Just Add Ink #408 | Colour Challenge

We have a fabulous colour challenge for you at Just Add Ink this week.

Image may contain: text

Pink & green is one of my favourite combinations and the light & dark variations in this combination is just magical!!!  This gem was chosen by Rochelle – make sure to check out her beautiful card!!!

By a very happy coincidence, this colour challenge came at a perfect time for me.  Melon Mambo & Pear Pizzazz were the wedding theme colours for one of my besties – who celebrated her 6th wedding anniversary on the weekend.

For this year’s card, I chose a fun theme using the cute Hedgehugs stamp set.

For some extra sparkle, I used my clear Wink of Stella pen to do all the colouring for this card.  I love that it’s glittery and pretty all at the same time!

The Number of Years stamp set provided the Happy Anniversary sentiment.  You’ll find this set (and the coordinating Large Numbers) on the Last Chance retirement list – don’t miss out if they are on your wishlist!

You can see all the Last Chance items in my online store – visit by clicking here.

Also visit the Just Add Ink blog to enter the colour challenge and see the design team cards for this week (so pretty!).

Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks for joining us for another Colour INKspiration challenge.

Can you believe we’re up to #19???  Your support has been amazing!

If you haven’t joined us yet over on Facebook, click here to be taken to our Facebook group.

Let me share the colours for challenge #19 with you – they are divine!!!

Image may contain: outdoor

Yellow, gray & white is one of my all-time favourite colour combinations.

I admit, I don’t love the green in there (for the project I wanted to make) but the design team have used it as a wonderful contrast.

October happens to be an anniversary month for friends of mine.

And, by happy coincidence, their wedding colours were yellow & gray!

How amazing was the beautiful yellow bridesmaid dress I got to wear – total princess moment!

So, I’ve used this challenge to make a sweet anniversary card…

Colour INKspiration #19 | kelly kent

As a striking background, I’ve used the silver snowflakes in a repeated pattern.

Colour INKspiration #19 | kelly kent

The anniversary sentiment is courtesy of the Number of Years stamp set.

‘Anniversary’ was too long for the Classic Label punch, so I had to improvise using a pencil & template!  It’s always fun to be creative with our cardmaking pieces!

Colour INKspiration #19 | kelly kent

As for Garden Green – I snuck it in for the ‘th’!

I would have been totally happy to leave it out – but the challenge rules made me hide it there!

This wasn’t the only anniversary card I needed to make for October.  It seems October is a popular month for weddings amongst my friends!

Another set of friends are celebrating one sweet year together.

This is their card….

1st Wedding Anniversary | kelly kent

I made it to match the colours & styling of their wedding card.

The anniversary sentiment for this card came from the Milestone Moments stamp set.  I love that font!!

Do you send anniversary cards to the couples whose weddings you’ve attended?

I’ve tried hard over the years, but since my record keeping system is scattered (and that’s a kind description!), they often sneak up on me!!!

A card in the mail is always wonderful, especially when it’s not expected.

That is all I have to share with you today!

Please continue the hop to see the fabulous project my gorgeous friend Lou Kitzelman has made using these colours…

Don’t forget, you can join in the challenge fun over on the Colour INKspiration Facebook group.

Thanks for hopping with us!

CASEing a Coffee Card

I hit up the catalogue this week for a card using the Coffee Cafe stamp set.

Do you ever use your catalogue for inspiration?

CASEing refers to “Copy And Share Everything” or “Copy And Selectively Edit”.

When I first joined Stampin’ Up!, the Annual Catalogues were marketed as ‘ideas books’.  And it’s such a good description.

The pages are filled with ideas for colour combinations, layouts, techniques & other ways you can use your Stampin’ Up! supplies.

This gorgeous photo shows so many ideas for the Coffee Break Suite…

Coffee Break Designer Series Paper

Cards inspired from the catalogue can either be a direct copy of what you see, a mix of elements or a starting point for your own creation.

