Just Add Ink #347 Colour Combination

Just Add Ink Design Team

It’s all about colour this week for the Just Add Ink challenge as we create to this little colour quartet dreamt up by Kim.

Just Add Ink #347

Regals are my least used colour story in the Stampin’ Up! collection.

So, this combo with 2 ‘subtles’ and two regals was definitely a challenge for me.

But, as luck would have it, inspiration struck as I picked up my bag to go out…

What if, the Lucky Elephant, wasn’t a solid colour – but fabulously floral – like my bag!

And from there, it all flowed!

{LOVE MY BAG? It was a custom creation many moons ago by Kylie at Sew Fun by Kylie.  I think it’s time for a wash!!!}

One of my favourite Brisbane OnStage presentations was by Angela Meiritz-Reid who had all kinds of wonderful ideas for using the elephant from the Occasions catalogue.

This is one of them – outlining the elephant shape with a marker, rather than inking it up.

I then stamped it onto the Inside the Lines DSP, and using the Basic Black Stampin’ Write marker, I followed the faint markings to create an elephant outline.

From there, it was a matter of colouring the DSP using the challenge colours…

Then snipping it out and adding the beautiful elephant to a card!

I had so much fun colouring my elephant, I decided to make another version – but this time with touches of gold!

Using gold embossing powder, I added a gold caparison to his back.

Never heard of a caparison?  That’s what the blanket on the back of an elephant, horse or donkey is called!

The whole card…

My tip for colouring with the Regals is to try using an Aqua Painter rather than the markers.  It provides a lighter, softer shade of the same colour.

CASEing the Catty #111 Sale-A-Bration

Did you love the switch to Facebook for CASEing the Catty last week?  We had so many amazing entries CASEing the projects from the Party Animal suite & next few pages of the catalogue.  Overall for CTC#110 we were CASEing pages 4-7 of the Occasions Catalogue.

Quite a few people thought they couldn’t participate because they didn’t have the stamp sets in this section.

Hopefully, we’re getting the message out – but just in case you missed it – CTC isn’t about recreating the sample projects in the catalogue, but more taking whatever inspiration you can from the photos.  It might be the layout, colour combination, design feature, stamp set or overall theme.

Let the catalogue start your creative process and see what you come up with!  It’d be great to see more stampers join in again this week.

This week is CTC#111 and it’s all about introducing the Sale-A-Bration catalogue.

The crew has free range on the whole catalogue this week – I can’t wait to see what sparks everyone’s attention.

For me, it’s another Inside the Lines card – the paper has 4 designs and I’m working my way through them!  You can see two of them here.

My card is a variation of the design at the bottom right of the sample picture above (with perhaps a touch of the top right too):

To achieve this look, I brayered the DSP with Rose Red ink and then coloured the flowers & dragonfly with my new Watercolor Pencils before giving the flowers a once over with an Aqua Painter.

Adding water to the pencils smooths the colour & blends it beautifully.

How pretty is the Rose Red?  One of my team pointed out that I rarely use Rose Red.  Here you go Anne – Rose Red in action!

The dragonfly is embossed in copper, and so is the sentiment, which is from the Sale-A-Bration set “Any Occasion”.

I’m making the effort in 2017 to decorate the insides of my cards.

I’m on beginner level, so it’s a strip of DSP, some dragonflies and a birthday sentiment!

It does add another layer of love to the card.

I’m sure the projects on this hop will inspire some wonderful creativity and add a little more to your wishlist!

Next stop is Miss Rachel and her lovely designs.

There’s 12 to choose from…

Do you have a favourite or ‘must have’?  I love them all – as a true addict does!

Avant Garden & Hey Chick were both very popular at my launch event on the weekend.

As you know, I’m in {LOVE} with paper!  There’s 2 paper options in the SAB choices.  The fun & bright Carried Away DSP and the Inside the Lines DSP.

I’ve been playing with the black & white Inside the Lines DSP this week.

This is the card we made at my launch event on Sunday using the spotlight technique and the new watercolour pencils.

For this card we cut a circle from the DSP layer, coloured it with Watercolour Pencils and re-layered it with a cardstock mat on the card.

If you’ve bought the Watercolour Pencils and need a case to store them in, download my free printable insert here.

For the next card, I left the DSP layer in black & white and added coloured letters to bring colour.

The Milestone Moments stamp set is proving to quite versatile and a firm favourite of mine from the Occasions Catalogue.

How awesome do the Large Letters look!!!  Don’t forget, with the joining special during Sale-A-Bration, they could be part of your Starter Kit, saving you over 50%.  See here for more details.
