I’ve finally found the time to share the samples I created for OnStage in Brisbane in early November (so only a month late!!!).

What an amazing experience – one that I urge you to apply for next time Stampin’ Up! puts the call out for display board stampers.

Check out the calibre of demos I displayed with!

I had some great products to play with from the Succulent Garden Suite.

This gorgeous stamp set called “Oh So Succulent”….

Plus this 2-step stamp set called Vertical Garden…

I also got other goodies in my box, which formed the theme for my creations including new cotton ribbon in Whisper White & Sweet Sugarplum, Succulent Garden Cardstock (Mint Macaron, Old Olive & Tip Top Taupe), Fabulous Foil Acetate, Bermuda Bay Ombre ink pad, glassine gift bags, gold clips, and more!

And with those wonderful products at my fingertips plus some of my current favourites, this is what I created to share with other demonstrators at the 2016 OnStage event in Brisbane.

Let’s start with the succulents…

Everyone loves a good pun – and this stamp set is perfect for ‘succ’ulent puns!

A popcorn gift box (filled with jellybeans in a glassine bag) and tied off with gorgeous Sweet Sugarplum cotton ribbon.

The happy birthday sentiment is stunning.

I love the font they’ve used in the Oh So Succulent stamp set!

This is my favourite card – one of the great sentiments paired with a Hello Lovely Project life card in the place of DSP!

Of course I had to have a traditional succulent rock garden…

A card for Mum using the “Happy Mother’s Day” sentiment and those cute succulents as flowers…

And a gift card folder decorated with a ribbon flower (the ribbon is soooo soft & beautiful!)…

This card is a little left field – I thought the little oval stamp in the set looked like a jelly bean….

Another favourite – this is my scrapbook page with a centrepiece photo of my girls in their fairy garden, surrounded by a succulent swirl – and the sweet sentiment “the best love story is the one you write together’.

So true for sisters!

Here’s the girls with their scrapbook page when they visited me during lunch one day!

{Looking at the camera is not a strength at this moment!}

A shaker card using one of the small flowers to create a background pattern…

And then there’s the projects featuring the Vertical Garden stamp set…

A housewarming gift – stamped glassine bag filled with a seed packet…

A “Hello baby” card…

A Project Life style memory page – this is my parents who just moved closer to us after spending 33 years in the same house!

And a foxy z-fold welcome card that could be used for a baby or housewarming…

After making so many succulent samples, I thought I’d never want to look at another succulent stamp again.

But, guess what???  It’s a firm favourite and I’ve used it so much since getting home from Brisbane.

Succulents are so trendy at the moment!

The stamp set comes with dies, which just arrived yesterday and I’m excited to use (fussy cutting succulents has not been the most fun part of the creating!).

There’s also a truly beautiful DSP!!!

So, as my new catalogue stash grows, I promise to share more samples with you!!!  You’ll fall in love too!

I’m expecting catalogues next week.  You can pick up yours at my launch, at the next class you attend or if you’re not local, ask me to send you one by filling in the form below.

OnStage 2016 Swaps – CASEing the Catty

Hello! Today I’m sharing with you my other swap from OnStage 2016 – another shrink plastic project. It’s such a lovely product to make our Stampin’ Up! supplies shine in different ways.

Did you see my I ❤️ SU! keychain on yesterday’s post? Check here for all the technical shrink info.

For this card, I used black shrink plastic & the reindeer die from the Santa’s Sleigh set to make …

Because it was a swap with the CASEing the Catty design team, I wanted to choose something from the Holiday Catalogue to inspire me.

After much deliberation, I ended up choosing the layout on the left from one of the host set sample photos.

I made it as a peekaboo card with the DSP adhered to the inside layer of the card and the embellishments (Washi, burlap & reindeer feature) to the top layer.

In keeping with my love this Christmas of non-traditional colour combinations, the black shrink plastic was perfect for my neutral theme – craft, black & copper.

It was really hard to get a good photo of just how cute the teeny tiny reindeer was, but I tried!!!

This is my reindeer embellishment before I added him to the card…

And on the card…

On this photo, you can see what a cool 3D event the reindeer adds!

You could make any solid shape with a large starting size into a shrink embellishment. There were some reindeer fails too when the legs started sticking during the curl process – a shape without appendages would be easier!!!

I’d love to see your shrink projects!!!

OnStage 2016 Swaps – SU! Keychains

Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com

OnStage is over until the next events in April 2017!!! What a blast I had!!!

Each event gets better and better! As my papercraft journey continued,  I met so many people, put faces to names & reacquainted with some stamping favourites.

I was lucky enough to experience it all with Kristel, who is part of my Paper Adventures team.

There’s a blockout period until Tueday, so I can’t start sharing all the new things from the upcoming Occaions & Sale-A-Bration catalogues just yet.

While we wait for tomorrow to tick over, I’ll share the swap item I made to share with other demos.  Swapping is a fun, voluntary part of Stampin’ Up! events where demos make samples to share with other attendees. Often, these are the same item, mass produced.

I decided, in some sort of crazy brainwave that using the Large Letters (Letters for You stamp set) and red glitter embossing powder, I’d be able to create a fun Stampin’ Up momento keychain!!!

Thankfully the plan came to life and Mr Papercraft & I made over 100 of these little gems.

I know you’re wondering how we made them!!!

The secret is shrink plastic! For this project I used clear shrink plastic (Graffix band). I’m going to add the starting size when I get home again – I’ve forgotten!

The shrink factor for this project was about 50% of the original size. But, the brands vary, so check the brand before you buy.

I stamped the letters in Black Archival ink, leaving a space for the heart and gave it 24 hours drying time. You probably don’t need this much, but it does need a little bit of time or it might smudge during the embossing process.

I then used the sweetheart punch to create a mask/template, sponged versamark ink onto the plastic through the template and added Real Red glitter embossing powder.

The corners were rounded using my Envelope Punch Board (this is best done before you start stamping) and a 1/4″ hole punched in the top left hand corner.

To transform, they need a visit to the oven. Follow the instructions that came with your shrink plastic for suggested heat & time. Mine took a couple of minutes at 150 degrees Celsius.

Watching shrink plastic warp & set is awesome. We lost a few along the way – crafting is not an exact science.

Did you know that  keychain is special!?! Some got a good glitter shower while they baked, some of the hearts spread and some of the letters ran. They were all made with love & I hope the demos that received them loved them as much as I loved making them!!

The final step was adding the keychain – one of Mr Papercraft’s many responsibilities! – and packaging them up!

Then, they made the big trip east!

But not before I added one to my keys first!

I have one more shrink plastic project to share with you tomorrow that was inspired by the catty for the CASEing the Catty team.

I’ll also be sharing more OnStage fun including the projects I made for my display board, swaps I received and a sneak peak of what you can expect in the new catalogues!!!

It’s a fun time of year! If you’re a bit impatient about SU! news, you’re welcome to join us at Paper Adventures anytime! We have an exclusive Facebook page, with instant access for all team members. Want to know how to ‘get on the inside’? Ask me now!!!

Until tomorrow,
