Just Add Ink #348 Ombre

Just Add Ink Design Team

This challenge is going to be a fun one – I can tell!!!

Why you ask?  Because I had fun making my design team card!

The theme this week for Just Add Ink is ombre – suggested by Rochelle.

Just Add Ink #348 Ombre

Ombre is the gradual blending of one colour to another or going from a light shade to a dark shade.

It’s a lovely way to add texture to a card or project and a great way to get the most out of your Stampin’ Up! colours!

Stampin’ Up! reinvented their brayer for this annual catalogue and rather than the traditional hard rubber brayer, you can now buy beautiful soft spongy brayers that roll like a dream!

They are perfect for an ombre background – like this one in Watermelon Wonder on the loved up anniversary card I made for my parents.

38 years married deserves a pretty card and a whole lot of love!!!

Can you spot the trio of ombre?

I’ve used a brayer ombre background, beautiful ombre ribbon from the Cupcakes & Carousel Embellishment Kit and picked an ombre colour pallette for my love letters.

Everything was finished off with a very liberal application of Wink of Stella to make it all sparkle!!!

We’d love to see you join us this week at JAI with your ombre creations.

Upload them to the Just Add Ink blog.

Thanks for joining me again!

Stamp Review Crew – Sweet Stack

sweet-stack-banner

Good morning & welcome to the final Stamp Review Crew hop for 2016!

Today, this talented group of international demonstrators are sharing their creations using the Sweet Stack stamp set.

This sweet set was originally designed to pair with the Sweet Stack project kit and can still be used with the Cutie Pie Thinlits dies to create cake slices fit for a queen!

I’m still in the middle of my Christmas card list (yep, I’m a deadline girl), so I’ve gone with a love-based Christmas theme.

Stamp Review Crew - Sweet Stack Christmas Card. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

This card is for Mr Papercraft, so it’s ok for it to be a bit lovey-dovey.

You might not (or you might!) want to send a Christmas card like this to your boss!!!

To create the heart filled circle, I stamped the long heart stamp several time (one under another) and then cut it with a stitched circle.

{Great news – the Stitched Shape Framelits will be available again in January!!!).

Stamp Review Crew - Sweet Stack Christmas Card. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

For my sentiments, I stamped the ‘love you to pieces’ in Basic Black ink and cut that with the smallest stitched circle

{Have you noticed how the stitched framelits are currently appearing on almost every card I make???  They are sooooooo fabulous!}

Then I wrapped my card using the gold twine from the Baker’s Twine Trio in the current Holiday Catalogue.  Unfortunately this is a retiring product, so if you want to stock up, you’ll need to do that before 4th Jan (or stocks run out!).  The good news is that it’s appearing in the online store at the moment at a discounted price!!!

And the final sentiment piece is a Real Red ‘Merry Christmas’ from the Star of Light stamp set (this is a carryover item and will continue to be available until 31st May 2017).

I’m so excited to see what the rest of the team created with this set – particularly the next stop on the hop, the stylish Mike Funke who is super talented at getting the most of a single stamp set!

Thanks for supporting my Stamp Review Crew creations through 2016 – I look forward to more projects with the Crew in 2017!

The next hop goes live on 2nd January – see you then!

Stamp Review Crew – Jar of Love

Stamp Review Crew - Jar of Love

Are you ready for a blockbuster week of inspiration???

It starts today with another Stamp Review Crew starring the Jar of Love stamp set (and it’s best friend the Everyday Jars framelits!).

This bundle is a favourite of mine and I’ve already had a lot of fun with it.

Mason jars have been ‘on trend’ for a number of years now and they lend themselves beautifully to cards & projects.  As you’ll see today, there are oh-so-many things you can put in jars!

The stamp set is ready to go with flowers, fish, fireflies and more!

But, for something different, I thought I’d show you some ideas that combine the jars with other sets from the Annual Catalogue.

So, this is Jar of Love & Friends!

Featuring Feather Together, Seaside Shore and Live, Love Grow stamp sets.

Stamp Review Crew - Jar of Love & Friends. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

JAR OF LOVE + FEATHER TOGETHER

This card turns the smallest jar into a little ink well and uses the feather from Feather Together as a quill pen to create some gentlemanly birthday wishes.

JAR OF LOVE + SEASIDE SHORE

This card uses the largest jar to keep a shaker jar full of shells – with some glitter to jazz it up!

JAR OF LOVE + LIVE, LOVE, GROW

And the final card turns the medium size jar into a vintage mason jar in solid colours – Bermuda Bay, Whisper White & Smoky Slate – with beautiful Live, Love, Grow foliage poking out the top!

Each card was such fun to make and hopefully I’ve been able to add some applications for the stamp set to your reportoire.

Next stop on this international blog hop – and it’s a big one today {popular set!!!} – is another Aussie – Rochelle Blok.  Rochelle’s style is amazing, so I know you’ll love what she makes with Jar of Love.

As it happens, I’m in the middle of an Australian stretch, so the blog before me (if you want to go backwards) is Nikki Spencer – also very clever and inspiring!!!

If you get lost at any point of the hop, just click on the banner at the top of this blog post and it will take you to the main list (*** this might not be live until later on Monday).

