In this crazy world I call life, I have missed a few challenges of late due to time constraints. Too much real life and not enough craft! Now that doesn’t seem like a good balance does it?!?
Thankfully I managed to squeeze in some craft time over the past few days and I am entering this card for the Just Add Ink #310 sketch challenge {AND} the Global Design Project #034 sketch challenge. Both challenge blogs have very similar elements in their sketches – how cool is that!?!
I’m not sure if it’s all above board to be merging sketches – so apologies if this forms a big challenge no-no, but I loved them both and didn’t want to choose one blog over the other for entry. They both inspired my final design.
I took the watercolour inspiration from the GDP blog and started to watercolour a JAI inspired circle (that didn’t work out by the way!).
I then cut out a large circle and used this as a template for my Gorgeous Grunge creation. It’s a mix of Pool Party, Soft Sky & gold heat embossing.
Because the template (made of cardstock) formed a raised edge, I didn’t get a perfect circle – it was more like a dandelion. And the card was created from there!
The final touch was inspired by Jessica Williams’ Artisan Design Team card during the week – gold thread hand-stitching. It’s so luxurious and the perfect way to finish a ‘white space’ card like this.
The stitching took ages – but was very therapeutic. There’s just something lovely about the symmetry of it!
Stitching on cards is one of my favourite finishes – I must do more of it!!! Thankfully the metallic thread is carrying-over to the new catalogue. I wonder what new colours will join in for 2016??? Just over 3 weeks til all the new catalogue questions are answered. I can’t wait! Kelly x
PS, a very Happy Mother’s Day to all my blog readers xxx
