Paper Adventures Team Hop | Christmas in July

Paper Adventures - Blog Hop Header

Hello!  Thanks for joining us for a team hop with our Paper Adventures team.  We’re all sharing festive projects today for a Christmas in July theme.  Although any thoughts of Christmas at this point of the year seem way too early for me, this year is speeding by and it’ll be that time before we know it!  A little bit of early preparation does seem like a good idea!

We’re joined today by the amazing Denise Buetler – a fellow Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator from Western Australia.  I know you’re going to love Denise’s project so make sure to click the next button at the end of this post to visit.

As always, Stampin’ Up! have a range of Christmas themed stamp sets in the Annual Catalogue that have carried over from previous holiday offerings.  The 2019 range of Christmas products is available in September when the Holiday Catalogue gets released on 4th September.  If you love Christmas and you don’t want to wait, then joining our Paper Adventures team is the answer for you.  WIth extra value in the Starter Kit until 31st August, a bonus shopping voucher, 20% discount until at least 31st January 2020 and early access to the Holiday Catalogue, it’s a great time to purchase a Starter Kit and join the Stampin’ Up! family.  Click here for more information.

The returning set from the Annual Catalogue that I’ve chosen to feature today is Dashing Deer.

I was so excited to order this last year in the Holiday Catalogue but between a newborn and moving house, it didn’t get as much love as those reindeer deserved.   I was so glad to see it carry over into the 2019-2020 Annual Catalogue!!

I started making cards for this hop and the creative process took me on a journey of different styles.  Which made me think – which type of Christmas are you???  Traditional, modern or neutral tones?

I think there’s a wonderful place at Christmas for the traditional red & green.  For this card I’ve used Cherry Cobbler as the card base, Mossy Meadow for the mat, Whisper White Stitched Lace layer and a pennant using the Stitched Nested Label die with a gold embossed reindeer.

The Stitched Lace layer was cut to size using a Stitched Rectangle Die.  I love the polished finish the stitched edges give and with so many stitched options in the range, it’s easy to coordinate all the layers.

The next style is made from Crumb Crumb & Early Espresso giving it a fabulous neutral colour palette – and though subdued, it’s definitely not boring!  I love neutral and think this style of colouring can give such a classic look.

This card features a corrugated background with a DSP panel running down the middle.  The reindeer is stamped in Early Espresso with clear embossing to give it a lovely shine.  All finished with some linen thread.

The final card I’m sharing is probably my preferred style, though I don’t have a favourite of the three I’ve shown you today – I love them all!  With blues & teals, this card is more of a modern Christmas trend with bright colours & metallics.

I’ve used the Noble Peacock Speciality DSP – which is more like a patterned foil than it is a normal DSP.  It’s very deluxe!!!  To continue with the deluxe theme, I matted it with Silver Foil and added lots of embellishments – foilage (Pool Party sprigs & vellum leaves), pearls, champagne foil flowers and of course a fabulous Sparkle Glimmer reindeer, mounted on a Stitched Nested Label die.

I’d love to hear which Christmas style you are – one of my three or do you have a different style that you prefer?  Leave me a comment!

Keep hopping for more July Christmas inspiration and visit our wonderful guest designer – Denise Buetler.

Have a wonderful weekend!

I love all things Big Shot, so choosing a favourite was a tough task.

As I flicked through the catalogue, I kept coming back to the samples featuring the Starlight thinlits.

This is definitely one of my favourite bundles.

I almost chose the sample in the top photo above as my inspiration, but in the end I was drawn to the front cover….

Don’t forget about the eye-catching samples on the front of the catalogue!

In the end, I created 4 CASEd versions of the inspiration card.

I started by changing the colours to one of my current favourite Christmas combinations – Pool Party & Silver.

{I’m a sucker for ‘modern’ or non-traditional Christmas colours}

Then I created a second version by changing the orientation of the card to portrait.

I was so happy with the Pool Party, I wanted to go a bit further a field with my Christmas colours and try Sweet Sugarplum & Silver!

This time I changed the colours, star feature & sentiment.

And then I also created a portrait version.

Four cards – all different, all special and all from the one inspiration point (and all in a short space of time!).

I can’t stress how easy the catalogue makes it to create beautiful cards.

They can be direct copies, have subtle changes or be your starting inspiration point for a whole world of options!

If you still don’t have a copy of the Holiday Catalogue and would like one (Australian residents), then please leave me a comment and I’ll get one in your hands!

As always, I’ve had so much fun creating these cards as part of the CASEing the Catty design team.
