CASEing the Catty #124 Host Sets

Happy Easter Sunday!

How’s the chocolate consumption going?  I have OD’d!!!  Someone hide the secret stash from me!!!

I’m pleased to be sharing a chocolate free creation with you today for CASEing the Catty #124 – Host Sets.

For this challenge we had free reign on any inspiration coming from the host sets in the Annual or Occasions catalogue.

I flicked through the catalogue earlier in the week and couldn’t make a deicions.  WHen I came back to it later in the week, it was an easy choice.

Funny how our experiences during the week can alter how we think or see things!

My week has been all about the retirement list.  There’s still lots of choice for amazing Stampin’ Up! items – many at a discount.

Technically, all of the host sets are retiring (they always do).  But it was another retiring set that I wanted to get inky again… before it goes!

I’ve loved Kinda Eclectic!!!  That sweet little butterfly has featured on many cards produced via my craft table.

I used the layout from this host card in the Annual Catalogue…

To create this Kinda Eclectic version with butterflies!

I used the Gold Wink of Stella pens to create the gold splatters on the card base.

This has {NEVER} worked for me before!  And now that I’ve been able to master it, I’m sad that the gold pen is retiring!  But soooooo happy that the Clear Wink of Stella pen is staying around.

The sentiment is from the Helping Me Grow stamp set.  Although retiring, I’m going to keep this set in my stash because it’s a classic for teachers and other helping influences.

If you see any favourites in my blog posts over the next 6 weeks that I mention as retiring, you’ll want to order those before they disappear forever!  Stocks are available unti 31st May 2017 or the warehouse runs out – whichever comes first!  Retirement list shopping is best done in my online store.

No-Line Watercolouring

We all know that I’m usually late to the party for all trends & fads – but when I do get there, I get on a roll!!!

The flavour of this month seems to be no-line watercolouring.  I used it for my cute rainbow card & my Stamp Review Crew rose.

So, if I’m in love with it, I should share it – yes?!

One of the cards we made in today’s class used this technique for colouring the flowers…

No-line watercolouring turns anyone into an artist!

The how to:

  • Ink up your stamp in a light colour like Sahara Sand
  • Stamp off onto scrap/scratch paper
  • Then stamp onto your project cardstock – this will give you a feint stamped outline
  • Using an Aqua Painter and ink colours that suit your project, follow the lines using a solid stroke
  • Once all the lines are coloured, fill in the white space using a more watery wash (lighter) with your Aqua Painter

It’s really so easy!!!

This is the finished card…

You should try it!

Any outline stamp will work beautifully – but I did wonder about the hot air balloons today….  Must try that next!
