Social Stamping | In Colors

Hey there! Happy Saturday!!

It’s the last Saturday of the month which means I have the pleasure of hopping with my demonstrator friends for Social Stamping. The theme this week is “In Colors”. If you’re a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, you were lucky enough to get a sneak peek of the new In Color range that will be released in early May. Let me share that they are absolutely gorgeous. If you can’t wait until May for all the new catalogue spoilers, it might be time for you to join Stampin’ Up!

To make room for the new In Colors, it means its time to say goodbye to the 2019-2021 In Colors.

These are some of my all-time favourite colours. I’d been asking for a pretty dusky pink for forever! It’s been a pleasure to craft with these colours for the past 2 years. I am going to miss them!!!

The cards for this blog post were so much fun to make. Rococo Rose, Pretty Peacock and Seaside Spray make a beautiful combination together.

The stamp set is another victim of the retirement list – Monogram Messages. All items on the Last Chance Retirement List are available until they sell out or 3rd May 2021 – whichever comes first!

The first card in this duo features all the large letter stamps available in this set in the retiring In Colors – Pretty Peacock, Rococo Rose and Seaside Spray.

I’ve stamped the matching words (there’s several options for each letter – I’ve gone for the birthday themed ones) in the same In Colors and matched them with flowers stamped in the other range of current In Colors – Just Jade, Magenta Madness and Misty Moonlight.

The butterflies in the set coordinate with the Butterfly Duet punch – also retiring! They are stamped in pretty colours from the Subtles range – Mint Macaron and Blushing Bride. Did you know that for the most part, the In Colors alternate between Brights and Subtles in overall tone. The outgoing In Colors are more subtle, so expect them to be replaced in the upcoming catalogue with more pastel tones.

The Pretty Peacock mat layer on this card has been embossed with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder. This is possibly the saddest retirement list item for me. I just love this EF and use it all the time. I still will! You just won’t be able to buy it if you don’t get it now. And as a bonus, it’s also on special until supplies sell out.

The second card is my favourite – I just love the layout and the way all the elements come together.

The top mat of this card is Watercolour Paper so that I could get a pretty watercolour wash in Seaside Spray behind the cluster of stamps.

This stamp set doesn’t have coordinating dies, so there’s a little patience required to fussy cut the letters and accessory stamps, though you can punch out the butterflies.

There’s two other colours in the retiring In Colors that I haven’t featured – Terracotta Tile and Purple Posy. :Leave me a comment if they are your favourites and you’re going to miss them. I can’t say they’ve been regulars on my craft table!!!

Social Stamping | baby

Hello friends!  It’s the end of the month which means it’s time for another Social Stamping blog hop with my wonderful Stampin’ Up! friends.

Today we’re making and sharing baby projects – an ode to the start of spring here in the Southern Hemisphere.  You can see all the details about this theme and the full list of participants by clicking here.

I love stamp sets with a cute baby theme.  There’s a large portion of my retired stash that are baby sets I can’t part with.  For today’s card I wanted to use a set that doesn’t jump out as a “baby set” but has included the pieces needed to create a cute ‘just hatched’ card.

This fold uses a normal card base with the top corner cut off and the front folded back on itself.  When closed it looks like this…

Dino Days | kelly kent

The baby is from the Monogram Messages stamp set.  I am in love with those scripted letters!

Dino Days | kelly kent

The dinosaur, egg and sentiment are from the Dino Days stamp set and Dino Dies.  So cute!

I added some embossing with the Woodlands Embossing Folder on the background panel and the Hammered Metal on the egg.

The DSP for the card is from two different packs.  The yellow is from the Whale of a Time DSP and the jade is from the Flowers for Every Season DSP.  My go-to colours for a neutral baby card are yellow and green, so these colours and patterns worked well.  When I look at the yellow pattern, I see dinosaur scales!

Thanks for joining us today.  Next up on the hop is Andrea Sargent – you’re going to love what she’s sharing!  Keep hopping until you get back to where you started.  There’s lots of great projects to see!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.  School holidays have just started here and we’re enjoying some family time!

Just Add Ink #514 | Colour Challenge

Hello!  Today’s project is a design team card for the Just Add Ink Challenge.  I’ve chosen a colour combination for the team to create with and I can’t wait to see what they – and you – do with it.  Every JAI theme is a challenge which means we ask you to join in too.  Add your project to the gallery on our blog (click here to visit) – your project could be the winner!

