Colour INKspiration #06

Hello!  Welcome to our second Colour INKspiration for the month of March.

Thank you so much for all the wonderful entries we got for the first challenge for March – #05.  You can see them on our Colour INKspiration Facebook page.

Colour INKspiration #06 gives us a great combination of rich & fresh colours – Night of Navy, Pool Party, Calypso Coral & all things gold!

For me, I just couldn’t move away from the Middle Eastern luxury feel – which led me back to my favourite elephant!!!

He’s definitely around for the next 2 months – so I’m going to be making the most of him!

How cute is the gold touch on his caparison?  That was inspired by this super cute pink elephant card made by Robyn Cardon.

I carried through the colours to create a fun inside of the card too…

I love splatters and have quite a few stamp sets that work well to create that bottom left to top right splatter pattern!

We’d love for you to join us on the Facebook page to see what other stampers are creating with these colours & to share you own creation.

Speaking of amazing creations (because I know yours will be), please hop on to the gorgeous Lou Kitzelman and see hers.  This lady is a never ending bottle of talent!

Thanks for supporting Colour INKspiration.

We’ve been dazzled by your contributions & amazed by how many people keep joining the fun!

CASEing the Catty #106 Favourite Hostess Set

It’s a full Sunday today, with another hop for you to enjoy!

Today at CASEing the Catty, it’s all about the hostess sets from the Annual Catalogue – pages 198 – 201 or Holiday Catalogue – page 3.

I’ve already CASEd the Holiday Catalogue for my CTC swaps – you can see my shrink reindeers here.

So, today I’m CASEing the Annual Catalogue, specially the layout from this beautiful card.

I thought this would make a perfect starting point for a card for the baby shower I attended today.

There’s was a ‘no pink’ brief – which I {TOTALLY} ignored!!!

I’m a pink lover and having had 2 girls – I know how hard it is to avoid pink for little girls – it’s everywhere!!!

The biggest Little Miss Papercraft’s favourite colour has always been yellow.  It’s so difficult to get yellow anything for girls!

In fairness, the pink was inspired by this beautiful bandana bib I bought as part of their baby shower gift – which matches our Sweet Sugarplum cardstock perfectly!

So, it’s actually not pink…

And when you add ink all that black, grey, silver & gold, it’s not really all that pink at all!!!

Really!!!  Hopefully they’ll love it and I won’t be the only rule-ignoring guest!

Next place to visit for this blog hop is the wonderful Judy.

If you’re inspired to share a hostess project with us, please join the monthly challenge.

Thoughtful Teacher Thanks – GDP#045

Did you see my DIY Blackboard Letters yesterday???

Well, while a girl has blackboard paint out – she’s gonna play!  I couldn’t resist painting a piece of thick Whipser White cardstock just to see how it would come up.

And it was beautiful!  And perfect for the colour challenge this week at Global Design Project #045.

I’m getting organised early this year and have started an assortment of cards for things that fall in the second half of the year including thank you cards for teachers.

These little gems have an actual blackboard background so that parents or students can write on the black space using chalk.

Perfect for personalising the card!

Did you spy the new sentiments?  They are from the gorgeous Thoughtful Branches bundle which is an August exclusive available from 2nd August 2016.

And perfect for a range of occasions – including thank you & appreciation, as used in these cards.  Oh my – that delicious font!!!

I’ll be sharing more samples from the Thoughtful Branches stamp set next week including a special Stamp Review Crew hop on Monday.  You’ll want to check in and see just how lovely it is – it’ll be hard to resist adding this bundle to your collection.

See you then!

Sketch Time – JAI#310 & GDP#034

In this crazy world I call life, I have missed a few challenges of late due to time constraints.  Too much real life and not enough craft!  Now that doesn’t seem like a good balance does it?!?

Thankfully I managed to squeeze in some craft time over the past few days and I am entering this card for the Just Add Ink #310 sketch challenge {AND} the Global Design Project #034 sketch challenge.  Both challenge blogs have very similar elements in their sketches – how cool is that!?!

I’m not sure if it’s all above board to be merging sketches – so apologies if this forms a big challenge no-no, but I loved them both and didn’t want to choose one blog over the other for entry. They both inspired my final design.

I took the watercolour inspiration from the GDP blog and started to watercolour a JAI inspired circle (that didn’t work out by the way!).

I then cut out a large circle and used this as a template for my Gorgeous Grunge creation.  It’s a mix of Pool Party, Soft Sky & gold heat embossing.

JAI#310 & GDP#034 - Sketch Inspired. Gorgeous Grunge Dandelion Birthday Card. Kelly Kent -

Because the template (made of cardstock) formed a raised edge, I didn’t get a perfect circle – it was more like a dandelion.  And the card was created from there!

The final touch was inspired by Jessica Williams’ Artisan Design Team card during the week – gold thread hand-stitching.  It’s so luxurious and the perfect way to finish a ‘white space’ card like this.

Gold thread hand-stitching on my Gorgeous Grunge Dandelion card. Kelly Kent -

The stitching took ages – but was very therapeutic.  There’s just something lovely about the symmetry of it!

Stitching on cards is one of my favourite finishes – I must do more of it!!!  Thankfully the metallic thread is carrying-over to the new catalogue.  I wonder what new colours will join in for 2016???  Just over 3 weeks til all the new catalogue questions are answered.  I can’t wait!  Kelly x

PS, a very Happy Mother’s Day to all my blog readers xxx
