Colour INKspiration #09

Hello & welcome!  It’s the second Colour INKspiration of the month – we run on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month.

There’s a whole fortnight to play with this amazing colour combination…

Image may contain: 1 person

I know it’s going to challenge some and delight others.  But after seeing what you did with Colour INKspiration #8 and those moody brown & yellow tones, I’m so excited to see what designs this bring.

Make sure to follow this hop all the way through to see the amazing creations of the Colour INKspiration Crew.  I’m always honored to be part of such amazing design teams!

Find us on Facebook to play along too.

When I saw this colour theme, I did a quick survey of some crafty friends to see what came to mind for blue & red tones – and nautical was the winner!

Which gave me the perfect opportunity to use my High Tide stamp set from the Occasions catalogue.

I’m delighted to share that this stamp set will appear in the 2017-2018 Annual Catalogue, which starts 1st June.

I’ve been wanting to make a card that utilises a panel style.  I have no idea what the official name is.  Let’s call it a peekaboo panel card…???

Colour INKspiration #9 | kelly kent

The white pieces on the front are joined by the lighthouse panel…

I think this style of card can also be made with a window sheet holding it all together, but the Thick Whisper White cardstock worked just fine!

Colour INKspiration #09 | kelly kent

The measurements:

  • Cut a piece of Whisper White Thick cardstock to 5-7/8″ (14.8cm) x 5-1/2″ (13.8cm) and score along the 5-1/2″ (13.8cm)  edge at 4-1/8″ (10.5cm)
  • Cut another pieces of Whisper White Thick cardstock to 5-7/8″ (14.8cm) x 1-1/2″ (3.8cm)
  • And a third piece of WW Thick CS to 1-7/8″ (4.8cm) x 4-1/8″ (10.5cm)
  • Cut a piece of Dapper Denim to 2-1/4″ (5.6cm) x 4-1/8″ (10.5cm)
  • Cut a piece of DSP to 5-5/8″ x 3-7/8″ (14.2 x 9.8cm) {I used the Pool Party square design from the Tasty Treats DSP}

Colour INKspiration #09 | kelly kent

To make:

  • Fold & crease the large piece of WW into a ‘card front’
  • Stamp the partial lighthouse stamp in Cherry Cobbler on the 1-7/8″ x 4-1/8″ WW panel
  • Ink up the full lighthouse stamp in Cherry Cobbler, stamp off onto scrap, then stamp over the top of the first lighthouse image
  • Adhere the lighthouse panel to the Dapper Denim cardstock, leaving a small border on the left and a larger border on the right
  • Stamp the seagulls in Dapper Denim on the top panel of the card front (to the right side)
  • Add masking tape to the bottom part of the happy birthday sentiment from the Lift Me Up stamp set.  Ink up in Cherry Cobbler ink, remove the masking tape, then stamp on the bottom right of the 5-7/8″ x 1-1/2″ WW panel
  • Tie Linen Thread (wrapped twice) around the happy birthday piece of cardstock.
  • Adhere the DSP to the inside of the card front
  • Line up the happy birthday panel along the bottom of the card front.
  • Using dimensionals, adhere the lighthouse panel to the seagull panel and the happy birthday panel.

I think you’d have to be a bit creative with this card about where you wrote your message.

But with a card this fun, I don’t think the recipient will mind!

Next up the stunning creation of the amazingly talented Rose Packer

Stamp Review Crew – Lift Me Up

Stamp Review Crew - Lift Me Up

An exciting Stamp Review Crew today as we hop around the world showcasing the Lift Me Up stamp set – and coordinating thinlits!

You may have started this hop with Bronwyn Eastley in Tasmania, Australia and travelled this way to the other side of the country (Bunbury, Western Australia) – or this part of the world might be your first point.

Stay down under with us for a while before taking off back to the US for more great projects.

Lots of the cards I’ve made with this bundle have been created using the colour palette from the Carried Away DSP – bright & fun.

I wanted to try some soft & pretty cards for today’s hope projects.

The starting point for each of these cards was a different shape from the Stitched Shapes Framelits – one circle, one oval & one square.

I watercoloured each piece with a different favourite subtle colour & then decorated with stamped & white heat embossed shapes from the stamp set in the same colour to create three different monochromatic cards.

Cards don’t have to be complicated to be lovely – sometimes clean & simple is best!