Coffee Break | kelly kent

My finished card used the layout at the right of the catalogue photo, the DSP background from the card above it and added some copper heat embossing & woodgrain textured embossing (which I have realise as I write this, is not longer current!).

If you already love using the catalogue for inspiration, or if it’s a new concept to you, you might want to join our CASEing the Catty Facebook page.

Each week we select a catalogue category or theme and set a challenge for you to ‘CASE’ the catalogue.

I find my best creations often come out of challenges!

Be inspired!

Christmas 2016 – Santa Photos

Since it’s the last day of the Holiday Catalogue, it’s probably fitting that today’s post is a throwback to Christmas.

I picked up the girls Santa photos today- late, I know!  I only get Santa photos so there’s some consistent record of them growing up, because, as you know, I’m terrible at all other memory keeping!!!

The photos were super cute, but didn’t come with a special folder, so I decided to make my own – in scrapbook style!

It was fun to pull out some Christmas things again (especially my reindeer die) and make it all pretty.

And of course, add in some new pretties (lace doilies – so in love!) to frame the photos…

The Large Number Framelits are fabulous for scrapbooking because of their grand size!

Goodbye to Christmas 2016!  Unless you want to place one last order from the Holiday Catalogue.  You can shop in my online store until 9pm (WA) time tonight.  The host code for January is YBEWYEMH.

From tomorrow, it’s all about 2017 with the release of the Occasions and Sale-A-Bration catalogues!

Party Girl Invites v2 – GDP#43

What a well-timed challenge from the Global Design Project team!

The Littlest Miss turns 3 this month, so it was time to make invites {again}.

I wanted to continue on with the theme I started last year with a black silhouette of a little miss and a burst of colour.

Last year it was balloons…

Party Girl Invites. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

This year the party is at the local fun centre, so it’s all about the ball pit!

Party Girl Invites 2016. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

How fun are those party colours???  They make a great colour palette for baby wipe stamping.

Conveniently, each invited guest has a different initial.  So I went with striking simplicity when addressing their invites – courtesy of the Large Letters Framelits.

Bold & Striking Initial Letters to address party invites. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

I had everything crossed that Stampin’ Up! would add them to the range in 2016 – and they came through for me!!!  I’m looking forward to getting lots more use out of them!

Card Style of the Moment – Pop Out Swing Card

I’m a very ‘of the moment’ card maker.  I find a style I love, make a bundle of cards and then move on to my next favourite.  I’m not very timely with my trends (usually months behind everyone else) – but that just means there’s all the more samples out there to inspire me!

This style of card is called a Pop Out Swing Card and it’s amazing!

The card sits flat for posting, but when you open it, the middle panel sits within the card front and makes it 3D and fabulous!

You know what else is fabulous? The creativity of Debbie Henderson – I have a super craft crush at the moment.  I love her work and have found myself linking you back to a number of her projects over recent months.  The Pop Out Swing Card is another gem from Debbie’s Designs.  You can find Debbie’s samples & instructional video here.

These are my versions of the Pop Out Swing card – it’s definitely a wow design!  I’ve had such fun making these – and each one looks so different, even though the card basics are the same!

I’m definitely be making a few more of these and then I’ll be on the lookout for the next card of the moment.

Seen or made any ‘wow’ designs?  Leave me a comment and I’ll be sure to check them out!  Kelly x

Just Add Numbers… Or Not!

The challenge over at Just Add Ink #301 this week is to add numbers.

The Large Numbers bundle makes this challenge a piece of cake – they are just so easy to use!

But, to complicate matters, and to mix things up a little (I’ve done quite a few cards with numbers of late), I have decided to take the numbers away – and use the negative as my centrepiece.

So, this is my challenge card – Just Take Away the Numbers…

Just Add Ink #301 - Numbers. Large Numbers negative card with Number of Years stamp set & Pretty Petals Paper stack. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

I think no numbers is just as good as adding numbers.  Do you think so too?  Kelly x

Largely Fabulous Numbers!

