Colour INKspiration #56

Hello & welcome to a Colour INKspiration challenge design team blog hop.  We’re all linking together to share projects we’ve create with the challenge colours – can you believe we’re up to #56!!!

Image may contain: flower, plant, text and food

You may have hopped here from our amazing guest designer – Cazz Boylan.  I just loved her beautiful card!  Cazz won challenge #54 and we were delighted to have her hop with us.  To add your card for this challenge and be in the running for a guest designer spot, join us in our Facebook group – click here to visit.

All those gorgeous pink & purple tones made me want to watercolour – so I did!!!  On watercolour paper, I used an Aqua Painter to marble Melon Mambo, Berry Burst & Blackberry Bliss inks together.  I did it all at the same time (rather than waiting for each colour to dry) so they ran together to create a mix of those tones.

The colours were just perfect for a congratulations card for a friend who welcomed a new grandbaby girl into the world this month.  With this as my plan, I added elephants in Whisper White using the Elephant Builder Punch.  I love the bright white against the vibrant watercolouring.

To add a bit of texture to the stark white, I embossed the elephants – Quilt Top for the Grandma Elephant and Tufted  for the baby elephant.

I’ve used the Little Elephant stamp set (coordinates with the punch) for the sentiment & hearts. The hearts are clear embossed for a cute little touch.

Both the stamp set and punch are carrying over to the new catalogue – yay!

Next on the hop is my friend Jacque Williams with a card I can’t wait to CASE!  I’m not going to spoil the surprise – but I love that she’s added that DSP to this colour combination!

CASEing the Catty #223 | Classic Garage

These CASEing the Catty blog hops seem to roll around so quickly each week!  Stop the world, I just wanna hide in my craft room!!!

Little Mr Papercraft and the busy Miss Papercrafts are keeping me very busy, so it’s snippets of time when I can manage them!  I still love making for challenges – they are usually my favourite projects of the month.

This week for CASEing the Catty, we’re inspired by the Classic Garage suite and subsequent pages of the catalogue.

No photo description available.

I do love the Classic Garage cards, but I couldn’t go past this gorgeous card (bottom left) on page 46 as the inspiration for my CASE.

I love the styling for this card – the repeated background stamping with an image over the top.  Using these features, I’ve recreated the card as a baby card….

Sweet Baby | kelly kent

How to make it –

  • Prepare your card base by cutting a piece of Whisper White Thick A4 cardstock in half lengthways.  Score & fold.
  • Add a piece of Twinkle Twinkle DSP (Gray Granite star design) – whole card front size (4-1/8″ x 5-7/8″).
  • On a piece of Whipser White cardstock (3-3/8″ x 5-7/8″), stamp the “it’s a girl” sentiment in Blushing Bride – first in full strength then again without inking (half strength).  Keep doing this until you have enough stamped images.
  • Add Blushing Bride ink using the smooshing technique (ink on a plastic envelope/sheet spritzed with water and applied to the cardstock).  Set this aside to dry.
  • Stamp the baby from the Sweet Baby stamp set in Memento ink.  Cut using the Bouncing Baby Framelits and colour using Stampin’ Blends (Dark Pink Pirouette (retired), Dark Flirty Flamingo, Ivory, Light Crumb Cake, Light Smoky Slate).
  • Stamp the congratulations sentiment from the Little Elephant stamp set on vellum in StazOn.  Cut around the words in a rectangle shape using Paper Snips.  I added second layer of vellum under the sentiment for more depth.  Using Multipurpose Liquid Glue on a sponge, glue the two layers of vellum together, and both layers on the baby.
  • Adhere the  ‘it’s a girl’ panel to the card base and then add the baby with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Finish the card with Blushing Bride stars cut using the Twinkle Builder punch.

Sweet Baby | kelly kent

This card was so cute I decided to make a blue ‘it’s a boy’ version too!

Sweet Baby | kelly kent

The colours for this card are Pool Party ink, cardstock & Blends and Bermuda Bay Blends.

This is another card layout I know I’m going to get lots of use from!   I’m dreaming up a birthday one as I type!

Stamp Review Crew | Lemon Zest

Hello!  Welcome to a Stamp Review Crew blog hop where I am lucky enough to hop with an internationally talented group of demonstrators.  We all use the same stamp set to create projects that we hope will inspire you to create with this set too.

Today’s hop is all about the Lemon Zest stamp set – and the coordinating Lemon Builder Punch.

Until just recently, I didn’t own this stamp set (and because I don’t mind fussy cutting, I still don’t own the punch).  Given the zest theme of this stamp set, it never quite made it to my wishlist – until my friend Mandy used the Happy Birthday stamp in a class and all of a sudden I saw it in a new light.

The size & font of the Happy Birthday is just perfect for the style of cards I made, so of course I rushed to order it and have been enjoying it since.

Because it was the happy birthday I loved, that’s what I’ve used for my Stamp Review Crew projects.  I can’t wait to see what the other members of the crew have made so I can extend my love of this set!

The first project uses two other stamp sets to make up the Happy Birthday song!

Stamp Review Crew - Lemon Zest | kelly kent

I’ve added in ‘to you!’ from Banners For You and ‘to my friend’ from Little Elephant.

