Twas the Week Before Christmas | most wonderful time of the year

If you’ve seen my other Christmas posts, you’ll see that my Christmas style is varied and although there’s some red & green in there, my favourite Christmas creations are usually of the non-traditional colour combination kind.

Here’s some of the colourful fun of Christmas 2020….

Today I’m adding this sweet card with pastel tones to the collection.

CASEing the Catty #148 | Kits and Memories & More

Hello!  Happy school holidays!

It’s the middle weekend of the holidays here and we’ve finally had sunshine in the last couple of days!

We’re still yet to hit what I would consider warm, but the fact that the sun is shining is a great start!

{Note the nice bright -natural – light for my photos!!!}

Image may contain: text

Welcome to a CASEing the Catty blog hop.

This talented team of designers are taking you on a creative journey that showcases how they’ve been inspired by the kits and Memories & More pages in the Annual or Holiday Catalogue.

We’d love for you to join in via our Facebook page.

I’m not sure if it’s because I’ve been sharing the virtues of this kit with my customers & friends, but I was drawn to the sample that we’ve used in the CTC graphic above!

The Watercolor Christmas Project Kit is fabulous.

It’s bright & fun without being silly and amazingly economical for a handmade Christmas card!

The kit is $35 (20 cards & gold lined envelopes!).  You can buy the coordinating stamp set – or use Christmas stamps that you already own.

From now until the beginning of December, I am offering this kit for $35 – all made up and ready to send to your favourite 20 people this Christmas.

It’s the perfect offer for people who love handmade but doesn’t have the time or inclination to make their own cards this year.

Local delivery is included, or I can post Australia wide for $8.50.

If you’d like to order a Watercolor Christmas Kit (made for you, or so you can make it yourself), send me an email or contact me via my Facebook page.

Now, apart from the kit being a great option for cards this Christmas, those easy to replicate layouts are a perfect option if you want to design your own cards using the materials you have at home.

I’ve chosen the third card along in the picture – it’s one of my all time favourite layouts and I use it all the time!

That big white space seemed like the perfect option for the newest stamp in my collection – one that I adore – the so-so-cute reindeer from the Merry Patterns stamp set.

CASEing the Catty #148 Project Kit | kelly kent

This exclusive stamp set is only available as a hostess reward during September & October 2017.

Want to add him to your collection?  Gather your family & friends and collect orders of $450 or more and the Merry Patterns stamp set will be yours to own (see the end of this post for a complete graphic).

This card features the kit colour theme – Real Red, Emerald Envy & Basic Black.

If you’re ever not sure what the coordinating colours are for a kit or DSP, check back with your catalogue as the full colour range is always listed.

The Stampin’ Up! Online Store is also a great reference for current products.

Now, as cute as this card is, we all know I favour non-traditional Christmas colours for my cards.

So, I couldn’t resist another version in pink & gray, inspired by Lou Kitzelman’s Merry Patterns card for Colour INKspiration last week.

CASEing the Catty #148 Project Kit | kelly kent

This is more my style!

Same cute reindeer….

CASEing the Catty #148 Project Kit | kelly kent

Same embellishments!

Just a change up of colours – Sweet Sugarplum & Smoky Slate with Wood Textures DSP.

I also shifted the centrepiece down the card for a same-same-but-different variation.

Making cards in pairs like this is one of my favourite ways to add ‘more’ without more effort!

Which style do you favour?

Modern on the left, traditional on the right?

After my super long blog post today (still excited to be back sharing with you!), the next stop for CASEing the Catty is the gorgeous Rose Packer.

Thanks for hopping with us!

Traditional Reindeer Christmas

Modern Reindeer Christmas

Stamp Review Crew – Christmas Pines

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!!  How’s your list going?

Are you super organised and have all of your cards made, addressed & sent???

I am {NOT} that person – I’ll still be making cards right up to the last minute!!!

I’m sure a list would help, but there’s always someone I seem to forget.

I love giving gifts – it’s a great time to express to those around you how much you care, how much they mean to you or that you appreciate their contribution to your life.

We leave presents out for the postie & rubbish collectors, I give treats to my hairdresser & beautician and then there’s family, friends, teachers….

It’s the most wonderful time of year!!!  But a busy one!

I’m excited about today’s Stamp Review Crew hop – I can’t wait to see what the crew has designed using the Christmas Pines stamp set.

It comes with coordinating thinlits – so there’s everything to love about this festive set!

Now, I don’t actually own this bundle, but I have a lovely customer who extends me the most wonderful privilege of using her products before I deliver them if there’s something she’s ordered that I want to try.  I really do have the best customers!

