Colour INKspiration #10

Another amazing fortnight of challenge entries!

If you’re not already on our challenge page over on Facebook, join us to for wonderful ideas shared every day by crafters just like you!

It’s our 10th challenge this week – which is a wonderful achievement for Bronwyn Eastley and the Colour INKspiration team.

If you’re already on your way hopping, did you love what Denita made?  I always admire her creativity.

The colours for Colour INKspiration #10 are amazing {again} and will stretch the way in which you look at your crafting projects.

Cajun Craze, Island Indigo, Smoky Slate and Delightful Dijon!

This is the last time the crew will play with Delightful Dijon as it’s set to retire next week.

Have you bought all the items you *need* from the retirement list?  Next week it’ll be all about the new catalogue!

When I first sat down to play with these colours, I was raiding Nanna Papercraft’s craft room while she’s on holidays.

I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but Delightful Dijon is an absolutely perfect colour for beer!

So, with the Mixed Drinks stamp set in my hand, this is what I created for Colour INKspiration #10….

Lots of Island Indigo & Smoky Slate – because I love them!

Whisper White to break all those strong colours up (don’t forget you can use any neutral or metallic in your Colour INKspiration project).

Delightful Dijon – because it makes fantastic beer!

And just a touch of Cajun Craze for the sentiment to finish the challenge!

I’m not sure if you’ve looked at the Mixed Drinks stamp set (it’s awesome!)…

There’s only one beer mug?  How did I get it to ‘clink’ I hear you ask?!?

Colour INKspiration #10 | kelly kent

I used the reflection technique to flip it over.

Stamp in Versamark & emboss the beer mug as normal.

Then, stamp it again on Window Sheet.  Turn the window sheet upside down and very carefully (it’s slippery and wants to slide away from you producing a truly spectacular beer googles effect!) press down on the stamped image.  This will transfer it to the cardstock -as a mirror image.  Emboss as usual and colour both images with an Aqua Painter and Delightful Dijon ink.

I’ve also put a special touch on the inside.

If you’re going to send a beer themed card, you should probably send beer money…

Colour INKspiration #10 | kelly kent

Personally, I’d rather stamping money… but I guess they don’t hold the same appeal for everyone!

Next up for some colourful inspiration is my gorgeous friend Lou Kitzelman

And join us on Facebook for the challenge.  It runs for three weeks, so plenty of time to get inky!

Stamp Review Crew – Timeless Textures

timeless-textures-banner

Morning!  Officially it’s spring here in Bunbury, Western Australia – but someone forgot to tell the weather man!  So, instead of bright and sunny, it’s overcast and a little soggy!

Not to worry, stamping & blog hopping doesn’t need perfect weather and in fact, it’s nice and cosy at the craft table!!!

Snuggle up, and come around the world as we visit international blogs in search of inspiration for today’s feature stamp set – Timeless Textures!

It’s a set with unlimited possiblities and I can’t wait to see what everyone has come up with.

During the week, I’d decided that I was going to use the stamps to form a repetitive background sequence in clear embossing.

I’d only intended to make a couple, but as I started matching the background pieces with other stamps in my collection, it was fun to keep going!

All in all, I made 5 cards in this style.  Here’s the backgrounds…

And here’s the cards…

Circles + Fairy Celebration

Random Dots + Lots of Love

Fleur de Lis + Mixed Drinks

Woodgrain +  Country Livin’

I’m undecided if they need sentiments or if they say enough as they are!

What do you think???

Any favourites???  For me it’s never the planned cards but always the afterthoughts that I fall in love with.  I love the cowboy boots!!!

Thanks for hopping with me!

Next stop on the inspiration trail is Shana Gaff and her timeless creations!

Top Shelf Birthday

With all the hype around the new Holiday Catalogue, it’s easy to forget all about those lovely stamps in the Annual Catalogue.

This is a card I made for a friend’s birthday using the Mixed Drinks stamp set.

There are so many fun ideas for this set – in fact it was Holly’s great beer card that she posted today that reminded me I hadn’t shared this with you yet!

3 drinks for the birthday boy…

Top Shelf Birthday - Mixed Drinks stamp set. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

And 3 cheers on the inside of the card.

Top Shelf Birthday - Mixed Drinks stamp set. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

The sentiments included with Mixed Drinks didn’t quite have the right tone for the card I wanted to make, so I made my own!

In my (humble) opinion, every crafter needs to have the Labeler Alphabet stamp set in their craft stash.  It let’s you add any sentiment you need to your card.

It’s sometimes trickier to make cards for males, but I’m yet to meet a male that wouldn’t appreciate a card all about drinking!