Thanks for joining me today!  Check back in frequently this week – I’m promising lots and hoping to deliver!!!

Live, Love, Grow – Not just for greenery!

Every now & again I buy stamp sets that just tickle my fancy.

When I saw Live, Love, Grow in the catalogue, it looked fun and I couldn’t wait to add it to my order.

It might look to be all about the greenery, but scroll down for more inspiration!

Of course, first up, I had to make a beautiful terranium with shades of greenery – Old Olive & Pear Pizzazz…

But, my ideas didn’t stop there.

The terranium dome also makes a great cupcake cloche….

And it would make a great fairy catcher … if they could be caught!

Have you seen other great ideas for the Live, Love, Grow stamp set???  Leave me a comment and I’ll check them out!

“Embossible to Resist” You …. Happy Anniversary!

If there was an award for the worst blog post pun of the year – this might win it!

I try to think of quirky things to call my blog posts to keep it interesting, but this one made me groan out loud.  Then it was too good (bad) to ‘resist’.  Oh dear!

The title is a play on the emboss resist background (and ‘impossible to resist’… just in case my sense of humour is too quirky for you!), here is Mr P’s wedding anniversary card…

Emboss Resist Love Bug Anniversary Card - featuring Beautiful Ride, Number of Years and Kinda Ecletic stamp sets together with Color Me Irresistible Specialty DSP. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com. Funnily enough, Stampin’ Up! aren’t shy of a few quirky titles themselves.  The spotty background is from the Color Me Irresitible Specialty DSP pack which has 6 sheets of white/clear emboss resist papers and 6 sheets of coloured/clear embossed papers.  They are super cool – ready for you to add your own touch.

To create my background, I selected the white/clear spotty design and stamped the Kinda Eclectic sun in Hello Honey.  I then sponged Blushing Bride ink over the sun image and Pool Party ink around it, making sure to overlap the colours a bit and get a purple tinge as well.  I love the end result!  I don’t do much sponging – but I should!  It’s lots of fun!

The Love Bug is from the Beautiful Ride stamp set (can you beleive this is the first time I have inked it up!  Don’t worry, it’ll be getting lots more use!), stamped on to the recently available Perfectly Artistic Sale-A-Bration DSP.

And that lovely senitment is from the Number of Years stamp set.

Happy Anniversary Mr P!  It might be a week late, but I’m told that love is patient & kind!  Kelly x

Project Love – Making Memories

Happy Valentine’s Day!  Mr Papercraft is unavailable this V-Day, so there wasn’t any pressure to get his card done by today (thank goodness – it’s been a crazy week!).

So, this morning’s agenda was a sleep-in, late breakfast and some craft time with the Little Misses.

It was a love theme all around with me making a Valentine’s Day card for Mr P and the misses making Valentine’s treat boxes.

Remember when I bought the Project Life Memories in the Making stamp set just for that delightful swirl stamp?  Well, it was time to fall in love with the whole stamp set…

And create this loved up card for Mr Papercraft.

Valentines Day card using Project Life Memories in the Making stamp set, Card & Labels Framelits & Perpetual Calendar stamp set. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

Of course there’s some clear Wink of Stella glitter, gold embossing and some lovely layers!

Valentines Day card using Project Life Memories in the Making stamp set, Card & Labels Framelits & Perpetual Calendar stamp set. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

Guess what?  The theme for this week’s Just Add Ink challenge is something starting with “V”… like Valentine’s Day!  So as exciting as the prospect of a volcano card with a lurking vulture at a fabulous vacation spot might be… I’m going to go with the boring theme of Valentine’s Day!

I really love this sweet card.  Happy Valentine’s Day Mr P – soulmates are hard to find, glad you’re mine!  Mrs Papercraft x

Just Add Ink 295 – I Love You Sew!

Hello!  Have you had a lovely start to the week so far?  We’ve just returned from a lovely camping trip to Molloy Island in the South West of Australia.  It’s a beautiful place I didn’t realise existed until just recently. What a hidden gem!

Camping doesn’t involve stamping, so I’ve had a lot of time over the past few days to think about what my Just Add Ink card will look like.  My starting inspiration for this week’s sketch challenge was a card I saw on Pinterest by Debbie Henderson that used the new two tone Baker’s Twine from the Occasions catalogue and the Love You Sew hostess stamp set to make little thread bobbins – so cute!

This is the JAI sketch…

Somewhere in the midst of the night sky, open air & freedom that camping provides, it occurred to me that the cute little Bow Paper Clips Embellishments from the Occasions catalogue would make great bobbins.

Turns out, I have good ideas when I’m out camping!

Just Add Ink #295 - Sketch Challenge using products from the Stampin' Up! Occasions Catalogue: Bow Paper Clips Embellishments, Baker's Twine Combo Pack & I Love You Sew Stamp Set. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

And then, because I had so much fun making this card with my little bobbin twine clips, I made another card using similar elements…

"I Love You Sew" card using products from the Stampin' Up! Occasions Catalogue: Bow Paper Clips Embellishments, Baker's Twine Combo Pack & I Love You Sew Stamp Set. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

Why stop at one, when two is twice the fun???  Kelly x