After using the Christmas Pines stamp set and Pretty Pines Thinlits (**buy as a bundle to save 10%**), I’m sad that they aren’t staying on my craft table!

What a beautiful set!!!  I particularly love the sentiments – and the ‘may your Christmas sparkle with joy & happiness’ saying was the inspiration point for my cards for this hop.

I’m still on my non-traditional colour love fest, so today it’s Sweet Sugarplum again!

I used the little heart detail stamps to create borders for each card and the sparkle background stamp for my present.  Add some glimmer for a bit more sparkle!!

And then of course that delightful sentiment – heat embossed in gold or silver!

Or SPP & silver?

It’s a tough call!  I just love both of these cards.

If I was getting a gorgeous handmade card for Christmas – either of these would just delight me to no end!!!

Do you think I can send myself a Christmas card?  Perhaps with a Stampin’ Up! gift voucher inside??

Next stop for more great Christmas inspiration is one of our newest crew members – Charlet Mallett.  I can’t wait to see what she’s created!

Good luck with your Christmas card making.

May all the special people in your life get the good DSP & straight cards!!!

Just Add Ink #339 – Sketch

Just Add Ink Design Team

I love a good sketch!  And for me, this is one of the best.  Thanks Narelle!!!

Just Add Ink #339 Sketch

This sketch has great simple elements that make it easy to layer up your favourite shapes into a unique card!

Make sure to visit the main Just Add Ink blog page – the design team has come up with some sensational examples of where this sketch can end up!

It’s still a non-traditional Christmas here at Papercraft HQ, so to go with the sketch, I’m trying out a Bermuda Bay & silver combination.

And my love affair with Santa’s reindeer continues.  I’m fond of a good silhouette!

And I’m even more exited because Santa and his reindeer are not retiring just yet!!!

If you’ve got some time at the craft table, please join us for the Just Add Ink sketch challenge.

Joyful Christmas

The ladies were lovely in humouring my love of non-traditional Christmas cards!!

We made this ‘sweet’ pink & silver card, using the Wonderful Year stamp set.

You could make a rainbow of these cards!  If you’ve still got cards to make, it’s a great way to craft in bulk!

This is how I Stamp-A-Stack – Christmas 2016

On Saturday, I hosted 8 lovely ladies for a Christmas Stamp-A-Stack.

What is a Stamp-A-Stack?  Typically, it’s a chance to make cards in bulk.  The card designs are a little simpler, but you walk away with more.

For this reason, they are perfect for Christmas where people often send cards in larger numbers.

When planning my S-A-S, I decided we were going to make 12 cards – 4 each of 3 designs.

The ad went out, and not only did I fill the class I’d advertised, but I filled another one as well!!!

Now, despite knowing that the cards needed to be stripped back a little so we could get through them in the class time, I’m not so good at simple and just love to spoil my class participants with interesting cards.

So, even though I promised 4 cards of 3 designs, I actually ended up making 2 variations of each design so we actually had 2 each of 6 designs in the end.

So, here’s what I ended up thinking of as my the deluxe S-A-S of 2016!!!

Card 1 – a variation of my shrink reindeer CTC swap from OnStage

Card 2 – a silver & purple variation of the card above!

Card 3 – peekaboo tree card using Build A Birthday

Card 4 – peekaboo tree card using Warmth & Cheer washi tape

Christmas 2016 Stamp-A-Stack. Kelly Kent -

Card 5 – stitched card using Letters for You stamps

Christmas 2016 Stamp-A-Stack. Kelly Kent -

Card 6 – stitched card using Merry Tags bauble & Large Letters

Christmas 2016 Stamp-A-Stack. Kelly Kent -

The ladies loved the cards and were just fantastic at getting through all my ‘deluxe’ designs within the class time!

I helped them a little by doing some of the elements before the class (like the cute little reindeers) so there wasn’t too much wait time.

Do you have a favourite from the stack of cards?  I think mine is one of the stitched letter cards – maybe the JOY?!

I know they’ll all come in handy when it’s time to start sending cards.  How’s your stash looking?

If you need more supplies, don’t forget my November promotion.  All online orders using the host code TGEH7KV6 during November will go in the draw for $100 of Stampin’ Up! products.

Happy shopping!

CASEing the Catty #98 Warmth & Cheer

Happy Sunday!  This post comes to you from my idyllic camping location in country WA!

How’s the serenity???

Today at CASEing the Catty, it’s all about Warmth & Cheer – I could do with some warm right now!!!

Someone forgot to tell the Weather Man that we’re firmly in Spring!

Images © Stampin' Up!

