CASEing the Catty #138 – Holidays

It’s a busy night on the blog tonight, with CASEing the Catty following up from my Stamping Sunday post!

I love participating in blog hops – they bring out the best in my creativity.

And I love being able to send you on to another wonderfully creative project after mine!

This week at CASEing the Catty, it’s Christmas in July time again!!!  We’re CASEing projects from the Holiday section of the 2017-2018 Stampin’ Up! ® Annual Catalogue.

We did this theme earlier in the month and I made a Christmas card into a birthday card.

This time around, my inspiration comes from a thanksgiving card…..

Which formed the inspiration for a Christmas card…

It was the layered cardstock across the die cut that grabbed my attention!

Create this look by cutting strips of cardstock (great way to use scraps) and adhere them to a cardstock base.

My adhesive of choice was the new multipurpose adhesive sheets – easy to lay all the strips out & no glue mess!

It’s a little hard to see in the catalogue photo, but background is embossed with embossing paste, so I did the same but sprinkled with gold glitter (because I could!!!).

The sentiment is similar to the original card.

I think a Christmas hug from a reindeer would be cute… but I’m probably wrong!

We don’t have reindeer in Australia…. It’d probably be the equivalent of hugging an emu!

Anyway, enough crazy thoughts from me!

The hop continues across the country with the lovely Peta Stephen and her assistant Marvi…

CASEing the Catty #137 – Artistic Expression

Today marks the end of the winter school holidays for us and back to school tomorrow.

I love school holidays, so I’m sad to see them end, but the start of Term 3 hopefully means that nice weather will be coming soon!

This week at CASEing the Catty, the inspiration comes from a plentiful section of the catalogue called “Artistic Expression” – pages 132-181 of the Annual Catalogue.

There’s so many beautiful inspiration photos in this section of the catalogue, I had a hard time choosing – so I kinda didn’t!

I used three inspiration photos to create something new!

CASEIng the Catty #137 Artistic Expression | kelly kent

The colours, centrepiece element & choice of stamp set came from the photos above, and the layout was a combination of all three.

The big flower from the Garden in Bloom stamp set was stamped and then the outline embossed – just as the catalogue suggested!

The ‘friend’ centrepiece is cut on Shimmery White cardstock using the Lovely Words Thinlit die, backed with a Gold Foil oval.

And I couldn’t leave this card just at the front, so I carried the theme through to the middle for a bit of extra ‘wow’!

This worked well with the 2-part sentiment.

After I made this, it waiting on my table for the next step (photography).  It looked so cute amongst the post-craft chaos, I snapped a candid picture!

I love this view because you can see the front & the middle all at once!

That’s all from me today!

Stamping with Friends – Celebrating 5 years! Part One

A very big hello!!!

And welcome to a special blog hop that started as a little idea that delightfully spun into a wonderful weave of stamping friends.

This time 5 years ago my Stampin’ Up! demonstrator (now upline, Maxine Norrish) contacted me to see if I had thought about joining Stampin’ Up!

I hadn’t, but given my spending patterns & growing stash in the 12 months before that, it seemed like a great next step.  And they were offering free DSP…. show me the forms!!!

Which brings me to May 2017 – and I’m celebrating 5 years with Stampin’ Up!, a heap of wonderful memories, a great team and {lots} of wonderful stamping friends!

So, when I asked if anyone wanted to join me, thinking I’d maybe have a nice little hop of 10 or so, I was left speechless (which takes a lot!) by the amazing demos that put their hand up to join me.

So many so, that this blog hop runs over 2 nights!!!  With lots & lots of talent with each ‘next’ click.

There weren’t too many rules or regulations for tonight’s hop – I wanted it to be a celebration and a party.

But we do have a loose theme of ‘happy’.

When I think about what makes me happy, there’s 2 main things – my family & my friends.

Because it’s my stamping friends that have made this hop possible tonight, I’ll start with friends!

We’re so close to the new catalogue and being able to order new things… like the Lovely Inside & Out bundle.

Owning new Stampin’ Up! makes me happy!

Over the years I’ve grown to love cards with non specific sentiments such as ‘friend’.

And I {LOVE} the fonts in this set!

So, using the friend stamp & die, I’ve made a trio of friend cards, to celebrate all my stamping friends and how happy their friendship & support makes me.

I’ve used lots of Stampin’ Up! products in these cards that make me happy!

Happy colours…Sweet Sugarplum, Berry Burst, Bermuda Bay & Pool Party

Happy embellishments… glitter dots

Happy dies… stitched shapes

Layouts that make me happy, vellum and of course twine!

I think the only happy favourite that’s missing is white embossing!

It think it’s safe to say I have a ‘style’ when it comes to card making!!!!

Mother’s Day 2017

Don’t freak out – I’m a day early on the Mother’s Day celebrations!

Nanna Papercraft goes away today so we celebrated last night.

Which means I can share my 2017 Mother’s Day card and gift with you, just in case you’re a deadline runner (like me) and it helps with anything you’re creating this weekend!

Mother’s Day 2017 is all about new catalogue sneak peeks!

Nanna Papercraft’s card is made using the upcoming Wood Textures DSP (absolutely gorgeous), Lovely Words Thinlits, Decorative Ribbon Border Punch, Seasonal Layers Thinlits, Glitter Enamel Dots, Finely Woven Ribbon, Copper Trim and 2 of the new In Colors – Berry Burst & Powder Pink!

That’s a whole lot of new lovelies in my stash!!!  Feeling very lucky right now!

Mother's Day 2017 | kelly kent

It’s such a wonderful perk of being a Stampin’ Up! demo to have all these items to play with before the catalogue release next month!

And of course, there’s always all my favourites that are carrying over, like Thoughtful Banners.

To match her card, I made a decorated paper cube to go on her craft desk.

Mother's Day 2017 | kelly kent

The copper trim is truly amazing!  It’s coiled tightly along, but a little teasing and it forms all kinds of shapes.  You have to see this in person!!!

In an absolute stroke of luck, Kmart are currently selling these paper cube pads with rose gold (copper) edging and pink dot pages, which matched my project perfectly!

Mother's Day 2017 | kelly kent

I do love a fabulously matching project – and if the stationary matches too, well, that just makes my day!!!

Mother's Day 2017 | kelly kent

Happy Mother’s Day to Nanna Papercraft!  Hope the cocktails are cold, the seas calm and the other passengers aren’t too annoying!

Love Team Kent x