I love how this card turned out – it’s fun and shows off that gorgeous Happy Birthday stamp!

Stamp Review Crew - Lemon Zest | kelly kent

The second card I’m sharing came about because I needed a first birthday card for one of our Mini Paper Adventurers.

I already had Little Elephant on my table – and it’s such a cute set I couldn’t resist adding an elephant.

Instead of making a lemon, I’ve used Stampin’ Write Markers to colour the segments and make a background for the elephant to sit on.

Stamp Review Crew - Lemon Zest | kelly kent

And of course, that beautiful birthday stamp front & centre.

Stamp Review Crew - Lemon Zest | kelly kent

In some ways the coloured wheel reminds me of the board game Trivial Pursuit – but I couldn’t quite think of a witty enough sentiment to go with it!

For more (traditional & no-so-traditional) uses for this stamp set, please keep hopping and visit the gorgeous Holly Krautkremer in the US.

CASEing the Catty #184 | Delightfully Detailed

Welcome to CASEing the Catty on this lovely Sunday.

We’ve started our voyage through the 2018-2019 Annual Catalogue and today we’re CASEing catalogue projects on pages 38-51 – which starts with the Delightfully Detailed suite.

Image may contain: 2 people, people smiling

My choice this week was the cute hello card on page 44.

I took the colours, overall layout and use of the Darling Label punch and added the Little Elephant bundle to create a bright baby card.

Little Elephant | kelly kent

The background DSP is from the Broadway Bound Speciality DSP – it’s full of gold, silver & black patterns on one side and bright, fun colours on the other.  This was my surprise love when I unpacked the new designs.  It’s sensational in real life.

Little Elephant | kelly kent

I can’t get enough of the cute little elephants from the Little Elephant bundle.  The Little Elephant stamp set coordinates with a punch created just for this set.  You get two sizes of elephant and a whole set of adorable stamps!

The other detail I wanted to show you from this card was the gorgeous new gold cord…

Little Elephant | kelly kent

There’s also a black version!  Want one of each new ribbon & trim in the catalogue at a fraction of the cost?  You’ll love my 2018 Ribbon Share.  Click here to see the details.

Paper Adventures Team Blog Hop | Colour Revamp

Paper Adventures - Blog Hop Header

Thanks for joining us for the monthly Paper Adventures blog hop.

Tonight’s theme is the Color Revamp.  As part of the new catalogue, Stampin’ Up! did a complete shake up of the colour range.  We saw favourite colours retired, retired favourites return and got new colours to love.  You can read more about the details here – click here.

There’s 53 colours in the range – 10 In Colors, 10 Neutrals, 10 Brights, 10 Subtles, 10 Regals & 3 Basics

2018 In Color Collections | kelly kent

2018 Color Collections | kelly kent

Although I love the variety within and between each of the colour collections, my long-time favourite collection has been Brights.

I think the revamp has given it a fun shake up.  4 colours remain in the collection, 4 colours moved to the Regals collection 2 colours retired and we saw 6 new colours join the Brights family.

3 of these were returning In Colors (Poppy Parade, Flirty Flamingo, Coastal Cabana) and 3 are new (Mango Melody, Granny Apple Green, Gorgeous Grape).

I have two projects to share with you tonight.

The first uses all 10 colours in the rainbow order they appear in the catalogue.  Previously Stampin’ Up! has used alphabetical order to arrange the colours.  The Color Revamp brings us a beautiful rainbow effect for each collection!

I’ve paired the colours from the Brights Collection with an elephant silhouette.  This oh-so-cute punch & coordinating Little Elephant stamp set is a new addition to my collection from the 2018-2019 Annual Catalogue.

How beautiful is that rainbow???

Color Revamp: Brights Collection | kelly kent

Do you have a favourite colour???  It’s hard to choose, and probably depends on my mood.  At this moment in time, my favourite new colour is Granny Apple Green, my favourite returning colour is Coastal Cabana and my favourite carry over colour is Bermuda Bay!!!

The second project I am sharing today is a set of thank you cards I made to send out with my DSP & Ribbon Product Shares this week.  Curious about how to get all the paper & ribbon without spending $$$???  Click here to see the post on my 2018-2019 Annual Catalogue Product Shares.

Inspired by the pretty colours of the Brights collection, and other new things I was itching to play with, I created this set of cards using the 6 ‘new/returning’ Brights.

When making cards to go with orders, I like to show them what products they might have admired in the catalogue actually look like.

This card features the stars pattern from the Bokeh Dots stamp set, the dreamcatcher from the Follow Your Dreams stamp set and the thank you stamp from Love What You Do stamp set.

The panel on the left is embossed with the Subtle Embossing Folder.  It’s a little tricky to see what it looks like in the catalogue, so I wanted to share how beautiful it looks in person.

Color Revamp: Brights Collection | kelly kent

These cards were so easy to make using my Stamparatus.  I was able to set the position and ink each layer several times to get some great depth of colour – and ensure an even inking.on the background stamp.

There’s so many amazing new products a part of the 2018-2019 Annual Catalogue.  I look forward to sharing more with you over the coming months.  Click here to browse the online store.

Next up on the hop is our guest designer – Sara Levin.  Thanks to Sara for joining us.  You’re going to love what she’s made!!!
