It’s late on a Thurs night, which means a Just Add Ink challenge card!
I’m going to start this post by saying that Patrice – the ‘lovely’ lady who put these 4 colours together in the same box – almost made me cry.
I really, really struggled with Crumb Cake & Lemon Lime Twist !
Despite the pending tears, I was excited to try an idea I’d seen shared by Jamilla Ivits to use the embossing paste to create dinosaur fossils! Her card is super cool – you can see it here.
This is my version….
I used the dinosaur fossil on the bottom layer – stamped on coloured embossing paste – and created a peek-a-boo style card with a magnifying glass for the top layer.
Although these colours challenged me (slightly), it was fun to work through how to use them to create the fossil!
I coloured the embossing paste with Crumb Cake reinker, smeared it across the card base and let it dry for a few moments.
Once it was ‘tacky’ but not wet, I stamped the dinosaur skeleton onto the embossing paste to make an impression. I let it dry a little more then stamped the skeleton again, but this time it was inked up in Crumb Cake ink.
I wanted to ‘dirty’ up the leaves a little, so instead of stamping in just Lemon Lime Twist ink, I used a baby wipe to create a blend of LLT & Crumb Cake, which when used as an ink pad, created a mottled effect for the leaves.
The bright green sentiment really pops!
I can see why LLT is such a new favourite for everyone. And it’s really growing on me… just maybe not with Crumb Cake!
Though, the rest of the design team have totally nailed this colour combination and have awesome inspiration using these 4 colours!