We’re CASEing projects from pages 12-17 of the Holiday Catalogue.

I love the swirly scribbles wreath from this card on page 17.

Images © Stampin' Up!

I used it to inspire 3 completely different Christmas cards!!!

Start with a catalogue picture and think of 3 ways to change it up.

It’s a great way to craft in bulk, but ending up with 3 different finished projects.

For the first card, I changed the orientation of the card, but kept the colours, washi strip and double layer wreath the same as the catalogue inspiration.

This is one of the easiest ways to change up a card without thinking too much about it!

CASEing the Catty - Warmth & Cheer. Swirly Scribbles Wreath. Kelly Kent -

The next version uses the catalogue sample as a starting point to inspire a completely different design.

I added banners instead of a cardstock & washi panel, a one layered wreath, a die cut bow and a layered sentiment.

CASEing the Catty - Warmth & Cheer. Swirly Scribbles Wreath. Kelly Kent -

And the final card has the same layout, but in non-traditional Christmas colours of purple & gold.

CASEing the Catty - Warmth & Cheer. Swirly Scribbles Wreath. Kelly Kent -

Apart from the wonderfully clever samples that the catalogue offers, I love the versatility of the designs.

I don’t have the Be Jolly, By Golly stamp set used for the sentiment in the sample – so I just substituted words from other sets in my collection.

Most of the products used in my cards come from the Annual Catalogue – using a Holiday Catalogue sample!

I hope I’ve been able to inspire you to get into your craft room and CASE something from the Warmth & Cheer section of the Holiday Catalogue.

It’d be great if you shared your creation on the CTC page.

Each month the team chooses a winning entry & invites the winner to take part in the design team blog hop the following month!

The challenge is open to anyone – in Australia and beyond.  Could it be you???

If you’ve just started here, you’ll want to hop all the way around until you get back to me.

The last stop before me is Julia Quinn & her great project and the next stop on the hop is the wonderfully talented Jackie Noble in NZ!

CASEing the Catty #96 Big Shot

Thanks for joining me as the last stop on the CASEing the Catty hop featuring favourite Big Shot products / projects from the Holiday Catalogue.

Images © Stampin' Up!

If you didn’t start the beginning, keep hopping til you get back to where you started and make sure you see all the amazing creations.

Did you love what Judy created???  She’s got style!

I love all things Big Shot, so choosing a favourite was a tough task.

As I flicked through the catalogue, I kept coming back to the samples featuring the Starlight thinlits.

This is definitely one of my favourite bundles.

Star of Light & Starlight bundle. Images © Stampin' Up!

I almost chose the sample in the top photo above as my inspiration, but in the end I was drawn to the front cover….

Images © Stampin' Up!

Don’t forget about the eye-catching samples on the front of the catalogue!

In the end, I created 4 CASEd versions of the inspiration card.

CASEing the Catty #96 - Big Shot. Starlight Thinlits & Star of Light stamp set. Kelly Kent -

I started by changing the colours to one of my current favourite Christmas combinations – Pool Party & Silver.

{I’m a sucker for ‘modern’ or non-traditional Christmas colours}

CASEing the Catty #96 - Big Shot. Starlight Thinlits & Star of Light stamp set - Pool Party. Kelly Kent -

Then I created a second version by changing the orientation of the card to portrait.

CASEing the Catty #96 - Big Shot. Starlight Thinlits & Star of Light stamp set - Pool Party. Kelly Kent -

I was so happy with the Pool Party, I wanted to go a bit further a field with my Christmas colours and try Sweet Sugarplum & Silver!

This time I changed the colours, star feature & sentiment.

CASEing the Catty #96 - Big Shot. Starlight Thinlits & Star of Light stamp set - Sweet Sugarplum. Kelly Kent -

And then I also created a portrait version.

CASEing the Catty #96 - Big Shot. Starlight Thinlits & Star of Light stamp set - Sweet Sugarplum. Kelly Kent -

Four cards – all different, all special and all from the one inspiration point (and all in a short space of time!).

I can’t stress how easy the catalogue makes it to create beautiful cards.

They can be direct copies, have subtle changes or be your starting inspiration point for a whole world of options!

CASEing the Catty #96 - Big Shot. Starlight Thinlits & Star of Light stamp set. Kelly Kent -

If you still don’t have a copy of the Holiday Catalogue and would like one (Australian residents), then please leave me a comment and I’ll get one in your hands!

As always, I’ve had so much fun creating these cards as part of the CASEing the Catty design team.

If you’d like to join us, please upload your creations by clicking on the link below.

Next amazing project to visit is by Deb Speijers.
