CASEing the Catty #124 Host Sets

Happy Easter Sunday!

How’s the chocolate consumption going?  I have OD’d!!!  Someone hide the secret stash from me!!!

I’m pleased to be sharing a chocolate free creation with you today for CASEing the Catty #124 – Host Sets.

For this challenge we had free reign on any inspiration coming from the host sets in the Annual or Occasions catalogue.

I flicked through the catalogue earlier in the week and couldn’t make a deicions.  WHen I came back to it later in the week, it was an easy choice.

Funny how our experiences during the week can alter how we think or see things!

My week has been all about the retirement list.  There’s still lots of choice for amazing Stampin’ Up! items – many at a discount.

Technically, all of the host sets are retiring (they always do).  But it was another retiring set that I wanted to get inky again… before it goes!

I’ve loved Kinda Eclectic!!!  That sweet little butterfly has featured on many cards produced via my craft table.

I used the layout from this host card in the Annual Catalogue…

To create this Kinda Eclectic version with butterflies!

I used the Gold Wink of Stella pens to create the gold splatters on the card base.

This has {NEVER} worked for me before!  And now that I’ve been able to master it, I’m sad that the gold pen is retiring!  But soooooo happy that the Clear Wink of Stella pen is staying around.

The sentiment is from the Helping Me Grow stamp set.  Although retiring, I’m going to keep this set in my stash because it’s a classic for teachers and other helping influences.

If you see any favourites in my blog posts over the next 6 weeks that I mention as retiring, you’ll want to order those before they disappear forever!  Stocks are available unti 31st May 2017 or the warehouse runs out – whichever comes first!  Retirement list shopping is best done in my online store.

Colour INKspiration #05

Did you love the colours from last fortnight for Colour INKspiration?

We had so many people enjoying the bold & beautiful purple & yellows!!

This week for Colour INKspiration, we take a softer turn into the pastels.

Colour INKspiration #5

This trio of colours lend themselves so nicely to so many occasions!

My initial thought was a pretty wedding card…

I had the idea to create the background piece by repetitively die cutting the floral centrepiece die (hexagon shaped die) from the Window Box Thinlits until the cardstock piece was covered.

I then overlayed it on the bokeh piece of DSP from the Falling In Love DSP.  This DSP pack is perfect for this challenge!!!

Once the background was finished, I added my sentiment on an oval stitched shape and decorated with a pink flower & blue butterfly.

Sometimes finding ways to keep within the constraints of the challenge colours is the best fun of a colour challenge!

I loved the wedding card, but  I couldn’t shake off the idea of using these colours for a baby card.

How cute are these little babies from the Moon Baby stamp set?

This card for some oh-so-cute twin boys born just a little while ago.

Even though it was a traditional baby blue theme I was going for, the pink worked beautifully for a shower of hearts as they drifted down!

I’m so happy with this card!!!

School Pencil Tin – Stampin’ Style!

It’s back to school day here for Miss Papercraft and I know there won’t be any tears in our house.

And why would there with oodles of new stationary to get acquainted with!?!  She’s a demo in the making!

I went the easy (lazy) route this year for school supplies.

The school ordered the stationary for me, Spencil provided the book covers, pencil case, chair cover & backpack and the ever so lovely Madonna at Bold Badger Designs made me pencil labels.

Effort level – minimum, success level – high!

All that time efficiency did leave me a little extra time to get creative, so decided that rather than send Miss P with a naked pencil tin, I’d jazz it up a bit for her with my stamping supplies.

I’m sure I could have also streamlined the pencil tin too, but the booklist suggested a recycled canned fruit tin – and Miss P was excited about eating a tin of peaches!

So, this is my ‘upcycled’ pencil holder…

It features burlap ribbon & Whisper White baker’s twine around the middle…

And a ‘tag’ for my special Miss, reminding her how amazing she is (not that she lacks any confidence – oh to be 5 again!).

The tag is made using the Swirly Scribbles dies, Stitched Framelits, Large Letters and the Bitty Butterfly from the Kinda Eclectic stamp set.

The sentiment comes from the Thoughtful Banners stamp set (‘are’ stolen from ‘carefree’) and ‘you’ from the Endless Thanks stamp set.

And just like that, my big girl is off to year 1!

{with a cool pencil tin!}