I had a totally different project in mind for this colour theme.  Little Miss Papercraft turns 7 on the weekend and with a Frozen themed birthday party, this would have been perfect!  I even preordered some delightfully snowy themed products from the upcoming Aug-Dec Mini Catalogue (aka the Holiday Catalogue), but sadly, they got held hostage by Australia Post and didn’t arrive in time.

So, instead, I have used the colours to create a cute birthday card using some of my favourite Annual Catalogue products.

Monogram Messages | kelly kent

The flowers on this card are from the Boho Indigo stamp set (part of the Boho Indigo Product Medley).  This is a hidden gem of the Annual Catalogue and such a fun set to own!  I used the coordinating dies in the kit to cut the feature flowers (Pool Party & Pretty Peacock) and the Vellum flourish.

Monogram Messages | kelly kent

The sentiment is from the Monogram Messages stamp set.  I’m in love with the simplicity of this set.  I cut the largest size of the stitched circle from the Stitched Shapes Dies, stamped the “B” in Pretty Peacock, ‘is for’ in Smoky Slate and white heat embossed the ‘birthday’ on Pretty Peacock cardstock.

You could use this simple layout for just about any card and with the other stamps in the Monogram Messages stamp set, you could easily adapt the colours for any type of birthday, baby, hello or celebration card.  There’s cute little picture stamps as well as the letters & words.  Did I mention how much I love this stamp set?

Now it’s your turn to work your magic on these colours (or the closest colours you have in your stash if you don’t use Stampin’ Up! – a soft aqua, a deep teal and a light gray).  Upload your project using the challenge colours and share it in our gallery.

Thanks for supporting the Just Add Ink challenge.  We love having you share your talents with us each week!

One Sheet Wonder | Playful Cats

One of my favourite activities recently has been cutting a super sweet piece of 6″ x 6″ DSP down into pieces to make 4 cards using a One Sheet Wonder template I designed.  You can see here for the original OSW post.

6x6 One Sheet Wonder | kelly kent

Card Mats:

Card A                   1-5/8″ x 5-7/8″

Card B                   3-1/4″ x 4-1/2″

Card C                   3-1/4″ x 3-3/6″

Card D                   3-3/6″ x 3-3/6″

Last month I participated in a blog hop with my ESAD friends and used the One Sheet Wonder template to create a series of cute dog themes cards.  I had plans to make a cat set too – and although I made these weeks ago, I’m only just getting around to sharing them now!

The colours for this set are Smoky Slate, Flirty Flamingo, Lovely Lipstick (retired) and Basic Gray.

Grumpy cat is definitely my favourite of this DSP – no sentiment needed!!!

Playful Pets One Sheet Wonder | kelly kentThe Monogram Messages stamp set works well with this theme – C is for CAT 🙂

I love the birthday stamp from the Fancy Phrases stamp set, together with the label die from the Hippo & Friends Dies.

This cat is just adorable too!  The Playful Pets DSP is perfect for dog & cat lovers – with a beautiful modern style and images that you can cut – or use as a full sheet!

I hope you’ve had some time this weekend to get your craft on!  Short of creative mojo?  Choose a piece of your favourite DSP, cut it up using the template above and whip up 4 cards in no time at all.

Playful Alphabet | Baby Card

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I love being able to personalise cards. Many years ago we had sets of dies for letters and numbers. This catalogue we have a new set with letters AND numbers. And it’s glorious! They are a great size for cards, scrapbooking and 3D projects – everything. You get multiples of the most commonly used letters and extra symbols. You might be surprised to see they are only $59 (Australian store).

I used them to make a personalised baby card for a special little lady who joined the world last month.

The letters are mounted on the new Foam Adhesive Sheets to make them stand out. I cut each of the letters for ‘Samantha’ in Mint Macaron card and the foam before sticking the layers together.

The panel behind the letters is Watercolour Paper stamped with hearts from the Monogram Messages stamp set in Just Jade and Mint Macaron and die cut using the Stitched So Sweetly Dies. I’ve flicked the layer with the green toned inks for a little extra texture.

The card has been finished with a Whisper White card base and a strip of Greenery embossed Whisper White Cardstock.

If you *NEED* to add the Playful Alphabet Dies or any other Stampin’ Up! Supplies to your stash, my online store is open & available for orders 24-7. Click here to shop.
