Painted Seasons DSP with a Healing Hug!

Sale-A-Bration

I’ve been dazzled and amazed by all the Sale-A-Bration choices in 2019.  Did you know we’ve had three separate releases?  You can see all the choices in the online store by clicking here.

One of my favourites is the Painted Seasons DSP – available as a level 1 product when you spend $90+ or in a bundle with the Painted Seasons stamp set when you spend $180+.

The colours in the DSP are so vibrant with a mix of pretty art patterns and bold geometric designs.

When it became available, I made the decision to just get the DSP.  I might have a little bit of buyers remorse now – as I’ve seen so many beautiful cards with the Painted Seasons stamp set.

But – as much as I’d like to buy one of everything, Mr Papercraft insists I spend money on other thing too (like feeding the kids!).

One of the things Stampin’ Up! do really well, is coordination across the range.  So, even though I don’t have the Painted Seasons stamp set, I do have lots of other lovely stamp sets and found that the large rose – also a Distinktive style of stamp – goes really well with this DSP.

My team made their choice of these cards at our most recent team meeting as the make & take project.

I love using the art patterns as whole backgrounds for a card.  I’ve then added the largest Stitched Circle in Wood Textures DSP, a Stitched Rectangle embossed with the Country Floral Embossing Folder (another of my favourite Sale-A-Bration choices), Polka Dot ribbon, Healing Hug rose and the Happy Birthday from Well Said on another Stitched Rectangle.  I do love the stitched die options – how did we ever craft without them?

The rose in this version is Poppy Parade to coordinate with the DSP.

And the rose in this version is Blushing Bride…

If you ever have issues with the Distinktive stamps not giving you a crisp image, try using an old credit card or store card to scrape the ink to one end of your ink pad.  Then apply ink from the end with less ink.  Less is more for the Distinktive stamps.  Another suggestion is to ink the stamp up with a sponge dauber or brayer.

As well as Sale-A-Bration choices in March, there’s also a promotion running with extras that coordinate with your Sale-A-Bration favourites.  Love the frogs but hate fussy cutting?  During March (while stocks last), you can buy the coordinating framelits!

Sale-A-Bration Coordination

There’s also framelits for Hello Cupcake, Lasting Lily and Painted Seasons plus a new punch (Story Label) and an exclusive stamp set (More Than Words).  Click here to see all the Sale-A-Bration coordination products in my online store.  These items are purchase only – they do not have to be earned.

Every current Stampin’ Up! item – catalogue & special promotions – can be found in my online store.  Click here to browse.

February – why are you leaving us so quick???

I know February is the shortest month of the year, but this one just zipped by me!  Things at Papercraft HQ went into serious overdrive – three kids to keep alive, three houses to look after, a birthday, some anniversaries, the start of school, resuming card making classes for the year and so much more meant every day was a whirlwind of activity!

With all that happening, it’s only in the final moment of February I’m marking some things off my to-do list – like posting birthday cards for friends!  They will arrive in March, but I posted them in February – so it still counts!!!

I’ve always appreciated having a birthday month, so hopefully the recipients will too!

I made these cards using some Occasions Catalogue favourites and also a new DSP available as a Level 2 Sale-A-Bration reward.  See the second release catalogue by clicking here.  The Painted Seasons DSP comes in a bundle with a floral stamp set – available to redeem when your order reaches $180.

I like to make multiples of cards with subtle differences.  Easy changes – like a different size butterfly in this case – give you a different card for minimal design effort.  Other easy changes are – changing the orientation or using different colours or DSP.

The second card used the same die set, but the large butterfly as the centrepiece.

Both cards have the same bokeh dots in Poppy Parade, Grapefruit Grove & Blushing Bride (to coordinate with the DSP) on a Rectangle Label (of course!), a Stitched Label die cut and a heat embossed sentiment.  The sentiment is cut down from the ‘FRIENDSHIP’ stamp in the Beauty Abounds set.  I always love it if I can get multiple uses from the words in a set.

And those dots – I’m still in love!  I originally bought the Beauty Abounds stamp set just for the dots.  And I have no regrets!

The stamp set also has a lovely flourish that I thought would look nice on the inside of the card.  Seems to be the month for extra decorating!  I love colouring with my Stampin’ Blends – they are so smooth and luxurious!

Here’s hoping that March is a little slower in pace but just as full of love, happiness and fun!

CASEing the Catty #216 | Sale-A-Bration

Hi there!  How was your weekend?  I seem to always start these posts by telling you what kind of weather we had over the weekend.  It’s summer here in Australia so it should be scorching hot – and it some parts of the country it is.  But right now in Bunbury, we’re averaging a maximum of 30 during the day and an overnight minimum of 15 degrees (that’s in celsius).  It’s glorious!  Sunny days as far as I can see!!!

The downside to such lovely weather is less time spent indoors, so I’m pulling together craft projects when I can find the time!  Sleep?  Who needs to be in bed before midnight???

The theme for CASEing the Catty this week has rolled back around to Sale-A-Bration – which is handy because we’ve hit the half way mark and Stampin’ Up! have released some cute new products to earn!  You can view the second release brochure by clicking here.

No photo description available.

As a demonstrator, I was able to pre-order some of these amazing products during the first half of the month.  It’s lovely to be able to access #demoperks!!!  You can too if you join my Paper Adventures team!

My absolute hands-down, no-question favourite item from the second release is the Country Floral Embossing Folder.  It’s soooooooo pretty!  It’s often hard to see the full texture & detail of embossing folders in catalogues, so I hope you’ve got another $90 on your wishlist and you can redeem this gorgeous folder for yourself.

This is the card I chose to CASE from the second release Sale-A-Bration catalogue.

Initially when I looked at this I thought they’d embossed DSP and it was the DSP that had provided the colour.  When I couldn’t see this pattern in the DSP I realised they’d coloured all the individual elements of the embossed image – wow!!!

By this point though, I was kind of excited to emboss DSP.  Other than cutting it, I rarely tamper with DSP – it was time to change things up!!!

My DSP of choice for this card was another new Sale-A-Bration product – the DSP available in the Painted Seasons bundle (DSP + stamp set).  I ran it through the Big Shot with the Country Floral embossing folder and then rubbed a sponge dauber across the raised surfaces using Coastal Cabana ink.  It was very rough and I love the effect of the coloured embossed sections and the natural pattern of the DSP underneath.

I finished the card with the ‘amazing’ sentiment from the Incredible Like You stamp set, some Mint Macron Nature’s Twine (from the Annual Catalogue), White Flax Ribbon and a Butterfly Element coated in Frost White Shimmer Mist.

This card was so much fun, I decided to create another couple of colour combinations.

Here it is in Blushing Bride using Tropical Escape DSP…

And also in Rich Razzleberry using a pattern from the Tea Room DSP.  This one was a little more interesting as the butterflies on the DSP form part of the image!

By some crazy coincidence, the colours in the Nature’s Twine pack matched my DSP choices perfectly!  I’m just missing a Crumb Cake creation!!!

Join our challenge this week by creating a project inspired by the pages of either of the Sale-A-Bration catalogues.  Click here to share it in our Facebook group.

There’s more great inspiration to come – keep following the hop by clicking on the ‘next’ icon.

From here, you’re heading to Rockhampton (much hotter days & nights there at the moment!) to visit Elizabeth Gross.  Liz and I have been giggling at week at how similar a couple of our projects are – we’re very much on the same creative wavelength at the moment!!

Thanks for joining us!!!  Have a great week!