Have I mentioned before how much I love the Large Numbers Framelits and matching Number of Years stamp set?  I can only hope that they add them to the Annual Catalogue and bring out a matching set of Large Alphabet Framelits.  A girl can dream – right?

These cards were all made for special milestone birthdays using the Large Numbers / Number of Years bundle.  The big numbers are fabulous for a milestone birthday where you want the number to be the special centrepiece!

Note: to meet some specific requirements for these cards, I have use a few retired Stampin’ Up! products – can you spot them?

“Embossible to Resist” You …. Happy Anniversary!

If there was an award for the worst blog post pun of the year – this might win it!

I try to think of quirky things to call my blog posts to keep it interesting, but this one made me groan out loud.  Then it was too good (bad) to ‘resist’.  Oh dear!

The title is a play on the emboss resist background (and ‘impossible to resist’… just in case my sense of humour is too quirky for you!), here is Mr P’s wedding anniversary card…

Emboss Resist Love Bug Anniversary Card - featuring Beautiful Ride, Number of Years and Kinda Ecletic stamp sets together with Color Me Irresistible Specialty DSP. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com. Funnily enough, Stampin’ Up! aren’t shy of a few quirky titles themselves.  The spotty background is from the Color Me Irresitible Specialty DSP pack which has 6 sheets of white/clear emboss resist papers and 6 sheets of coloured/clear embossed papers.  They are super cool – ready for you to add your own touch.

To create my background, I selected the white/clear spotty design and stamped the Kinda Eclectic sun in Hello Honey.  I then sponged Blushing Bride ink over the sun image and Pool Party ink around it, making sure to overlap the colours a bit and get a purple tinge as well.  I love the end result!  I don’t do much sponging – but I should!  It’s lots of fun!

The Love Bug is from the Beautiful Ride stamp set (can you beleive this is the first time I have inked it up!  Don’t worry, it’ll be getting lots more use!), stamped on to the recently available Perfectly Artistic Sale-A-Bration DSP.

And that lovely senitment is from the Number of Years stamp set.

Happy Anniversary Mr P!  It might be a week late, but I’m told that love is patient & kind!  Kelly x

Happy 30th Little Bro!

Today my ‘baby’ brother (who has been much taller than me for most of my life) turns the big 3-0!  He tells me that not much will change, but he might grow up… and not just in height! We’ll see!

He’s an avid hiker, so I used the Woodland Embossing Folder (currently unavailable, but due back in 2016), the new Sky Is The Limit Sale-A-Bration set and the super awesome Number of Years and Large Numbers bundle from the upcoming Occasions catalogue.

30th Birthday Card - Large Number Framelits Number of Years stamp set & Sky Is The Limit SAB stamp set. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

You’ll want to get the Large Numbers as part of a bundle because the stamp set is fabulous – with beautiful watercoloured numbers, great sentiments and also some flowers and flourishes.  At $85.75, you’re most of the way to the $90 SAB spend – which means add another $5 to your order and you can choose the limited edition Sky Is The Limit stamp set.

And if you’re short of ideas for things to try – try the Gold Wink of Stella pen – I’m am totally in love with these pens.  They just lift the whole project with a touch of shimmer.  And as you can see, shimmer is not just for girly cards!

Gold Wink of Stella pen - featured in the Occasions 2016 catalogue. Large Numbers & Number of Years bundle. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

Did you notice that I said Sky Is The Limit is a “limited edition”???  (I wonder if SU! intended for that pun?).  That’s right – 3 of the Sale-A-Bration items (pages 16 – 19) are only available until 15 February, so if they are your favourites, you’ll want to redeem them first.  The great news is that Stampin’ Up! will release more limited edition SAB items on 16th Feb!!!  And you get one free item with EVERY $90, so while some of them might be limited editions, there is no limit to the amount of Sale-A-Bration items you can collect.

Happy Birthday little bro – hope the next decade is truly awesome and that ‘growing up’ goes well!  The Papercraft Family x