Next up on the hop is the gorgeous Rochelle Blok – one of many Artisans on the crew.

There’s certainly a lot of talent in this group, so enjoy as you hop around the world and collect ideas for how you might use your Lift Me Up bundle.

If you get lost anywhere along the hop due to a broken link, head back to the Stamp Review Crew blog to get you on track again!

CASEing the Catty #113 Sale-A-Bration

12371218_10153736740662158_9102306381153319857_o

Happy Sunday & welcome to the CASEing the Catty Sunday blog hop.

Each week a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from Australia & New Zealand create projects that are inspired by selected pages from a current Stampin’ Up! catalogue.

It may be a colour scheme, embellishment feature, layout, design or product use that catches our attention.

Today we’re CASEing the first section of the Sale-A-Bration catalogue.

This includes the Avant Garden stamp set and Carried Away Designer Series Paper.

CASEing the Catty #113 - Sale-A-Bration pg 4-7

Both of these products are great – and free with any $90 purchase ($110 in NZ).  There’s no limits, so you can earn the whole catalogue if you’ve got a big wishlist!!!

I’m currently getting lots of use from the Carried Away DSP and matching Lift Me Up bundle.

My project today was a birthday card that matched the styling of the scrapbook page on page 6.

I loved the layout and it came at perfect time to create a birthday card for a work colleague whose name would fit beautifully on the front.

I do love a personalised card!!!

CTC#113 - Sale-A-Bration. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com

I replicated the balloons as a background feature and carried over the large letters for her name.

The scrapbook page used the medium size balloon – I used the smallest size.

How awesome that the dies come in multiple sizes – perfect for every project!!

One of the things I love most about this project is the added little details on many of the balloons!

All but one of the balloon as are die cut except one – which is heat embossed.  What a cool touch!  The SU! designers are so clever!

Of course, because it was her birthday, I needed a birthday stamp too!

For this card I used one from the Tasty Trucks stamp set – which is also a Sale-A-Bration reward.

That’s all from me today.  Next up on the hop is the ever delightful Kathryn

ESAD Blog Hop – 2017 Occasions & SAB Sneak Peek

Images © Stampin' Up!

Hello and thank you so much for joining me for today’s ESAD blog hop.

ESAD info blue

Stampin’ Up! demonstrators around the world are getting excited because there’s a new catalogue full of beautiful products that will release on 4th January 2017.

To share the excitement, today we’re hopping across Australia & the South Pacific and previewing some of the products that you’ll be able to buy in the new year.

You’ll also see some products you can earn for free.  January – March is Sale-A-Bration, which means a choice of fabulous free product with every $90 order.

There’s so much I’m excited about – and I know there’ll be even more on my wishlist after this hop!

Today I’m sharing projects I’ve made with the Lift Me Up stamp set and coordinating Up & Away Framelits.

The first card is a spinner card using an ombre hot air balloon as the centrepiece.

The coloured layers are easy to make with the dies – there 5 layers that fit perfectly behind the intricate hot air balloon die cut.  Easy peasy!!!

I’ve used the layers again for the second card – this time in a striped pattern.

This project is CASEd from the Occasions catalogue.  If you’d like a copy of the catalogue and don’t have a current demonstrator, please contact me.

For this card, I’ve added in the Carried Away DSP, which you can choose for {FREE} if you purchase this bundle in wood ($90.25).  Or purchase in clear ($78.25) & other catalogue favourite, bringing the total to over $90 and claim you free paper.

The final card I made used one of the hot air balloon stamps.

I’m loving the colours for this card – Flirty Flamingo, Peekaboo Peach & Sweet Sugarplum.  So fun & fresh!!!

Are you totally taken with this set???  I am!  It’s so versatile with 6 large sentiments in this set plus 3 small sentiments, so you’re covered for all occasions.

And I like that hot air balloons lend themselves to all types of cards – female, male, kids – just change up the colours & design!

The other bonus for me in this set is the cute clouds – they are so handy to have in your collection!

As you travel along the hop – next stop is the fabulous Lou Kitzelman – I bet you are going to be unable to resist the gorgeousness and your wishlist will grow!!!  You’ll want products you didn’t notice before!

If this sounds like you, you might want to consider joining us as a demonstrator.  All the products you see will be yours at a minimum 20% discount, you’ll get early access & other great perks!
