-fold card.  This design folds flat for posting…

and sits up for displaying on the mantle…

and opens up with a space to write your message…

To make this card I cut a regular piece of A4 card in half long ways (cut at 4-1/8″, 10.5cm).  I scored at 3-15/16″ (7.4cm) and 5-7/8″ (14.8cm).

The Painted with Love DSP layer is 3-7/8″ x 5-5/8″ (10cm x 14.3cm).

The front panel is 3-3/8″  x 4-5/8″ (8.6cm x 11.7cm).  Shimmery White for Brusho is 3-1/8″ x 4-3/8″(8cm x 11cm).

Writing panel on the inside is 3-5/8″ x 2-1/2″ (9.2cm x 6.2cm) for the Rich Razzleberry and 3-5/8″ x 2-1/4″ (8.5cm  x 5.5cm) for the Whisper White layer.

It’s all anchored down when folded with a double layer of cardstock (Pumpkin Pie & Basic Black) in an exclusive Sale-A-Bration Thinlit set called Celebrate You.  This is free to earn for any purchase or workshop of $180 (Australian dollars).

Get started with Brusho….

CASEing the Catty #162 | Sweet Soiree

I’m excited to be hopping today with the CASEing the Catty Crew.

The theme for this beautiful Sunday is pages 10-14 of the Occasions Catalogue.  Most of this section is the gorgeous samples showcasing the Sweet Soiree Suite.

Image may contain: text

It was the shaker card on page 10 that caught my eye – the card below next to the yellow cake…

Sweet Soirée

I didn’t buy the stamp set & framelits from the Occasions catalogue – I started with the Sweet Soiree Embellishment Kit…

It’s full of the same elements & features of the stamp set and DSP – but already beautifully coloured and cut.

The embellishments formed the first theme for my CASEd shaker card…

CASEing the Catty #162 Sweet Soiree | kelly kent

I used a 4″ x 12″ piece of the Sweet Soiree DSP, scored at 6″, as the card base.  Because this is a specialty DSP, it’s crisp & strong.  Such a deluxe touch to have DSP across the whole card!

CASEing the Catty #162 Sweet Soiree | kelly kent

The flowers, ribbon & tassel are all from the embellishment kit.  The sentiment is from the Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set.  The shaker fill is silver glitter.

There’s two other Speciality Papers in the Occasions catalogue with the same texture/weight – Painted with Love and Myths & Magic.  So, I created two more variations using the same layout & styling.

Painted with Love…

CASEing the Catty #162 Painted with Love | kelly kent

This card has the new Gold Glitter Flakes as the shaker insert.  It doesn’t shake – but clings to the Window Sheet due to the high surface area & static content.  Cool effect!!!

Myths & Magic….

CASEing the Catty #162 Myths & Magic | kelly kent

The shaker component of this card is the Metallics Sequins.  Sequins are my go-to when I want a really good shaker insert!

How cute is the unicorn???

In a house of girls, it’s going to get a good workout here!

There’s so much I love in the Occasions catalogue.  I could buy the whole thing without taking a breath!

To see more beautiful projects using the Sweet Soiree Suite and other new products, click through the blog hop – the Crew have done a fabulous job (as always!).

From here, you’re visiting Queensland and the wonderful Megan Lenske.

If you’d like to join the challenge to CASE the gorgeous catalogue project, you can find the challenge page on Facebook.  Click here to take you to the Facebook page.

Thanks so much for visiting today.  I hope you have an amazing week!!!

ESAD Blog Hop | Occasions & SAB

No automatic alt text available.

Hello Sunday!  We’re about half way through the school holidays here and loving life!  How is your January going?

Today you’re joining us for the ESAD 2018 Occasions Catalogue Blog Hop.

ESAD is a Facebook group of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from Australia & New Zealand.  We share ideas, support each other and a couple of times a year some of the group unite for a blog hop.  You can see all the info about ESAD at the end of this post.

Each of the 23 participants on this hop will be sharing with you some of what they’ve been making with products they’ve bought from the new Occasions catalogue.

This month, thanks to her new catalogue purchases, Anne from my Paper Addventures team promoted to Bronze Elite!  Since joining, Anne has found a delightful balance of adding to her stash and sharing what she loves with others.

Anne’s achievements meant an opportunity for me to get creative with one of my new stamp sets that I knew was going to be amazing for team gifts & recognition as soon as I saw it!

It’s called Yay You and is full of encouraging and uplifting sayings!

This stamp set is hiding away in the host section of the Occasions catalogue – page 54.  Exclusive host stamp sets are only available to purchase using Stampin’ Rewards.  You can earn these on any order over $250 (your own order or combined totals at a workshop).

There’s a great special running during Sale-A-Bration where orders of $400 or more receive an extra $40 of rewards.  It’s a fantastic time to get your family & friends together for a craft session hosted by me and take advantage of all those rewards to be earned.

Enough chat… let me show you what I made for Anne….

Yay You & Painted with Love DSP | kelly kent

I combined the Yay You stamp set with the pretty Painted with Love DSP.

Although part of the “Valentine’s” offering in the Occasions catalogue, those shades of pink & gold are perfect for any occasion.

I’ve used Sweet Sugarplum, Blushing Bride, Berry Burst & Rich Razzleberry – left to right across the banner.  And then the fun triangle string in Fresh Fig.

Yay You & Painted with Love DSP | kelly kent

The DSP has beautiful gold elements, but this was a celebration of Anne’s {BRONZE} achievement so I mixed the metallics and added copper trim & copper embossing to the card.

Yay You & Painted with Love DSP | kelly kent

I also created a cute little gift bag for Anne’s gift.  Which was some Stampin’ Up! product and a personalised ruler for her emerging business identity.Personalised Ruler | kelly kent

The bag, made using two ‘fronts’ from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlit, has the same elements as the card – because I love a coordinating set!

Those banners – so pretty!

Anne joined last Sale-A-Bration and hasn’t looked back since!

At OnStage back in November 2017, we all received a new stamp set to take home as part of a giveaway called ‘Prize Patrol’.

I got this stunning set called Beautiful Day.

It’s a delight to stamp with!  The flower is pretty – but the butterfly…. oh my!!!

For this card, I heat embossed the butterfly in gold on vellum and coloured using Rich Razzleberry & Pink Pirouette Stampin’ Blends to create a stained glass effect.
